Chapter 281: Seeing fire with insight

The Bound One said that he did not know. If he knew, he would not be suspected by Charlie Rost. That is the core secret of the Cigar Club.

Now that he only knows the position of the market, Mike decides to go and wreak havoc, but he has no plan for the time being.

Victor suggested that the police could be used to destroy the market, but Mike said that the chance of success was slim.

"For such a large trade fair to be held in Renekton, the interest groups involved may be quite complicated. There must be insiders from these people in the police department."

He asked someone to drag the guy in front of him down, without giving his men any instructions on how to deal with him.

Then, Mike came up with an idea.

"I can pretend to be an intermediary and go to the trading conference, and I just need to find out when they start trading."

This idea is not very creative. As just guessed, the Cigar Club must have an internal secret code. Mike doesn't know anything, how could he get in.

"Isn't this too risky? What's your purpose?"

"I want to determine who are participating in their auction, so that I can find out the details of the cigar auction."

Victor immediately stood up and patted his butt: "Then I wish you good luck, Mr. Mike."

etc……

Mike stopped him.

"I really need your help now."

Victor had a sense of trouble coming to his door. He was about to refuse when Mike quickly said: "Do you still have those yellow papers?"

He was talking about talismans. Mike knew that those talismans contained Mr. Yi's power, and the Victor Damon in front of him was Mr. Yi's only favorite, and he might still have some left.

"I can pay for it." Mike identified the need for this kind of power.

However, Victor doesn't care about the money, he just doesn't want to get into unnecessary trouble unless it is beneficial to his promotion.

Seeing that he didn't answer, Mike continued to increase his pressure: "Mr. Victor, I am confident that I can defeat Charlie Rossiter. When the time comes, the fishing port and smuggling trade in Renekton will be mine, and I promise to share a piece of the pie with you."

Hearing this, Victor's heart moved slightly.

He thought of the steel smuggling trade proposed by Will, bypassing Port Violet and Rockefeller Ocean Trading Company, cooperating with a certain ship, and both parties sharing most of the profits.

To make this transaction channel smooth, private ports are indispensable.

Mike then added an additional condition: "Only if you are willing to come with me."

Together? Going to this slave auction together?

Victor's face showed solemnity: Isn't this using him as a shield? He hopes to use himself to attract Mr. Yi's intervention?

After weighing it again and again, Victor decided to go home and think about it again.

Mike did not force him, but kept his promise and ordered his coachman to take Victor back to Incense Mansion.

Before leaving, he said to Victor: "I will find out when the auction will be held and send someone to deliver a letter to you then."

Victor was still hesitant whether he wanted to see the cruel human trafficking.

He was born into an eastern plantation family, and his family also had several serfs who worked as slaves. They produced crops for the Damon family and maintained the family's status and economy, and their treatment was almost the same as that of livestock.

Most of the time, Victor didn't care about these serfs, and he didn't know their value in the slave market, subconsciously thinking that they should be quite cheap.

However, after coming to Renekton and learning some things, he realized that his past views might have been wrong.

The value of the slave market was far more important than he imagined.

As long as those who were transported fell into the hands of the slave owner and signed the deed of sale, they would become the property of the slave owner. Not only would they lose their freedom, they would also be tied to the owner's debt and could be resold to various remote places at any time.

Just like a book Victor had read in his previous life, a black slave named Tom was resold to a slave trader because of his master's financial difficulties. The slave trader also wanted to have more slaves and asked to add a new slave.

The four-year-old child, after being overheard by the child's mother, ran away overnight holding the child in her arms.

Of course, Victor would not think about these issues when he could still sit safely on the balcony on the second floor and enjoy the breeze.

Human beings are like this. When they have vested interests, it is difficult to examine the suffering that their own class will bring to others.

It was only when his family was destroyed and he had to rely on his own hands to work hard that Victor had the heart to look at all living beings.

Sometimes Victor also feels that people like Mike are indeed too rare.

After all, it was the Holy Mother who controlled him leniently? But Mike became more vicious and used various methods of kidnapping and assassination in an endless stream.

"What a complicated human nature..."

Victor sat on the aisle of Xianxiang Mansion, staring at the living room below.

Will Evans just walked in and went home. He took off his coat and handed it to Permis to hang on the clothes hanger.

This guy kept saying he would go to the brewery for several days, but Victor never believed him, he just didn't expose it.

As long as the agreement between the two is still there, Will must give Victor half of his share, no matter how ambitious he is to gain wealth.

"Mr. Will, is there anything I can do for you?" He stood in the corridor and said to Will.

The embarrassment on the latter's face flashed away, and he went upstairs and followed Victor into the study without stopping.

"Successful! Mr. Victor! We succeeded!" Will jumped up with excitement as soon as he walked in.

Victor expressionlessly poured coffee into the cup on the coffee table.

"The captain I met before, he promised to set aside a share for us. There may be thousands of tons of warehouses available for use."

"Captain? Is this Is Ben?"

Victor read out the other party's name. Will was slightly surprised, but he didn't pay much attention and continued talking.

"He bought the property rights of the other half of the Greycove. Now the entire ship belongs to him. As long as we keep it secret, we can make huge smuggling profits through him."

Victor placed the coffee cup on Will's side, sat down on the chair and crossed his legs. He spoke in a calm tone like a breeze: "In the past, half of the property rights of that ship belonged to Luc Dillon.

,Right?"

Will had just picked up the coffee cup when his hand paused in mid-air when he heard these words.

He answered a little nervously: "Yes, sir."

Victor gently blew the steaming water vapor, and he still said in the same tone as the breeze: "Luc Dillon died and was murdered by an unknown person. Immediately, that Is Ben acquired all the property rights of the Greycove, and ours

Mr. Will Evans needs that ship to provide him with a smuggling route. This is his bright road to wealth..."

Only then did Will understand the meaning of Victor's words, and he immediately argued: "Didn't Mr. Luc die at the hands of a seer?"

"Yes, so the dwarf named 'Vader' killed Luc Dillon in revenge, but just gave Mr. Will Evans a chance. Well... I can only say that you are

lucky."

Sipping the drink gently, Victor did not look up at Will again.

The latter immediately froze on the spot. He didn't know what the master in front of him was thinking. His mind was as terrifying as an abyss.

After a while, Will gritted his teeth and said, "I...I won't disappoint you. Next...I will find a port where the cargo ship can unload the cargo."

Before he finished drinking the hot coffee, Victor put down his hands and stood up, preparing to leave the study.

Before leaving, he said to Will: "I can think of a way, but I have to remind you that no matter what you want to do, you cannot violate the agreement between us."

After Victor walked out of the study, Will breathed a long sigh of relief and suddenly found that his back was covered in cold sweat.
