Chapter 88 Design to Structure

Looking along the line of sight, the small room separated by glass is used as a reception room.

Holding the canvas bag in one hand, Jian Anran walked into the reception room nervously under the confused eyes of other students in the office.

There is a glass coffee table in the middle of the reception room with a tea set on it. Surrounding the coffee table are three black old cadre-style sofas. Jian Anran sat down on the single sofa at the edge.

From time to time, the rustle of documents could be heard outside, as well as the sounds of conversations inside. Professor Zhang’s voice was particularly prominent among them, and it could be heard that he seemed to have some disagreements with the other party.

I carefully reviewed my performance in class during the recent period, whether it was during class or homework after class.

Jian Anran couldn't figure out what was wrong with her. She still didn't understand why Professor Zhang suddenly called her to the office.

"Okay, these are the problems at the moment. You go back and correct them first. We will find time to take a look next week."

After Professor Zhang finished speaking outside the door, he heard the sound of a chair being pushed open. Professor Zhang walked straight into the reception room and closed the glass door without closing it completely.

Professor Zhang smiled knowingly when he saw the person in front of him biting his lips involuntarily and unconsciously placing his fingers on his legs to rub the corners of his clothes.

"Don't be nervous, it's not a bad thing." He said, turned around and took two disposable paper cups from the table behind.

He picked up the kettle on the table and filled two glasses of water, pushing one cup to Jian Anran.

"Thank you." She took the paper cup carefully.

Professor Zhang’s hands and fingers are intertwined, his elbows are placed on his knees, and his body is slightly leaning forward while sitting on the sofa.

"It's like this. I went to see your mid-term coursework that day, and I saw your work at the first glance. It's very eye-catching."

Hearing this, Jian Anran just smiled sheepishly, not knowing what to say.

"Personally, I admire your work very much," Professor Zhang continued. "Although there are some shortcomings, the overall degree of completion is very high."

Unable to hold back a moment of "huh?", Jian Anran still didn't understand why Professor Zhang suddenly called her to the office.

Professor Zhang is a teacher of mechanics, and he has always only provided help with the structure of their works, and generally does not care about the content of their designs.

"But I heard the classmate next to me mention that your work was the only one in your group that required a second defense."

Professor Zhang mentioned this matter again, and Jian Anran's eyelids immediately drooped. It seemed that the entire department already knew about this matter.

"I took a look at the level of other students. This small flaw in your work is not worthy of a second argument according to my standards."

"But now that it's a done deal, I have some modifications. If you don't mind, we can discuss it together."

For a moment, her brain shut down, and Jian Anran blurted out and asked: "Why?"

Realizing that she was a little too reckless and direct, she immediately blushed and apologized.

Professor Zhang smiled and said, "You have made great progress recently, and I also know your grades last semester."

"I appreciate your willingness to work hard on your studies. Don't you still have to apply for that scholarship? Isn't it worthwhile to lose points in professional courses?"

Sensing Jian Anran's hesitation, Professor Zhang said again: "Do you have any doubts?"

"Professor... aren't you a teacher of mechanics?" Jian Anran's voice was very weak and she asked without confidence.

The person opposite immediately laughed, his voice was very bold and clear, and the flesh on his chin trembled slightly.

"I majored in structure as an undergraduate, and took the architecture exam as a graduate student. At that time, when I came to Los Angeles University to apply, I was left with a structural position." Professor Zhang sighed with regret.

Jian Anran said "Oh" and suddenly realized, "It turns out."

"Did you bring your homework?" Professor Zhang asked.

Jian Anran hurriedly took out the computer from her bag, opened it and said: "Here it is."

The other party took it, put her laptop on her lap, and slid her fingers on the trackpad a few times.

"You..." Professor Zhang hesitated.

Almost as a conditioned reflex, Jane Anran stood up with a "swish", her hands were put respectfully in front of her, and she stood behind Professor Zhang, looking at her work in his hand.

"Actually, it's not just a problem on the streamline, the structure here may not be good either." Professor Zhang scratched an area with his finger.

"It is impossible to make such a beam in this place, which means that the structure here is actually ineffective. It cannot support a span as large as yours..."

On the basis of architectural design, Professor Zhang also raided her on several structural issues.

The genius was slightly bright when I went out today. October has already begun to enter autumn. Jian Anran specially put on a short-sleeved shirt in the morning.

During a series of questions that I almost couldn't answer, my forehead was slightly stained with sweat or cold sweat.

As soon as she reached out and secretly wiped her forehead, Professor Zhang turned around and caught her.

"Am I usually this scary in class?" Professor Zhang smiled.

"The same goes for Zhou Yun, who just came to hand in her homework. Her hands were shaking when she handed over her homework."

Jian Anran smiled and whispered: "It's hard to deny."

From design issues to structural issues, Professor Zhang logically sorted out Jian Anran's works from beginning to end.

Before finally coming out, he did not forget to say: "If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me."

After closing the office door and turning her back to the inside, Jian Anran was still unable to calm down her previous nervousness. She was shocked by Professor Zhang's sudden friendliness and could not recover from it for a long time.

Compared with the way here, Jian Anran felt that the pace of leaving was much lighter. The sunshine outside seemed to be a little brighter, and she even wanted to hum along with the pace.

There were not many people in the department building in the morning. Most students had to go to class, and the corridors of the office were even quieter.

Leaders occasionally come and go during the day, and the cleaning aunts don't dare to chat in the atrium. Through the hollow glass on the roof, the sunlight shines directly on the small table on the red bricks in the atrium.

The full canvas bag made Jian Anran's shoulders hurt. She placed the bag on the table and sat down.

My eyes unconsciously glanced at the familiar office. The blue [703] on the silver label was particularly eye-catching.

Although she had requested an emergency leave from the academic affairs system today, driven by curiosity, Jian Anran still wanted to go in and take a look.

After trying hard to find an excuse for a long time, when someone asked, she just said that she had forgotten the documents.

She took a deep breath at the door, mustered up her courage, and finally decided to reach out and press the doorknob.
