Chapter 22 The Righteous Sandman

 Peter said this.

It was just as Robert expected.

This is about Peter’s adventure to the Lizard Man Company in the past half month.

"Did you know? Robert, that Dr. Connors wants to implant lizard genes into his own body!"

"So?" Robert asked.

"Would you like to prevent someone from committing suicide, Peter?"

"I just want to know about my parents..." Peter explained.

"Any clues?" Baker listened attentively and did not forget to ask.

Robert and Peter each looked at him.

After Peter got rid of his inner discomfort, he continued: "From the information I obtained, I learned that my parents were affiliated with the Federal Security Service and seemed to have died in a plane crash."

Robert simply said: "Then based on all the information, it is not an accident that you obtained the ability of a spider."

"Perhaps your father has tampered with the spiders. As long as they bite you, you will awaken the spider's ability and successfully become Spider-Man."

Peter also had this thought: "I agree with you."

"I agree." Baker seconded.

The atmosphere became silent for a while.

It was Robert who broke the silence.

"Although I don't know why you want to get involved, we don't seem to have what you want here." Robert simply made the relationship between several people clear.

A month ago, Baker and the two of them were still on hostile terms.

But now, Robert has to doubt Baker's intentions.

At least Baker is not the kind of good old guy who likes to help others - last night's trouble-making is the best proof.

Baker crossed his arms and said, "I want to become a normal person."

"That's impossible." Robert denied directly.

Peter also shook his head: "If you were a robot now, I might still be able to say a few words, but you are a sandman, take care, brother."

Baker tried to make his facial expression look kinder: "You know what? I have a daughter who has just entered high school. I want to go back to see my daughter."

Robert and Peter looked at each other.

Peter said: "I'm sorry, I don't have a daughter. I can't understand your mood. Even if I can understand your psychology, it won't help."

Robert thought for a while: "You might as well change your mind."

Baker's trembling teeth returned to calmness, and he finally relaxed his mood that was about to explode.

"What idea?"

"The idea is, do you want to be a hero?" Rob said surprisingly.

Now it was not just Baker who was confused, Peter was also dumbfounded.

Robert analyzed: "You see, you are just a homeless man now. From a certain point of view, you have no meaning in living except for your daughter."

"Yes, when I accidentally entered the nuclear test site, I should have died instead of being mixed with the sand." Baker's eyes were lonely.

"But you are still alive, and I don't think you can commit suicide now. Maybe you can try jumping into the sea." Robert suggested.

"No, that would be more uncomfortable than eating shit." Sandman decisively refused.

"Then the rest of the way will be clear."

"Be a hero." Robert emphasized again.

So, under the illumination of the street lamp, the three of them analyzed the role of hero again at the door of the convenience store.

"Spider-Man, how do you feel about being a hero?" Baker touched his nose.

"Super cool!" Peter shouted loudly.

Then within two seconds, Peter's whole body drooped like an eggplant beaten by frost.

“So tired!”

The corner of Baker's mouth twitched.

Then he turned his questioning gaze to Robert.

Robert shrugged: "I'm not a hero."

"King of Heroes, please watch your words!" Peter shouted in protest.

Robert selectively ignored Peter's troubles and continued: "But I can confirm that what Peter said is basically the truth."

"But here, I would like to remind you of two additional points."

"First, you can rob the rich and give to the poor, especially the inexplicable birdie just now. Come to think of it, you don't want your daughter's school fees to be paid by some place."

"Two, you may die. You are not invincible. But this way you can die with a clear conscience, at least not in a meaningless prison."

The sandman nodded or shook his head from time to time.

With these words, it seems that Robert wants the Sandman to be a hero, but in fact, whether the Sandman is a hero or not has nothing to do with him.

Robert just pointed out the best path for him.

He also doesn’t expect the Sandman to help him fight against the anti-heroes of Kingpin and the Hand in the future.

At least don't cause him any trouble.

Baker hesitated for a few seconds, and finally agreed: "I agree, I want to be a hero."

"You don't need to say this to me." Robert reminded.

"I just helped you analyze the current situation. I am not responsible for your subsequent actions."

"Let me ask, aren't you an organization?" Baker glanced back and forth between Peter and Robert.

"Mr. Spider-Man seems to have become famous in Queens, and Robert, you, the man in black, have also become a symbol in Queens."

"I don't think the recent appearance of Spider-Man has anything to do with you. Combined with the man in black appearing in the news, I think the man in black is you, Robert."

"The two of you fight together, and it's hard not to think that you are an organization."

Robert raised his hand: "If you think two people are an organization, I don't think I have anything to say."

"Three people should be enough." Baker nodded in agreement.

Robert held up his forehead: "Please take back this boring idea."

"Let's not talk about whether I am a hero or not. Even if I am, I don't think there is any effect in having more people."

"At least when you encounter enemies with approximately the same number of people, you won't be at a disadvantage."

Rob added: "The premise is that the strength is not far apart."

Robert was unable to explain any more.

The sand people can think whatever they want, but unfortunately there may be another "person" shouting the name of the King of Heroes in the future.

When Robert thought of that scene, he almost dug his toes into the ground.

So, Robert wittily changed the subject: "Speaking of Peter, you should investigate the situation with Dr. Connors recently."

Robert was also rude to the Sandman: "Since you want to be a hero, then a doctor who is about to inject lizardman genes is very suitable for your test."

"You just need to cooperate with Peter's actions."

"No problem." After the conversation was over, Peter put his arm around Baker's shoulders in a familiar manner.

Baker nodded thoughtfully: "What if we meet someone like Birdman again?"

"If you can kill, just kill him." Robert really didn't want to hear the vulture's cry again.

"What if something terrible happens to the doctor?" Baker frowned.

Brother, you are really a great prophet.

Robert said: "Do your best."

The lizard people that may appear have similar physiques to the sand people.

They all belong to the kind of street-level heroes who are difficult to kill.

Robert thought it was pretty good that Sandman and Peter could save his own life.

Baker and Peter nodded: "Understood."

Robert was dazed, but shook his head and smiled, then turned back to the convenience store to go on duty.

"Then I wish you a happy adventure tonight."
