Chapter 57 The Old Nun and the Confession Room

A few days later, Rikka walked out of the courtyard again under Boom's repeated warnings. Life still has to go on, and even children who are frightened and cry will have a break to stop sobbing.

However, Boom always felt upset, perhaps because of his practice in magic, and he gradually became interested in the gods and ancient legends.

At noon that day, Boom was cleaning the courtyard alone, but these chores could not last until Rikka returned. So he put on his hood and planned to go out and take a look.

The noise in Aogu City is endless, people are talking to each other, suspecting, and calculating. Boom is walking on the bluestone road like a lonely ghost, looking at the sky above his head from time to time, and looking at the ancient buildings from time to time.

The state of mind will change as a person grows up. Just like after a person gets rich overnight, he first needs to go through a period of drunkenness and dreams before he gradually calms down, and even becomes a good person.

And those poor people who have been poor all their lives are always worried about food. No matter how many principles you have, it can't be worth a full meal. Kindness has nothing to do with survival.

Boom is also changing, and it can even be said that he is changing very quickly. If he were the old man, he would have already found several money bags by now, instead of "wasting time" like he is now.

Standing at the edge of the aristocratic area, Boom looked at the exquisitely carved carriages and the servants who were always smiling. He felt very ridiculous in his heart, as if he was watching a real performance.

Lunch is very simple, but Boom still likes to eat black bread. It’s not that this food is delicious, but it has become a habit, or a memory.

Squatting in a dark and damp corner, Boom pulled his robe, but then shook his head and chuckled. Once upon a time, this kind of place was his home, but now he feels a little dirty and filthy.

The index finger was pressed against the wall, and the mossy brick surface mixed with unknown liquid was still so sticky. After smelling it, it tasted like expired yogurt, and after tasting it, it was sour and greasy.

Boom looked at his hands, and after being lost for a while, he slowly covered his face. As he kept rubbing, he remembered that he was just a poor man, a helpless orphan in the royal city, and even more

He recalled countless past events that he had forgotten in corners.

No one is perfect, especially Boom. Although he has become a magician now, and although Rikka is so powerful that he earns a fortune every day, he is still often confused, always thinking about going back to that black rainy night, back to

The past days, return to a person's life.

He is not one of those gifted darlings of the gods, nor is he a neurotic prodigal. The meaning of life is very simple, just to continue living, nothing more.

Returning the dirt on his hands to the wall again, Boom stood up and walked out of the alley. The monastery in the distance was vaguely visible.

Boom is very familiar with this place. He remembers that he often went there to play when he was a child. Although he does not believe in gods, the black bread in the hands of the nuns is real.

But other people think differently. Countless poor people come here to kneel and pray every day, praying for health and safety for themselves and their families, and praying for more and more gold coins in their pockets.

The afternoon sun is warm and dazzling, and the tall stone statues are solemn and majestic. The monastery is like an isolated world, containing all crimes.

Boom sat on a long wooden chair and stared blankly at the people who were kneeling. He felt very funny, but he felt a little envious in his heart.

"If you have doubts in your heart, why don't you go to the confessional and talk to the nun?" Just when Boom was thinking wildly, someone suddenly appeared next to him.

This man was dressed in coarse linen clothes, with scars from sores covering his entire face. He was leaning against a pillar, belching wine, and looking at Boom.

Obviously, this person regarded Boom as a child of a businessman or a small noble family. Boom was not surprised by this and didn't pay attention to the other person's intentions at all.

A few minutes later, the man turned around and left, somewhat asking for trouble. Before leaving, he glared at Boom fiercely and even cursed the gods.

Boom shook his head, thinking that if he acted like this in the monastery, it was no wonder he was abandoned by the gods. However, his suggestion reminded Boom that maybe he could talk to the nun about his current questions.

Driven by this thought, Boom got up and walked to the confession room.

The confessional is a wooden pavilion divided into two small spaces by a board. People can talk about their distress and even the crimes they have committed in it.

The nuns will provide some advice or advise them to do good. And these will be regarded as a kind of confession and have nothing to do with publicly confessing the crime, let alone being arrested by the city guards and thrown into a dark cell.

Humans are such strange creatures. When they have no secrets, they always complain that life is boring. But once they have something in mind, they want to get it out.

Boom sat in the confessional and looked around curiously. This was his first time in such a place.

"Young man, can you tell me what troubles you have in your heart?" The old nun's voice seemed calm and serene, like a kind elder.

"The question is very simple. My life now has changed tremendously compared to before. This feeling is like a poor man who suddenly became King Ogu." Boom thought for a while and expressed his confusion.
"What else?" The old nun's voice sounded again.

"Also, although I have no worries about food and clothing, I have become a parasite." Boom expressed his true feelings.

This question has troubled him for countless nights. Although Rikka is his contracted beast, there is no contracted beast that is more powerful than its master. It has even become so powerful that it is beyond his reach.

"Do you like your current life? Or do you miss your previous life?" the old nun asked.

"I just want to live, life now is confusing." Boom replied.

There used to be only one person in Boom's world, and that was himself. But now he has a sister. Although he enjoys this kind of family affection, he is also worried that one day he will lose it. If this is the case, it is better to

Never had it.

"In my opinion, these are just your random thoughts. If you really feel that you are waiting to die, then why don't you try harder? Even if the results are not satisfactory, you still have a clear conscience."

The nun closed her mouth after speaking.

The setting sun has cast a red gauze on Aogu City at some point, and the people who have been working all day look exhausted, like ants that have been squeezed dry, crawling extremely slowly.

Boom gently opened the courtyard door, and Rikka's figure was standing quietly inside. The stained apron showed that the attic must be filled with fragrant food and sweet wine at this moment.

"Brother, why did you suddenly go out for a walk today? Are you tired from practicing?" Rikka held Boom's hand, still looking so cute.

"Yeah, I haven't been out for a long time. Why don't you change your mood? What delicious food did you make today?" Boom walked to the attic while chatting with the other party.

Change is not something that can be accomplished in a day. Boom is still the same Boom as before, and his heart is still full of entanglements. But as he said, people are alive when they are alive, and things that cannot be changed should be put aside for the time being. Rather than worrying about it, it is better to be diligent.

Practice more.
