CHAPTER 44 THE CONSULTANT IN QUESTIONS

"I won! Haha! Mr. Thomas! I beat him! Did you see it, everyone!"

Pierce was dancing and reveling in the middle of the hall, and the gamblers looked at him as if they were a fool.

Thomas on the second floor looked at Victor carefully, and his expression quickly changed from serious to indifferent relaxed.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

After applauding three times, Thomas said to Victor downstairs appreciatively: "Not bad, very good, you let me see a wonderful performance, and it reminded me of those happy days of watching performances in the theater. Come on up."

!"

Thomas's sudden change in attitude toward Victor left Pierce a little confused. He didn't know about Victor's bribery of security, and he was surprised why Mr. Thomas would invite a loser upstairs.

"Wait a minute! Mr. Thomas, didn't I win?"

Thomas didn't speak, but Whedon reminded him upstairs: "Pierce Dimon, you'd better go play some more games now."

Seeing that Whedon's face was not very good, Pierce guessed something and gritted his teeth without saying a word.

……

Victor and Henry returned upstairs, and this time Thomas invited him to sit on the soft sofa. The waiter next to him brought the remaining half bottle of champagne and poured it for him.

"I have changed a lot about you. Now I can admit that you are indeed qualified to inherit the assets of the Dimon family. However, if you want to completely defeat Pierce, you have to perform well in the next time."
Thomas crossed his legs and raised his glass to Victor.

Victor also raised his glass politely, and the two of them drank it in one gulp.

"Do you have any more questions?" Thomas asked tentatively.

Victor frowned and said nothing, and Thomas continued: "You must want to know why the inheritance of the Damon family will be decided by me."

Victor has also thought about this issue, but he has not focused on exploring the relationship between the two families. No matter what, the main thing is to get back everything he deserves.

"Because this is the agreement between the Damon family and me." Thomas began to answer, "Any family that is prosperous in this land cannot avoid Cornwall Energy Company."

"It is difficult to establish a hereditary plantation in such a place where birds have nothing to do. Slave owners need land, funds, serfs, guns and bullets to support them, and I provide them with these. Yours

The same goes for the Dimon family, which is a partner supported by Cornwall Energy Company at the cost of half of the equity and dividends."

Thomas' explanation was similar to what Victor had guessed in the past, so he wasn't surprised.

"Young man, you should understand that behind the scenes of any scenery, there are many invisible threads."

The audience is immersed in the performance and will not analyze the deeper reasons, just like Victor in the past.

The other party's words seemed to be showing off his identity and status, but Victor asked in reply: "So Mr. Thomas, what's behind you?"

Thomas stopped holding the glass, raised his eyebrows and replied: "When you reach a higher level, you will understand..."

The waiter handed him a clean handkerchief, Thomas wiped some champagne drops on the back of his hand, and then looked at Josh Renault in front of him, preparing to change the subject.

"Then Mr. Chief Inspector, let's continue the discussion from the beginning!"

"I'm all ears..." Josh's expression never looked good since he saw Thomas.

"The Conor Gang has destroyed countless businesses of mine, so the inheritance of the Damon family is actually insignificant in my opinion. I am more concerned about when you can put Augusta's body in front of me?"<

"With all due respect..." Josh took a deep breath, "Do you have any personal grudges between you and Augusta National?"

Thomas laughed a little angrily: "Haha... He caused me hundreds of thousands of francs in losses. Do you think we have a personal grudge?"

"No...I mean..." Josh said quietly, suppressing his emotions. He also felt quite pressured in front of a person like Thomas, "How did things happen in the beginning? Any explosion has a root.

Lead."

"We are businessmen and he is a robber. Why don't you ask this Mr. Victor? His whole family died at the hands of Augusta." Thomas was very impatient.

"Can you provide any clues about the train murder the day before yesterday?" Josh asked.

"I just made it very clear." Thomas waved and the waiter continued to pour him wine. "My consultant died in that attack."

"Who is your advisor?" Josh then asked.

Thomas became impatient: "Mr. Chief Inspector, my consultant is my consultant. Can you give me some useful reply? For example, when can I catch Augusta?"

Ahem!

Victor coughed twice and felt a little unable to listen.

"Mr. Thomas, can I say a few words? You know, I hate Augusta as much as you do." Victor dragged out the gang leader he had never met before to open the topic.

"What's your opinion?" Thomas looked up at Victor on his left.

"What I want to ask is, why was your consultant in the VIP compartment of that train at that time?"

This question made Thomas pause for a moment before he hesitated and said: "I went to Dandelion separately from him. If nothing happened to him, he should be sitting next to me now. Yes, that's where you are sitting now."

"Oh? Is it normal for the employer and the consultant to travel separately?" Victor asked curiously.

"Actually, our original plan was to travel together, and we would travel half a day in advance. Later, some things delayed us, so we traveled separately." Thomas's reply was a bit vague, and he avoided mentioning key clues.

"Is it possible that the other party's target is actually Mr. Thomas?" Henry suddenly spoke at this time. Chief Inspector Josh glanced at him appreciatively, but Weeden was unhappy with his casual interruption.

"Humph, Augusta's wish for my death is no less than my wish for his death. I knew early on that their target was me, but I was lucky and did not stay with the consultant."

Thomas said firmly.

Victor suddenly frowned: "I think differently from all of you. Could it be that the original target of those criminals is your consultant?"

As soon as these words were spoken, the agents of the Intelligence Bureau all laughed, but Victor was keenly aware of a slight dodge in Thomas's eyes.

"My consultant usually only helps me with some financial statistics and financial work. Will the Conor gang go out to kill him? What's the use? I can definitely hire other people..."

After Thomas finished speaking, he glanced at everyone in the Police Bureau. Both Josh and Weeden thought it made sense.

Only Henry glanced at Victor with some doubts in his eyes.

"There is something wrong with Thomas' advisor..." Victor reminded Henry in a low voice.

However, at this moment, a security guard hurried upstairs and whispered a few words in Thomas's ear.

Thomas' face gradually became embarrassed: "Jennifer is acting petty again?"

As soon as he finished speaking, a sharp female voice suddenly came from the big table at the end of the casino downstairs.
