Chapter 65 Separating Two Places

It was the end of Shenshi when the carriage entered Pingyang County. It was already dark, and the city gate would be closed in half an hour.

The temperature was really low, especially after the sun went down. Wang Sen drove his wife home first, but as for Li Hui, he could still fight for it.

"Call——"

Wang Sen reined in the reins, looked at Li Hui, raised his eyebrows and asked:

"Are you sure you don't want to go? Your house has nothing. Don't let the children freeze. It's too cold today."

"It's okay, everything is fine." Li Hui declined again, "I asked Yang Yi to take care of it when I left. I think it will be enough to light a fire. Bring the things to Mr. Pan for me. We will go back in the car after we finish our work tomorrow."

He is really worried about letting his wife go and the children are at home.

Seeing that he had made up his mind, Wang Sen thought about it and drove away.

Rather than wasting time, it is better to find a restaurant and order some food for them, it will be worthwhile.

Taking out the key and opening the door, the three of them entered the house.

Li Heng yelled "Wow——" and then wandered around.

He already knew that his parents had bought a house in the county. Although it was not as big as the yard at home, it was in the county! He had always heard people in the village say that his family was rich. He had no idea before, but now...it seems to be true.

!

There is a lot of money in the county, so if you want to buy a house, buy a house. With such a rich family, he has to study hard.

"Tiedan, that's the warehouse over there. Come and take a look with your brother to see if there's any firewood?"

"I know, Dad."

Li Heng said as he went to the warehouse with Yan Yixin. When the two of them entered, they saw nothing in front of them.

"Brother, will we get cold at night?"

It's very cold today, and he doesn't want to catch a cold again after coming to the county. The water his mother boiled for Si Dan is too bitter, and he doesn't want to drink it.

Yan Yixin said nothing and led him back to the main room. Seeing a bundle of firewood in the outer room, he muttered:

"Uncle, there is no firewood in the warehouse. Do you want Tiedan and I to go out and buy some?"

Uh...

Okay. Li Hui understands that he is too idealistic.

Yang Chong did help take care of the house, but he didn't come here every day. He took out a piece of silver worth three yuan from his pocket and handed it to him.

"Take Tiedan out to buy firewood, and make arrangements for visiting the grave tomorrow. You don't need to bring it back. You can go directly to the store to pick it up when you leave tomorrow. I'll burn the house at home and wait for you to come back. Let's go out for dinner. Remember, firewood

Buy more. If you get sick, your aunt will not let me go."

Yan Yixin couldn't help laughing, took the money and nodded heavily.

"Don't worry, uncle, I will definitely buy more firewood."

I finally had the opportunity to go over and take a look, and I just let Li Heng pick and choose to see what he liked.

Just when he was fantasizing——

"Tomorrow is the day when your father will burn for a hundred days. If I guess correctly, there should be many pairs of eyes watching in the city. If you don't want to become a pauper, you can take Tiedan to the streets to show off."

"...I, I understand." Yan Yixin finished speaking in a depressed tone, turned around and left.

Sure enough, Jiang is still old and spicy, and he has no expression at all. I guessed it right.

Li Hui calmly lit the fire, filled the big pot with water, and then went into the house to burn the kang.

The two holes at the bottom of the kang were lit, and the sound of the door being pushed was heard from outside.

I thought it was the two children coming back, but I didn’t expect——

"Where are Brother Xin and Tiedan? Have you gone to buy food?"

Li Hui turned his head when he heard the sound and saw that it was Wang Sen, carrying a food box in his hand, and he instantly understood.

"I didn't buy food. I thought you would give it away, so I asked them to buy firewood."

"You really know how to put gold on your face." Wang Sen curled his lips angrily.

Looking at the house with smoke everywhere, I frowned speechlessly.

"I told you to stop bothering and just go to my house for a night. It's not like you can't stay here."

"No need." Li Hui still insisted, pointing to the firewood and saying, "Help me go to the backyard to light the chimney. The cold is too cold and I can't hold back the smoke."

"You are really good at instigating others when you are delivering food and helping me work together."

Wang Sen complained with his mouth, but honestly picked up the firewood and went to the backyard to light a fire.

Sure enough, after the chimney was lit, the smoke in the room became lighter. After Wang Sen finished his work, he was afraid that he would be assigned another job, so he said "Let's go" and left without looking back.

Li Hui pouted. He originally wanted him to help clean the kang, but now he can only rely on himself. Before leaving, he specially put some bedding and rags here, and they are just in use now.

After wiping the kang, boil the water in the pot and put all the plates and bowls left by the landlord in to cook, as well as the chopsticks.

We have been busy for almost half an hour, but the two boys haven't come back yet, which makes Li Hui very anxious.

He thought about many possibilities and many ways to deal with it. Just when he was about to find someone, the two children finally came back.

There was a man following behind, with firewood on both ends of the load.

"Dad, we are back. Firewood is very expensive in the county. A bundle costs ten cents."

The man laughed when he heard this and argued softly:

"Little baby, is it expensive to sell it for ten cents on such a cold day?"

"Why isn't it expensive? We can just cut down the mountains behind our village."

Yan Yixin pointed the direction to the man, and then explained to Li Hui:

"We arrived late and there was no firewood in many places. We bought this at a grocery store in the south of the city, far away from the river."

"It's okay, just come back. Is it cold?"

"It's cold, it feels colder than in the village." Yan Yixin replied.

After the man left, Li Hui took the children into the house. The house that had been burned for a long time was not as cold as before, and the kang was warm.

A bundle of firewood costs ten cents, which is indeed a bit expensive, but there are a lot of plows in it, so you can add a kang hole to prevent burning at night.

During the meal, Li Heng chattered about his experience of buying firewood. It was his first time in the county, so everything he saw was new.

"...Dad, the paper shop here is big. It's bigger than that old Ma's house in our town. It must be as big as three."

Li Hui listened to all the "big" words in his mouth and finally couldn't bear it and spoke:

"Tiedan, eat."

Li Heng said "Oh" and lowered his head to eat. It seemed... maybe... there might have been a little noise just now.

When the room became quiet, Li Hui kept picking up food for the two children. He noticed Yan Yixin's low mood and knew that he missed his father.

He doesn't know Yan Dawei, nor does he understand Yan Dawei. But the courage of a man who can raise a child independently without looking for his wife after she leaves is really admirable.

After the meal, the three of them simply washed up and got on the kang to rest.

One second Li Heng was lamenting the excitement in the county, and the next second he could hear his steady breathing, which was like falling asleep instantly.

After an afternoon of traveling and driving, I was really tired to be honest, but Li Hui couldn't sleep for any reason. He was turning over the pancakes and thinking about Cheng Xue and the children at home.

From the time they came here to now, apart from working separately during the day, this is the first time they have such separate rest at night.

I don’t know what’s going on at home, or whether the woman has obeyed and hung up the door.

Just as he was thinking about it, a sound of sobbing came from beside him. Li Hui turned his back to him, with mixed feelings in his heart.

Maybe this is the difference between men and women. If Cheng Xue heard him crying, she would definitely comfort her. But he would just accompany the child quietly, waiting for the child to digest it...
