Chapter 399: The Five Pecks of Rice Sect with Deep Roots and the Tolerant Zhang Daoling

Cao Shuang thought for a while and continued: "If the Sun-Liu alliance was not on the verge of breaking up at that time, Liu Bei also looked down on Zhang Lu, teased him again and again, and poached his general Ma Chao, Emperor Wu must have forced Zhang Lu to surrender by force.

I'm afraid it's not that easy,

After all, the Five Pecks of Rice Sect started its sect in Huming Mountain in central Sichuan during the reign of Emperor Shun of the Han Dynasty, and its foundation is deeper than that of the Yellow Turban Taiping Dao, so it is not so easy to force it to surrender."

At that time, the alliance between Sun and Liu had broken down. This was actually the prelude to Sun Quan's sneak attack on Jingzhou when Guan Yu flooded the Seventh Army. Unfortunately, this incident never attracted Liu Bei's attention.

Cao Cao seized this opportunity and attacked Zhang Lu boldly and confidently! After Liu Bei learned the news, he quickly softened his stance and completed the "Xiangshui Alliance" with Sun Quan, re-dividing the territory of Jingzhou and saying: Sun and Liu are still one and the same family! To appease him,

After taking care of Sun Quan, he hurried back to Xichuan.

Therefore, Liu Bei's slow response prevented Huang Quan from reaching Zhang Lu before Cao Cao. This was completely justified and once again ruled out the reason for Liu Bei's lack of sincerity towards Zhang Lu.

Since this matter cannot be blamed on Zhang Fei for failing to make a decisive decision, nor on Liu Bei for being slow to react, we can only focus on Zhang Lu again to see what happened between him and Liu Bei, let alone

, there are really two things that make Zhang Lu deeply ashamed.

In 211 AD, Liu Zhang invited Liu Bei to Sichuan to beat Zhang Lu! After the host and guest held a hundred-day welcome banquet in Fucheng, Liu Zhang returned to Chengdu, while Liu Bei marched into Jiameng. As a result, he couldn't move here anymore.

Broadly showing benevolence wins people's hearts.

Liu Zhang was naturally unhappy. He urged Liu Bei several times and gave him weapons, personnel, food and grass. But half a year later, Liu Bei suddenly announced that now Cao Cao is attacking Sun Quan. According to the alliance between Sun and Liu, I will lead a team to rescue Soochow. You sir.

Give me more troops, horses, supplies, etc.

Liu Zhang was so angry that Liu Bei also broke out and started to rob Xichuan! So the reason why Liu Bei was able to get along with Zhang Lu during the half-year period when he stayed in Jiameng was that the two sides had secret contacts.

Otherwise, when Liu Bei turned back to seize Xichuan, why did Zhang Lu not attack Liu Bei from a flank? At that time, he only sent Yang Bo to lead his troops to defraud Huo Jun, who was staying in Jiameng.

Yang Bo said: "I am here to help you defend the city under the order of the leader." However, Huo Jun said: "Just pull me down. Even if I give you my head, you will never come into Jiameng City!" Yang Bo said nothing.

Don’t say anything, just leave!

From this "Jia Meng Dialogue" record, we can see that there must have always been contact and tacit understanding between Liu Bei and Zhang Lu. When they captured Xichuan, Liu Bei carried out careful precautions and secret warfare against Zhang Lu. Because in addition to keeping Huo Jun, Liu Bei

In addition to guarding Jiameng, another person was sent to Hanzhong. He was Li Hui.

Afterwards, Liu Bei sent Li Hui to Hanzhong to befriend Ma Chao, and Ma Chao obeyed!

Then Ma Chao "heard that the First Lord surrounded Liu Zhang in Chengdu and sent a secret letter asking for his surrender!"

When Ma Chao surrendered to Liu Bei, he also "fleeed from Wudu to Dizhong and then headed to Shu!"

In other words, all of this was hidden from Zhang Lu, "Sneaking into the village and not wanting to shoot anyone"!

It is conceivable how shocked Zhang Lu would be when these two things came out, especially when Ma Chao surrendered to Liu Bei - you big ears, are you teasing my dignified leader as a fool? The so-called attack on Zhang Lu

The damage is not great, but the insult is extremely strong!

So when these two things happened, you can imagine what Liu Bei would look like in Zhang Lu's heart: a complete hypocrite. Now compare it to Cao Cao, a real villain who even made a big deal about Zhang Xiu's aunt, who is cute?

, Credible? Naturally, in Zhang Lu’s eyes, he must be the real villain Cao Cao! This should be Zhang Lu’s state of mind at that time.

Therefore, Zhang Lu's sentence "I would rather be a slave for Duke Cao than a guest for Liu Bei" should be understood to mean that I, Zhang Lu, would rather be beaten by Cao Cao, a real villain, than I would never call myself a brother with your hypocritical big-eared Liu Bei.

The dignified leader Zhang is so upright and aboveboard.

As the saying goes, there is no love without reason, and there is no hatred without reason! For Zhang Lu, everything between him and Cao Cao was upright. He was convinced by the defeat, but was secretly teased by Liu Bei again and again, so he hated Liu Bei.

Yang Zong thought for a while and then said: "After meeting with the envoy of the Five Dou Rice Sect this morning, I looked through the files about the Five Dou Rice Sect in the treasury. Zhang Daoling, the founder of the Five Dou Rice Sect, was an extraordinary figure.

Counting from the time of birth in the Jianwu period, to the founding of the Five Pecks of Rice religion during the reign of Emperor Shun of the Han Dynasty, to his ascension to the throne in the second year of Yongshou, he lived a full 123 years, and lived through the twelve emperors of the Eastern Han Dynasty.

At that time, he hid his talents until the decline of the Han Dynasty before establishing a religion. You are really tolerant!"

His courtesy name was Fu Han, his last name was Zhang Ling. He was a native of Feng County (now Feng County, Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province). He was a student of this Tai Tai School and had extensive knowledge of the Five Classics. He once served as the magistrate of Jiangzhou.

During the reign of Emperor Shun, he went to Huming Mountain (formerly known as Heming Mountain, in today's Dayi, Sichuan) to practice Taoism. He wrote 24 Taoist books and called himself "Xuanyuan of the Taiqing Dynasty". He said that he met a "heavenly man" and was awarded the power of Zhengyiming.

Tao, founded the Taoist sect.

Those who receive the Tao will produce five buckets of rice, so it is called the "Five Dou Rice Way".

He calls himself "Celestial Master" (some say it is the honorific title given to him by Taoist disciples), also known as "Celestial Master Tao". He uses talisman water mantras to treat people's illnesses and teaches them to think about their mistakes. He has tens of thousands of followers and builds 20 buildings.

To govern the four areas, set up offerings of wine and distribute them to each household.

According to legend, he was the eighth grandson of Zhang Liang, the founding hero of the Western Han Dynasty. He was born in Afang Village, Feng County, on the 15th day of the first lunar month of the 10th year of Emperor Guangwu's reign in Han Dynasty.

Zhang Daoling's father is Zhang Dashun. He is good at the magic of gods and calls himself "Tongbai Zhenren". After giving birth to a son, he named him "Ling". He hopes to follow his ancestors, stay away from the world and climb the mausoleum to become an immortal. Zhang Daoling has been smart since he was a child.

People can read the Tao Te Ching at the age of seven.

When he was a scholar of Taixue, he was well versed in the Five Classics, astronomy and geography, and the books of Heluo Zhenwei. There were more than a thousand scholars from him. However, he often lamented that the books he read could not solve the problem of life and death, so he abandoned Confucianism and studied the way of immortality.

When Zhang Daoling was 26 years old, he served as an official of Jiangzhou (now Chongqing), but soon resigned and lived in seclusion in Beimang Mountain, Luoyang (now north of Luoyang, Henan), where he studied Taoism intensively.

Emperor Zhang of the Han Dynasty and Emperor He of the Han Dynasty successively recruited him as Taifu, Marquis of Hebei County and other positions, but they all resigned. After that, Zhang Daoling began to travel around famous mountains and rivers, visiting Taoism and seeking immortality.

First, he traveled south to the Huaihe River and lived in Tongbai Taiping Mountain. Later, he crossed the Yangtze River with his disciples Wang Chang and Zhao Sheng and went south to Yunjin Mountain in Guixi County, Jiangxi.

Yunjin Mountain has beautiful mountains and clear waters, and the scenery is quiet. It was the habitat of ancient immortals. Zhang Daoling lived in the mountain and built an altar to make elixirs. Legend has it that after three years, the elixir was completed and the dragon and tiger appeared, so the mountain is also called Longhu Mountain.

Zhang Daoling was 60 years old at the time. He heard that the people in Shu were kind and easy to educate, so he moved to Heming Mountain in Sichuan. According to legend, on the fifteenth day of the first lunar month in the first year of Han'an (142), Emperor Shun of the Han Dynasty, Taishang Laojun came to Shu and taught Zhang Daoling

"The way of upholding the power of the alliance", instructing them to eliminate demons and save the living people.

Zhang Daoling founded Taoism, respected Laozi as the ancestor, and took "Tao" as the highest belief. In the second year of Yongshou (156), he was promoted to immortality and died at the age of 123.
