Chapter 1 Corpse Puppet

On the desolate street, a zombie is wandering unconsciously.

He grinned slightly, a trace of saliva hanging on his lips, and a pair of red eyes revealed a frightening cold light.

Not far in front of him was an abandoned small supermarket. The glass door was spattered with brown blood. Through the open glass door, you could vaguely see the crumbling shelves inside, as well as some food scattered around.

Behind the supermarket door, there is a middle-aged male zombie moving slowly. Judging from his clothes, he should be a supermarket staff member.

The zombie slowly approached the supermarket. After passing by the middle-aged male zombie, he suddenly took out a bone-cutting knife from his arms, turned around and chopped off the other man's neck forcefully.

Blood splattered everywhere, and the headless corpse immediately fell to the ground.

And this weird zombie immediately grabbed a shopping bag from behind the counter and began to quickly collect food in the supermarket...

"Huh...I'm so exhausted..."

In a dim residential room, Ling Mo, who was sweating profusely, was looking at a bag full of food and various daily necessities in his hands with satisfaction.

In front of him, sat the zombie that appeared in the small supermarket. But the way the zombie looked at Ling Mo was not malicious at all, even a little hollow.

"It has improved a lot compared to the past few days. Now I can finally control it more flexibly."

Ling Mo turned his attention to the zombie, with a smile on his lips.

Half a month ago, the emergence of a new type of virus turned the world into a tragic slaughterhouse.

Countless humans have turned into zombies... to be precise, they should be crazy monsters who lost their self-awareness after being infected by the virus and can only kill...

The survivors who survived had to hide in the corners of the city to survive like rats.

But Ling Mo, who was just an ordinary person at first, discovered after the end of the world that he could control zombies.

He could feel a faint connection between himself and the zombies. The empty zombies in his head were like a mindless puppet, and he could inject his own thoughts into them to control the zombies' actions.

But the initial attempt was very difficult, and zombies often suddenly escaped his control midway, even causing him several life-threatening dangers.

As the number of attempts increased, Ling Mo finally mastered some tricks, which not only allowed him to maintain control over the zombies, but also controlled the zombies to move around and help him collect food and other necessities.

However, the distance should never be too far, which made Ling Mo a little depressed.

He felt that he was just a zombie controller now. The string in his hand was not long enough and his control techniques were not proficient.

But being able to use zombies to survive more safely made Ling Mo very satisfied with this ability. He called the zombie controlled by him a zombie.

In the process of controlling the corpse puppet, Ling Mo also vaguely felt that while he was controlling the other party, a violent feeling was also affecting him.

Whether this influence is good or bad, he can't tell yet...

These days, Ling Mo has also gained some understanding of the habits of zombies. Unlike zombies in the general sense, these zombies are not living dead, but living people infected by viruses.

However, although they are still alive physically, they are completely monsters mentally. They attack uninfected survivors and bite their flesh and blood, and their strength is astonishing, much stronger than ordinary people.

That virus completely destroyed their sanity, dominated their thoughts, and turned them into executioners driven by the killing instinct.

In Ling Mo's opinion, this kind of zombies are more terrifying than the zombies he has seen in games and movies, because they retain their five senses. Whether it is sound or smell, they will attract their attention.

"The sun is going down soon. Let's go back today."

This residential building is not considered safe, it is just a temporary place for Ling Mo to stay while controlling the corpse puppet.

After stuffing all the supplies collected today into his backpack, Ling Mo shook his head, which had a headache, and controlled the corpse puppet to stand up.

Seeing this corpse puppet standing face to face in front of him at close range, Ling Mo still felt a little weird in his heart.

Although it doesn't smell like the rotten stench in the movie, the zombie still has a strong smell of blood. The virus infection made his face pale and bloodless, and his eyes were glowing red, through the slightly opened eyes.

In the mouth, you can still see the red meat strands stuck to the teeth.

No need to think about it, this must be the residue left behind when eating people before...

This zombie looks pretty good, a boy of about seventeen or eighteen years old, but now it looks like an evil ghost.

"Let's go, let's go..."

Ling Mo suppressed his nausea and controlled the corpse puppet to go downstairs.

Although there was a corpse puppet opening the way, it did not mean that he was safe. Ling Mo held a sharp boning knife in his hand and followed the corpse puppet carefully.

From here to his temporary residence, you need to cross a street. When he came here in the morning, Ling Mo found some firecrackers and first made some noise in the opposite direction, attracting most of the zombies on this street.

Even so, there are still some zombies wandering the streets.

After reaching the intersection without any danger, Ling Mo realized that trouble was coming.

Two zombies were blocking the intersection. They came from nowhere. Their bodies were spattered with fresh blood. One of them had half an arm in his hand and was gnawing wildly.

In this provincial city with a population of tens of millions, survivors die every day in search of food, and it is not uncommon for people to die.

However, when he saw the remains of the arm, Ling Mo still felt a little sad. It was precisely because of his ability that he had the capital to live a better life. He must not become a meal for these monsters because of his carelessness.

Ling Mo carefully controlled the corpse puppets to approach them, and when he approached one of them, he raised his bone-cutting knife.

When the other zombie's attention was attracted by the sound, Ling Mo rushed behind him with a knife and stabbed him in the back of the head.

The two zombies died almost at the same time. After pulling out the knife with force, Ling Mo kicked over the corpse in front of him.

Ling Mo would not miss it if he had the opportunity to do it. Although controlling the corpse puppet was very useful, he must also have the ability to protect himself.

And Ling Mo vaguely felt that when he killed the zombies, the violent feeling in his body was faintly at work. The moment he pulled out the knife, he even felt a faint sense of pleasure.

"The virus cannot be transmitted through spiritual contact... If it can be transmitted in this way, then I have mutated long ago... If it is not the influence of the virus, then what is it..."

Ling Mo is very concerned about this subtle change, but has no clue yet.

However, being able to kill zombies cleanly and with more and more proficiency is a good thing for Ling Mo.

Before the end of the world, he was just an ordinary person. The first time he killed a zombie, it was not only a thrilling experience, but he also felt scared afterwards, and even felt a little confused.

But in order to survive, combat effectiveness must be improved.

And in Ling Mo's heart, there is always one person in mind. He quickly improved his zombie proficiency and collected as many supplies as possible in order to cross this area and find her...
