Chapter 38 Boom’s Past

Today Rikka is very happy. It seems that in her memory, this is the first time that her brother takes the initiative to accompany her shopping. Therefore, she looks even more well-behaved, and her big, watery eyes always curve into crescent moons.

But she also knew that something was wrong with her brother today. It was absolutely impossible for him, who had always been taciturn, to suddenly change his temperament and even tell a lot of cold jokes.

Being smart, she immediately thought of the reason. Her brother must be homesick! He must be remembering his past life! He must be rich and willful!

Boom, who was walking side by side with him, was not aware of the other person's strange expression at all. He was still looking around, alert to possible dangers.

Unknowingly, the two came to the slums where they once lived. Looking at the simple wooden houses, Boom was speechless for a long time, and his eyes were full of memories.

Although Rikka on the side didn't know why her brother was acting like this, as a contracted beast, she could roughly understand the other person's emotions. It was a light sadness, mixed with a little regret and nostalgia.

"Brother, it will be time for the monastery to distribute food soon. I want to try it." Rikka tugged on Boom's clothes and whispered.

When Boom heard this, he was stunned for a moment. He didn't expect that the other party could guess his thoughts. Then he nodded slightly, turned around and walked in a certain direction.

The familiar narrow road, the familiar stench of the sewage ditch, the familiar quarrels and fights, and the familiar figure of the criminal. Boom's steps were a little slow, and he even finally stopped not far from the door of the monastery.

The iron bucket that seems to have not been replaced for thousands of years is placed on the wooden table. The nun is still a nun, and the beggars are still fighting and pushing.

However, he is no longer that boy, that orphan from the royal city who always puts food into his mouth at all costs.

The body moved forward slowly, and Rikka also handed the clay bowl he took out from the dimensional space to Boom. At this moment, he seemed to have forgotten Rikka beside him and his identity as a magician.

"Huh? Is it you? I haven't seen you for half a year. I thought you were dead. God bless you! I'll give you double food today!" The old nun said somewhat unexpectedly when she saw Boom approaching.

She was deeply impressed by this boy. She still remembered that it was an autumn night of a certain year, and he actually sneaked into the monastery's warehouse and ate many tributes to the gods.

But this little guy has been missing for several months, and even on the days when food is distributed every week, he is no longer seen. Therefore, in the old nun's understanding, Boom may have died in the slums.

But I didn't expect that this child who had been "missing" for a long time suddenly appeared today. Looking at it, it seemed that not only did he have no arms or legs, he was actually a little bit fatter.

"Thank you, goodbye." Boom turned around and left with a bowl of hot porridge that was so thin that it was almost water. He was as cold and taciturn as before.

The old nun looked at his back and shook her head, and then started to direct the chores of distributing food again. In her eyes, it was a good thing that the other person was alive. As for how he was doing, she could only pray for God's mercy.

Boom walked with the clay bowl for a long time and didn't even notice when he passed by Rikka. This made Rikka very angry, but in the end she chose to follow him silently.

As time passed by, Boom passed countless wooden houses and finally stopped in front of the small house that originally belonged to him.

Gently opening the door, the furnishings inside proved that their owners had changed a long time ago. However, most of the things were still the same as before. It seemed that there were still some black bread crumbs under the bed where I had hidden my food.

The clear water porridge is cold, but the taste is better than anything Rikka has made. Better than beef, chicken, and better than eggs and cheese.

He was still sitting on the ground as before, leaning against the wooden bed with his back, looking directly at the door. But at this moment, outside the door, Rikka's expression became very serious.

She knows that her brother is recalling the past, and she also knows that these are very precious to him. And all she can do now is to avoid anyone disturbing her, even if she kills him.

Creaking, the wooden door opened again. Boom handed the clay bowl to Rikka and continued to walk forward. Rikka quietly took out a gold coin and threw it into the room the moment the door closed.

"This is where your original master died, and it's also where I got the parchment that recorded space spells." Boom said quietly, standing in an alley.

"I remember that it was a dark rainy night, and I almost died from exhaustion carrying a metal lump like you." Boom turned around and smiled, making Rikka a little dumbfounded.

"This has been my secret base since childhood. Whenever I'm in a bad mood, I'll squat here, cursing King Ogu, and fantasizing about countless delicious foods." Boom slowly squatted in the corner, but stretched out his right hand to his arms.

, but didn’t touch the steel knife.

The dark night came quietly, and a slender moonlight spread in the alley. Boom still talked about bits and pieces of his past, while Rikka always listened quietly, neither interrupting nor asking questions.

"This is all my story, the story of an orphan. It's a bit boring." More than an hour later, Boom sighed and turned to look at Rikka.

However, Rikka had already imitated Boom and squatted by the wall. She covered her face with her hands and sobbed gently. Her slightly shaking body never stopped.

This was the first time she heard Boom tell her a story, and it was the first time she had a thorough understanding of Boom's past. She couldn't imagine how a four or five-year-old child could survive in such a cold ancient city.

, let alone the scene of eating leftovers.

If she was ignorant before, then after showing her strength, even Rikka herself felt that life was just like that. As long as she flipped her hands, she could easily earn a lot of gold coins.

But she has never thought about how Boom lived before he met her, before he became a magician.

"Brother, will we live a better life in the future? No matter how bad things are, they can still support you. As long as brother agrees, they will stay with you even if they are in the ends of the world." Liuhua asked sadly, stroking the bluestone bricks on the ground.
"It must be so, but if I don't become a junior magician in the end, then my future life will depend on you. Hey, people also want to wait for death." Boom smiled again and replied slowly.<

"Brother, there seems to be something different about you. You would never laugh twice a day before." Rikka muttered timidly, and there seemed to be endless grievances in her words.

"Isn't this bad? This issue of the Magic Monthly says that change is a good thing. I think it makes sense." Boom stood up and walked out. After tonight, he no longer had any attachment to the slums.

Now he is a magician, a magician who wants to advance.

After returning to normal, Boom took the initiative to take Rikka's little hand, and the other party clung to him obediently. Not long after, Rikka was eating sugar cake while instructing Boom to buy stuffed toys. It seemed that there was something wrong with him.

After experiencing the massacre by bears, I became deeply interested in these things.

Boom, on the other hand, always smiles. As long as it's not too excessive, he will pay for it without hesitation, acting like a slave to his younger sister.

As for the unbearable past, they are buried deep in their hearts. There are three locks on it, one is the parchment that records space magic, the other is the current stable life, and the third is something called family love.
