Chapter 681 The Last Ambition

After New Year's Day, it's almost time to prepare for the New Year celebrations. In the past few days, the temperature has dropped completely, reaching several degrees below zero almost every day.

Especially in the past two days, the sky has been extremely gloomy, as if it is holding back and preparing for a heavy snowfall.

Cao Weidong came out of the house wearing a cotton-padded jacket.

The cold wind stirred up, and he completely woke up from his hazy sleepiness.

Looking at the empty courtyard, Cao Weidong suddenly felt lonely.

Raising a glass to invite the bright moon, facing each other into three people, this is probably what it means.

"My place has stabilized. It's time to bring my family over."

This thought suddenly came into his mind.

He hurriedly returned to the room, sat in front of the desk, and took out the letter paper from the drawer. Cao Weidong wrote letters to Lou Xiao'e and Chen Xueru who were far away in the port city, and Ding Qiunan in Tongquan City.

In the letter, he stated his current situation in Sijiucheng, and said that he had stabilized and hoped that the other party could move here as soon as possible and reunite his family.

After finishing writing, he sealed the letter carefully, affixed a stamp, and planned to take it to the post office for delivery.

On the way, facing the cold wind, Cao Weidong began to review the situation seriously.

"My main business is located in Gangcheng, Tongquan City, and Sijiu City."

"The port city is mainly based on the entertainment industry. Mr. Shao, Mr. Zou and others work for me. The Zhenhua Energy Factory in Tongquan City mainly exports biogas equipment, and has a steady stream of overseas orders and nearly 10,000 workers. It is led by Zhang

Wencheng is responsible for management."

"As for Shouzhengtang in Sijiucheng, the brand has been established, and Xu Aiguo has grown up. You can try to hand over some business to him."

Xu Aiguo has followed Cao Weidong for so many years and has experienced many things, and he can stand alone.

Nodding slightly, Cao Weidong continued to think.

"Entertainment, health care products, foreign trade and energy, these are all cash cows, which can provide me with a steady stream of cash flow, plus the antiques and old objects collected in my personal space, as well as the gold, silver and gold from the treasure house.

All kinds of jewelry, even if you say you are rich enough to rival the country, you can't even give it a lot."

"That is to say, I can finally free my hands to plan the thing I have always wanted to do."

Raising his head and looking at the gloomy sky, he couldn't help but let out a long breath.

"The chip..."

.......

chip!

chip!

chip!

This is a pain that every Chinese person cannot avoid

As a former keyboard powerhouse, Cao Weidong once imagined that one day, the motherland could achieve a chip breakthrough, lead China's industrial upgrading, and make people's lives better.

Now, he has returned to a time when the chip industry is still in its ascendant.

This is definitely the best time for him to develop the chip industry and build a chip technology empire!

And the chip is Cao Weidong's last ambition.

Chips are a very money-consuming industry. Before, Cao Weidong never thought about engaging in chips, but now that he has fattened three cash cows, it seems that he may be qualified to join the competition in the chip industry.

So Cao Weidong tilted his head and began to think about where he should start.

.......

Chip technology is complex.

But the first thing that cannot be bypassed is the photolithography machine.

A lithography machine is a tool for manufacturing chips.

Many ordinary people don't know much about it and always think that photolithography machines are like laser drilling equipment, engraving some complex circuits on silicon wafers.

In fact, a lithography machine is essentially an extremely large and complex optical projection system.

This is the most complex, sophisticated and expensive device ever created by mankind.

The difficulty of developing advanced lithography machines is comparable to that of manufacturing atomic bombs and aerospace technology, and each generation of lithography machines continues to challenge the limits of human industrial manufacturing capabilities.

Therefore, lithography machines are also called "the jewel in the crown of industry".

With more advanced photolithography machines, humans can continue to challenge the limits of chip manufacturing processes, allowing Moore's Law to continue. Electronic products such as computers and mobile phones will become more and more powerful and feature-rich.

It can be said that the lithography machine determines the performance of the chip.

And chips are the cornerstone of the information age!

When it comes to the development history of China's photolithography machines, it also started very early.

As early as 1965, China had independently developed the Model 65 contact lithography machine.

At that time, the Dutch lithography giant ASML had not yet been born, Nikon had just entered this field, and China had just begun to launch plans to develop lithography machines.

In 1978, China successfully developed the world's first commercialized 3-micron projection lithography machine.

Just two years later, in 1980, China launched the same product with an accuracy of 3 microns.

That was the dream year and the origin of China's lithography machine technology.

Unfortunately, due to various reasons, the development of China's lithography machines came to a standstill and was gradually overtaken by Western countries.

In addition to photolithography machines, there is another stuck technology, which is chip design software, also known as EDA.

EDA is a set of automatic electronic design software. It refers to the design method that uses computer-aided design software to complete the functional design, synthesis, verification, physical design and other processes of the chip. It is known as the "mother of chips".

This is also the most upstream industry in chip manufacturing. It is the key link connecting integrated circuit design, manufacturing and packaging and testing. It has an important impact on industry production efficiency and product technology level.

Cao Weidong didn't know much about the origin of EDA. He only knew that all chip design companies were inseparable from EDA software.

China has also made efforts in this regard.

In the autumn of 1978, China held an academic conference on "Digital System Design Automation". This conference finally selected 18 papers, covering automatic logic synthesis, simulation technology and other fields, marking the budding of China's EDA career in the academic field.

.

In 1988, the state mobilized 17 units and more than 200 experts to come to Beijing to discuss major issues, with the purpose of developing our own EDA software system.

In 1993, China's first independent intellectual property EDA tool came out and was named "Panda System", implying the preciousness and rarity of EDA.

The "Panda System" fills my country's gaps in the EDA field and breaks the foreign blockade.

At that time, the "Panda System" lagged behind international EDA software by about 5 years, but the price was only 1/10 of the other side. Therefore, some overseas chip manufacturers with low requirements also began to adopt the "Panda System".

Just as Panda software was developing rapidly, the three international EDA giants entered the Chinese market one after another. Domestic design companies, research centers, and scientific research institutions began to abandon the Panda system and instead adopted Synopsys' EDA software.

At this time, the domestic thinking of "it is better to buy than to make" regained its high ground, and the domestic panda system quickly fell into a trough.

Cao Weidong sighed, a little angry at his inability to argue, but also a little sad at his misfortune.

"The thought that making is worse than buying will destroy more than just EDA products?"

Can "high technology" be introduced from the West?

Cao Weidong thinks it's okay.

However, if the theoretical basis is that it is better to build than to buy, simply importing without developing one's own industry, in Cao Weidong's view, is a stupid and short-sighted behavior. This has curbed the development of China's manufacturing industry and science and technology, and has imprisoned the development of national enterprises.
