Chapter 668 Youmin Temple

Fengxin Baizhang Mountain Baizhang Temple, Youmin Temple.`

Youmin Temple is located in NC City, facing Nanhu Lake in the west and Bayiyi Park next to it.

First built during the Tianjian period of the Southern Dynasty, it was once called Shanglan Temple, Dafo Temple, and Kaiyuan Temple.

In the fourth year of the Dali calendar (AD 769), the famous Zen master Mazu Daoyi became the abbot of the temple, creating the most prosperous situation. It was later renamed Shanglan Yuan, Chengtian Temple, Nengren Temple, and Youqing Temple, in 1929

It was renamed "Youmin Temple" in 1998.

During the mid-Tang Dynasty, there were three most vigorous schools in the Southern Sect, namely Mazu's Hongzhou Zen, Shenhui's Heze Zen, and Xiqian's Shitou Zen.

Mazu Daoyi advocated that "the mind is the Buddha", "human beings are no different from the Buddha", and "the ordinary mind is the Tao". He is revered as the eighth ancestor of Zen.

Based on the ideas of Hui Neng, the Sixth Patriarch of Zen Buddhism, Mazu Daoyi advocated the inherent tranquility of the mind, the inherent Buddha nature, and the enlightenment without seeking outsiders. He preached that "the heart is the Buddha", which had a profound impact on Chinese philosophy, national culture, and moral concepts.

Impact.

Mazu inherited the Buddhist reform tradition of Huineng, founded Linji, and pioneered the Weiyang sect. He cultivated a group of pillars of Zen. Mazu and his disciple Huaihai reclaimed wasteland and cultivated land together, and he was the pioneer of the integration of agriculture and Zen.

The large bronze Buddha in Youmin Temple is nine meters eighty tall and weighs thirty-six thousand kilograms.

There are six large camphor trees in front of the main hall, with lush branches and leaves.

In the hot summer, Su Jiu recalled the information about Youmin Temple in his mind.

Look at the six large camphor trees in front of you and the large bronze Buddha statue that is vaguely visible through the temple wall.`

Stopped.

Thoughtful in my heart.

This Youmin Temple is located in the center of the city. It can be said to be an attraction in the city. Naturally, there are many tourists here.

Since ancient times, Buddhism has been relatively popular in China.

Especially in today's society, there are many people who believe in Buddhism, and the incense in Youmin Temple is very strong.

The reason why Su Jiu chose this temple was not because it was nearby, but because of a legend about Youmin Temple.

According to legend, during the Liang Dynasty, Ge Jie, the master of King Yuzhang, had a well in his home, and a dragon lived in it.

In order to prevent the dragons from coming out to cause trouble, King Yuzhang built a giant Buddha to suppress the dragons.

Later, Ge Jie donated this house to build a temple. Because the big Buddha statue of Zhenlong was enshrined, Youmin Temple was called the Big Buddha Temple in the earliest days.

What Su Jiu was looking at was the dragon bone in the temple.

Legends should not be taken seriously.

To the outside world, this legend is just a joke.

However, Su Jiu knew that this legend was true. There was indeed a dragon bone stored in Youmin Temple. Moreover, this dragon bone had been taught by eminent monks of all ages and had already become a Buddhist treasure.`

The purpose of Su Jiu's trip was this dragon bone.

There is nothing more suitable than this dragon bone to serve as the centerpiece of the Great Emperor's tomb.

After looking at the entrance of the temple again, Su Jiu took steps towards the inside of the temple.

There are many tourists in Youmin Temple. In ordinary temples, those who receive tourists are not real monks.

Most of them are hired from outside.

To put it nicely, for professional monks, except for the bald head, the rest are fake.

Entering the temple, Su Jiu was naturally not stupid enough to say hello to these monks who could be seen everywhere.

To take away this dragon bone, this temple treasure of Youmin Temple, you need some means.

Fighting by force is definitely not possible.

This is something you don't even need to think about. Your injuries are not completely healed yet, so it's not suitable for you to take action.

Even if he was not injured, it would be impossible to fight in this busy city.

You must know that in a city, there are many capable people. Su Jiu is very clear about this. In the urban area, there are countless Feng Shui masters.

As long as you make a move, you will definitely attract onlookers. If you take away the temple treasure of Youmin Temple by force, it will definitely be passed on. This is something you don't have to think about.

Therefore, the solution by force was rejected by Su Jiu at the first opportunity.

Su Jiu had already planned this dragon bone. He could only outwit it, but he could not defeat it.

The layout of most ancient Chinese temples is that the mountain gate is in the middle of the front, and the bell tower and drum tower are on the left and right of the mountain gate. The front is the Tianwang Hall, with four Vajra statues in the hall. The back is the Mahavira Hall, the Sutra Collection Tower, the monk's room, and the Zhaitang.

On the left and right sides of the middle road.

This Youmin Temple was also built according to this specification.

The Mahavira Hall in the temple is the most important and largest building in the Buddhist temple. The "Mahatma" is the Buddha Sakyamuni.

Before the Sui and Tang Dynasties, Buddhist temples usually built pagodas in front of the temples or in the center of the houses. After the Sui and Tang Dynasties, Buddhist temples generally replaced the pagodas, and most temples had separate pagoda courtyards.

Regardless of their size or location, the architectural layout of Chinese Buddhist temples follows certain rules: a square plane, with the space organized along the north-south axis of the Shanmen Hall, the Heavenly King Hall, the Mahavira Hall, the main temple’s Bodhisattva Hall, the Dharma Hall, and the Buddhist Sutra Building. They are symmetrical and stable.

And the order is rigorous.

Along this central axis, the front and rear buildings rise and fall, just like a piece of music with vivid charm.

The temple building of Youmin Temple has the function of worshiping ancestors, heaven and earth. It is still a square plan, with a north-south central axis layout, a symmetrical, stable and rigorously organized building group.

The place where Su Jiu is currently standing is right in front of the Sutra Collection Building. After passing through the Sutra Collection Building, the backyard is where the real monks live.

This is Su Jiu's destination.

"Donor, you can't enter here, please go somewhere else to play!" Su Jiu was blocked by a monk before she could even take a step forward.

"Master, I am a descendant of the Su family of the southern sect. I would like to discuss something with the abbot of your temple. Please let me know!" Su Jiu observed carefully. The middle-aged monk who blocked him had scars on his head, and there were scars all over his body.

Ruoyou Ruowuo had a fluctuation in his aura, although he didn't show it.

Su Jiu couldn't guess at his level of cultivation, but anyone in the same industry could easily tell that this middle-aged monk had some level of cultivation.

"Donor, please wait a moment, allow me to enter and report to the abbot!" After hearing what Su Jiu said, the middle-aged monk's eyes obviously changed slightly and were no longer so fixed.

He glanced at Su Jiu, said slowly, then turned around and walked towards the inner courtyard.

Su Jiu stayed where he was and did not break in directly.

Instead, he looked at everything around him with great interest.

Generally speaking, the temples outside are not worth seeing as tourist attractions.

After a period of time, it will be repaired. Its artificial traces are very obvious, and it has long lost the charm of the thousand-year-old temple.

The inner courtyard is different, it still retains the traces left by the years.

If you are serious about this, you can discover it if you pay a little careful attention when visiting certain temples. (To be continued.)

ps: ps; Thanks to "1iu135757" for the huge reward!
