78. Not a boring journey

Rolle gave the little cat a look, and the latter quickly broke away from Jeanne's chest, jumped back into Rolle's hands, and took the initiative to get into his shirt pocket, trembling.

Jeanne's pretty face was filled with regret and reluctance as she watched Rolle leave.

But it always feels like it’s the little kitten she can’t bear to part with?

Luo Er's attitude was resolute and his purpose was clear. He came all this way just to find his daughter. He didn't want to get involved in other messy things.

After he walked away, a dark-skinned young man walked out from the old cicada tree next to the school playground.

He trotted up to Jeanne, bowed slightly, and then asked in a low voice in the local dialect:

"Sir, who is that person? Do you need to follow him?"

Jeanne shook her head repeatedly, put away her usual gentle smile, and said in a commanding tone:

"No, don't offend this gentleman!"

"His strength is unfathomable and he is personable. He is a respectable imperial gentleman and he just saved my life."

After that, she asked again:

"Are you okay over there?"

A trace of sadness flashed across the young man's face, and he replied in a deep voice:

"We were attacked by three cultists. They brought guns. In the end, five brothers died before we managed to deal with them, so we arrived too late..."

Jeanne closed her eyes slightly, her beautiful face showing deep sadness, she put her hands on her chest and murmured a few words in a low voice.

Inexplicably, she remembered the scene where Rohr caught the bullet with his bare hands...

The two of them observed a moment of silence together, and then the young man suggested again:

"Your Excellency, the cultists attacked us, which means there is a traitor among us who betrayed your position. Sweet Frost City is no longer safe. You'd better rush to Alpine Castle as soon as possible."

Jeanne showed a wry smile and replied:

"I originally planned to give the children the last lesson tomorrow and then go to the Alpine Fort. It seems I can only leave early tomorrow morning."

"Take care of the children for me."

----------

When Luo Er went back to the hotel, he saw that the guide Zaza had come back and waited for him honestly.

"It's great that you are safe and sound!"

The guide came over and asked in a low voice:

"Did you really go back to see Miss Jeanne?"

"No, I'm going to catch the cicadas."

Roll said, snatching only half of the cicada from the kitten's paws, and stuffed it into the guide's hand.

This cicada has long been played to death by the little milk cat, but for some reason half of it is left. Maybe he wants to give it to his best friend, the little donkey?

"Hold it, and you hold...well, half of summer."

Roll patted the guide on the shoulder and went to the stable to look after the little donkey.

On the second day, Rolle got up early, but he looked very lethargic and had dark circles under his eyes.

Five call girls knocked on his door last night...

Although they were all driven away by him, they really didn't sleep well, and the guide made that ambiguous and weird smile when he saw him.

Fortunately, the guide prepared an open carriage, which was quite spacious. Rolle let the little donkey lie down, then rested on its belly to catch up on its drowsiness.

But not far away, the carriage suddenly stopped, and Rolle vaguely heard someone talking:

"Are you also going to Alpine Castle? Can you take me for a ride? I just happened to have a lot of lunch prepared, so I can share it with you."

"Of course there is no problem, Miss Jeanne, Mr. Rolle must also hope to travel with a beauty like you."

Rolle got an idea and quickly sat up, just in time to see Jeanne climbing onto the carriage quickly.

Today she is still wearing the same simple outfit as yesterday, except that she has an extra waistcoat on her shoulders and a round sun hat on her head. She still has that bright and charming face underneath.

"You...how did you..."

Luo suddenly showed an expression as if he had seen a ghost.

He really didn't want to have anything to do with this woman.

"Hehe, teachers also have days off, and I happen to be planning to go to Alpine Castle today. I never thought that I would be so lucky to meet Mr. Luo Er."

Jeanne covered her mouth and chuckled.

Luo Er was also helpless. He couldn't drive people away, right? It would be too ungraceful.

Fortunately, Jeanne was also very smart and did not talk about those discordant topics. Instead, she had a normal and simple conversation and told Rolle all kinds of interesting things in school.

Jeanne was very talkative and good at finding topics. She talked about the childish and innocent things about the children and the various worries when taking care of them, which made Roel smile knowingly from time to time. She felt the same way, and his impression of her became much better.

.

When she is normal, this woman is still very attractive.

Luo Er also told her bluntly that his precious daughter had joined the archaeological team and he was really worried about it. He came here just to find his daughter.

I don’t know if Jeanna believed it or not, but she said with a compliment:

"You are really a responsible father. Your daughter must be well-behaved and obedient, right?"

"Of course, she is the only treasure in my life."

Rohr said, then turned to ask:

"By the way, do you know the specific location of that ancient ruins?"

Jeanne shook her head.

"I only know that it is probably in a valley to the west of Gaoshan Castle. I don't know much more..."

"You may find it funny to say it. It is obviously a relic in our principality, but the empire, barbarians, and the United Kingdom do not allow our people to approach, except for those conscripted coolies..."

As she spoke, the smile on her face gradually turned into a bitter smile.

Luo Er can understand the bitterness in her heart. No normal person would want his country to become like this.

But there was nothing he could do except understand and sympathize.

The two of them chatted about local customs for a while, and around noon, they could already see the walls of Gaoshan Fort.

When Luo Er saw the city wall for the first time, he was still a little surprised. He thought that this thing had been eliminated by the times...

In the face of powerful artillery and unpredictable extraordinary forces, city walls are really useless. Like the Empire, they have long replaced backward city walls with more scientific and reasonable defenses such as steel fortresses and concrete fortresses.

This kind of thing that should be a cultural relic is actually a very reliable defense in the backward fertile valley...

The carriage did not go long before it arrived at the city gate. A small group of soldiers from the Principality of Maud were checking people entering the city one by one.

A soldier originally wanted to come over to inspect Rolle's carriage, but was slapped in the face and cursed in the local dialect by their squad leader.

"He is saying, you are a distinguished guest from the empire, how can you interrogate you?"

With a half-smile expression on her face, Jeanne translated in a low voice.

Sure enough, the carriage entered the city smoothly without any inspection. The team leader, with a flattering smile on his face, kept nodding and bowing towards Rohr, as if he had no spine.
