Chapter 50 Dreaming

In the middle of the night, the ghost comes to the table.

The inn is quite deserted tonight. Many familiar faces have escaped from the front and entered reincarnation, but no new ghosts have joined.

There was no dead body to settle, so Zhou Shi certainly felt regretful, but more importantly, he felt lucky.

After all, every additional guest at the Yinhun Inn is one more person who will never rest in peace, and one more cause and effect that will continue to be sorted out and confused.

Taking advantage of the bleak business situation, Zhou Shi got close to Mr. Mo.

"Mr. Mo, I have to go out tomorrow afternoon and may come back later."

Mr. Mo immediately guessed what he was thinking. "You still can't let go of the scholar thing?"

Zhou Shi nodded and said, "No matter what, I promised to give the money to his mother."

"That might be a trap." Mr. Mo reminded.

"I promised him." Zhou Shi repeated.

Mr. Mo turned his face to one side and smoked silently.

There are currently two entry points into the scholar's case. One is the employer who asked him to copy books. Zhou Shi has asked Zhao Xuan to investigate; the other is the scholar's home. If what the scholar said is true, then he can at least investigate through his mother.

Social relations of scholars.

Of course, if the promise to the dead man cannot be fulfilled, he will not be able to sleep well at night.

After sending away the last table of ghosts, Zhou Shi insisted on helping Mr. Mo to the backyard.

"Ahem, do you think I'm a centenarian who can't take care of himself?"

"You were injured last time, so you'd better be careful."

"It doesn't matter, what I'm inviting is not an ordinary fairy. As long as you are in the 'upper body' state, being stabbed is the same as being bitten by a mosquito."

Mr. Mo walked through the door by himself and returned to the secret room to rest. Zhou Shi had to go back to clean up the front hall, so he did not follow him.

"Huh - I'm so tired, pack up quickly and have a good sleep on the yellow beam pillow..."

He leaned back, turned around, and met a pair of eyes in the darkness.

"Shopkeeper, who was that person just now?"

Liu Xiaosi stood stupidly by the well, trembling and asked.

He just came out to pee, but he saw the shopkeeper returning to the room with a scary-looking old man...

Zhou Shi looked up to the sky and sighed, saying: "Wait for me."

He returned to the front hall, took out the yellow beam pillow from the iron abacus on the counter, and then returned to the backyard.

"I'm sorry, Xiaosi."

He raised the yellow beam pillow and slapped Liu Xiaosi, who was still in a state of confusion, on the face.

When Liu Xiaosi was about to fall, Zhou Shi caught him in time.

He knocked on Agui's door twice, then opened it directly and went in.

"Who is it - the shopkeeper?"

Agui, who was sleeping soundly on the bed, opened his eyes in a daze and saw Zhou Shi lighting the lamp and placing Liu Xiaosi on his shoulder in his bed on the floor.

"Xiaosi? What's going on? I didn't even know he was out..."

"I fell asleep next to the hut, and I happened to catch him."

Zhou Shi covered Xiao Si with the quilt and said to Agui: "He is really too tired these two days. Let him sleep a little longer tomorrow and I will go shopping."

"How can this be done? You are the shopkeeper!"

"The shopkeeper can't be behind the counter. In this case, when you get up tomorrow, don't call me waiter, steam two steamed buns and bring them to my room."

"I understand."

Zhou Shi blew out the lights and returned to his room.

As soon as he closed the door, he realized how fast his heart was beating.

"It was too dangerous just now! Fortunately, I reacted in time... or Huang Liangzhen reacted in time... I hope Xiao Si can regard what he saw before going to bed as a dream. Anyway, as long as I bite him to death, he won't be able to produce evidence.

As long as you touch the surface of the yellow beam pillow with your head, you will fall asleep immediately, and you will not be able to wake up without smelling the aroma of food.

"Okay, it's time for me to go to sleep."

As soon as Zhou Shi touched the yellow beam pillow, he immediately entered a dream of nothingness.

"Let the dream become pure white first, and then start practicing... huh?"

A black spot appeared in his field of vision. When Zhou Shi noticed it, the black spot quickly grew in size and turned into...

There is a door floating in the pure white!

"I didn't imagine this. Where did it come from?"

Zhou Shi stretched out his hand towards it and immediately touched the door that had just kept a distance from him.

"It seems to be completely driven by my thoughts, which is really interesting..."

The door was pushed open by him gently, and the scene that appeared behind the door was...

Fengde Building?

Inside the door is the front hall of Fengde Building, where a thin figure is sitting in front of a table, shoulders high.

"That person is... Xiaosi?"

Zhou Shi hesitated for a moment, then stood up and walked towards the door.

Sure enough, it was Liu Xiaosi. He was tracing the words on a piece of paper with his fingers one stroke at a time, and was muttering something softly.

"Shopkeeper, man, Fengde Building..."

It seems that he is very interested in learning calligraphy. He is even learning it in his dreams...

Zhou Shi has confirmed that this is Liu Xiaosi’s dream.

"It seems that the dreams of people who are brought to sleep by the Huangliang Pillow are all connected."

Zhou Shi stretched out his hand and waved it in front of Xiao Si’s eyes.

Xiaosi was disturbed, raised his head, looked blankly at the empty store, then lowered his head and continued to "draw red".

"However, only as the owner of Huangliang Pillow, I can actively transform dreams and enter other people's dreams. As long as I want, I can not be discovered even in other people's dreams..."

Zhou Shi nodded with satisfaction and found that the words Xiaosi was tracing were missing some strokes and were somewhat deformed.

"Everything in the dream is created based on the memory of the owner, so mistakes are inevitable."

He stretched out his hand and tried to imagine what a pen looked like. It took him some effort to make the brush appear in his hand.

"But I can embody my own imagination in other people's dreams, but it's more laborious."

He imagined that his image was as transparent as the air, and corrected the typos on the paper with a pen. The whole process was not noticed by Xiaosi.

Then, he whispered in Xiaosi's ear:

"Hey, Xiaosi, listen, what you saw before going to bed was all a dream, and you will forget it as soon as you wake up."

It may not work, but I have to give it a try and see if I can give people hints in their dreams.

He returned to his pure white dream through the door, sat down cross-legged, and began to exercise until the smell of steamed bread woke him up.

Agui steamed six steamed buns and gave them to the shopkeeper, himself and Xiao Si. The three of them were the earliest to get up in Fengde Building. When the others woke up, they would steam steamed buns for breakfast.

Zhou Shi finished eating, counted the coins from the cash box, put the basket on his back and headed to the vegetable market.

The vegetable market is the busiest in the early morning, and major restaurants will choose to buy at this time.

The vegetable market is on the west edge of the city, making it convenient for vegetable farmers in the countryside to transport ingredients into the city. It is also not far from the river, and there are also fishmongers selling food here - although it is not as fresh as the fish market.

Zhou Shi quickly filled his backpack according to Fengdelou's menu and turned to look for the fish Xue An wanted.

"I just want him to show off his skills. We don't need very good fish, so just buying a grass carp is enough, right?"

A fishmonger was sitting on the roadside, building a wooden shelf beside him and hanging dead fish on straw ropes.

"Brother, why don't you come and take a look? This is just fished out of the river!"

He looked at it and pointed at the fattest one.

"Okay, let me weigh you..."

Suddenly, a strong arm held down Zhou Shi's hand.

"If I were you, I wouldn't buy fish here."

The person who stopped him was a handsome man in a vest, half a head shorter than Zhou Shi. The color of his skin proved that he was a middle-aged man who had been making a living on the river for many years.

The fishmonger was unhappy and said: "Hey, this is a bad rule!"

Zhou Shi glanced at the man and said, "Thank you for your kindness, but I still buy this one."

The man shrugged, turned around and disappeared into the crowd.

After taking the fish skewered with a straw rope and paying the bill, Zhou Shi walked towards Fengde Building.

The man stood in the distance and watched him leave.

"Haha, can you see the cause and effect of the dead, but not the tricks of the living..."
