Chapter 41: The Fatal Gamble

Thomas led the people to the VIP seats on the second floor of the casino, where the view is the widest and you can see everything happening below.

He took a seat on the sofa, asked someone to come over and send his son to play somewhere else, and then motioned to Chief Inspector Josh to sit in the place closest to him.

"To be honest, the crowd in my casino is mixed. It is impossible to catch all the cheaters. And who knows if you have caught them all?"

"So, I will set a rule for you. In one hour, in just one hour, whoever of you can catch more crooks will be the biggest winner tonight."

Thomas couldn't wait to watch this farce.

"So...when do you two start?"

Victor stood at the entrance of the corridor and glanced at Henry next to him: "I need Inspector Henry's assistance."

Upon hearing this, Pierce was the first to stand up and object: "Victor! You have to rely on your own abilities!"

"I'm talking about assisting, which can also be regarded as protecting me. What if the old man has a gun?!" Victor glanced at Pierce coldly.

"Everyone's firearms have been confiscated when entering the venue, even the agents of the Police Bureau." Thomas said while smoking a cigar.

"Okay! But what about weapons like daggers?" Victor kept winking at Henry, then looked at Pierce and said, "Cousin, I advise you to find someone you trust to help, so that we are fair."
Pierce was about to say something when Thomas suddenly called out to the two men beside him: "You two go protect Mr. Pierce."

Victor wanted an investigator to assist, so Thomas directly gave two of them to Pierce. This was obviously a way of establishing authority for Victor.

It seems that in his mind, Pierce is the number one successor. The other party only regarded this competition as an inconsequential entertainment event.

Now that the big boss has spoken, he has basically agreed to help from outsiders.

Henry was a little surprised. He stared at Victor strangely, not understanding the other person's reaction from just now.

Weeden on the side was holding on to the railing, scanning Henry's face with a smile on his face, as if waiting for the moment when he and Victor would make a fool of themselves.

"It's eight-eighteen now..." Thomas asked the men around him to show him the time. "The timer starts at eight-thirty. You can use the last ten minutes to discuss it."

"Wait a minute!" Victor interrupted again.

Thomas was a little impatient: "Mr. Victor, it's too late for you to regret it now."

Victor rubbed it with two fingers: "Mr. Thomas, since you want to catch a crook, you need some gambling money. I'm sure you won't be stingy with this money, right?"

……

Not long after, the sound of steam sounded, and the Kaleidoscope had left the port and was preparing to swim to the center of the lake.

The chaotic noise in the casino was masked by the huge roar of the cruise ship. The paddle wheels on both sides of the steamship rotated heavily, rolling up splash after splash of green lake water.

After coming down from upstairs, Henry dragged Victor to the door of the hall, completely unable to understand what he wanted to do just now.

"Hey! Were you stalling for time before? Okay! Now that I have a chance, I'll take you to the deck!"

Victor stuffed a stack of banknotes back into his pocket and looked at him confused: "What are you doing on the deck?"

"Jump into the lake! Isn't this your plan?" Henry said to Victor in a smart way.

Victor coughed twice with an embarrassed expression: "I don't think I have the strength to swim back to the shore."

"Do you want to eat Thomas' gun and be thrown into the lake... Wait, you don't really want to catch a crook in a casino, do you?"

Henry couldn't believe it. He had always thought that the competition proposed by Victor was just looking for an excuse to delay time.

"Of course! Anyway, if I want to get back the family assets, I have to get Thomas's nod, so I have to prove my ability. Now, the other party trusts my cheap cousin, so I have to defeat him." Victor rarely said

Calmly state your plan, "You have a very good memory, can you help me?"

Henry frowned high, still unable to understand: "But... why are you trying to catch a crook? This is not a job I am good at."

Victor nodded: "Well... because Thomas said that he hates cheating, I followed his words and made a temporary plan, and I have a plan that is very suitable for accusing people of cheating in casinos. You just need to help me write down the cards."

That’s it.”

After saying that, Victor glanced at his left hand with clear palm prints, and kept asking himself: I wonder if my secret invisible technique can help me survive tonight's death?

In proposing this competition, what he can rely on is the 'luck' that can be known in advance!

Surviving a desperate situation in the forest has proven that the 'divination operator' can indeed calculate the fortune and help Victor turn danger into good fortune.

"It's too difficult. There are at least hundreds of people in the casino..." Henry still felt unreliable.

Victor patted him on the shoulder: "Don't worry, I'll try to narrow the scope as much as possible. You just need to rely on your memory during the game to help me find the opponent's flaws!"

To quickly identify crooks among so many people, Victor needs an accurate location, down to which table and which deck of cards. And Henry, who has an extraordinary memory, can be his best assistant at the gambling table.

"I hope the hexagrams calculated are not just for me to win money..." Victor prayed silently in his heart.

……

Pushing open the side door, Victor appeared in the upper right corner of the casino, quickly attracting the attention of Thomas and others who were watching on the second floor.

The clock hanging on the wall has pointed to eight-thirty, and the crook-catching competition has officially begun.

Two thugs from Pierce and Thomas appeared on the other side of the casino, and they quickly got involved in a gambling game and were having a great time.

"Mr. Victor didn't take the opportunity to jump into the lake. It's really disappointing..." Thomas smiled at Chief Inspector Josh and said, "I also sent people to guard the deck with guns, which was unnecessary."

Listening to Thomas' casual but very bloody words, Josh's face turned gloomy and he had not spoken for a long time.

After waiting for a short while, Thomas asked the waiter to come over and open a few bottles of champagne.

"I don't think Victor can complete this mission, what do you think? Mr. Chief Inspector."

Josh, who was tortured by the depressing atmosphere, finally spoke: "I don't want to comment. In fact, I only care about the mission of the Inspection Bureau and your entrustment."

"What a boring guy!" Thomas raised his champagne and wanted to touch Josh, but the other party was very cold.

"It's a pleasure to appreciate the dying struggle of a dying person." Thomas drank to himself, "I can make a fortune in this chaotic land, and what I can learn most is the wolf's rules of survival."

"When facing prey, wild wolves in East India often make sneak attacks, but they don't fight. They only take one bite and then run away. They wait for the prey to bleed and gradually lose their physical strength before finally running out to enjoy the fruits."<

The wine glass was empty, he knocked on the bottle, and the waiter next to him continued to pour wine for Thomas.

"The United States itself is the biggest wolf..."
