Chapter 33 This book involves a dispute over interests. Die Cuiyue examines Li Ren

What you think is an endorsement is actually more than just an endorsement.

Before Jialan traveled through time, he had watched a popular program: "World Endorsement Conference". It was about a group of people, big and small, gathered in a circle to endorse, and whoever memorized the most would be the king of endorsements this season.

Apart from the rest, this show is actually pretty good.

One of the issues ended with a young man with a background in literature competing with a child for the title of king.

Jia Lan only curled his lips when he saw it. This is a dimensionality reduction attack. If you can't win, just resign.

Because what you are carrying is not in the same dimension as what your child is carrying!

This is what the imperial examination is like. What you think of the Five Classics is actually like this: Take the "Preface to Prince Teng's Pavilion" as an example. It has 773 words, not counting punctuation. Everyone has learned it, and that's all it can be memorized.

If you memorize one article a day, you can memorize more than 20,000 words of "Shang Shu" in thirty days.

Isn’t it very simple?

However, the real endorsement is just an appetizer.

You also have to memorize the annotations written by saints and Confucian masters of all dynasties. Memorizing them alone is not enough. You also have to learn to apply them flexibly in writing, and know how to use the past to describe the present.

A sentence from "Yao Dian" in the first chapter of "Shangshu": "Ruoji Ji the ancient Emperor Yao", "Fangxun", "Qin", "Ming", "Wen", "Si", "An'an", "Yun Gongke", "Yun Gongke") and "Yun Gong Ke Yi".

Just say the first six words and memorize them in one second.

But later annotations, starting from Sima Qian, the great Confucian Ma Rong, Zheng Kangcheng, etc., quoted from the Spring and Autumn Period, The Book of Songs, Historical Records, Hanshu, Three Kingdoms, Taiping Yulan, and more than a dozen classics.

You have to memorize all these classics before you can really get started in this classic.

As a result, a very real problem arises, that is, the distribution of teachers teaching this classic is very unbalanced.

Academics can never exist in isolation from the real society.

The imperial examination system interestingly combined classics with regional society. That is to say, it was quite common for scholars in a prefecture or a county-level area to choose the same classic as their classics in the imperial examination. For example, this county specializes in "

"Spring and Autumn", which county specializes in "Book of Rites", this situation is called "regional specialization".

Why do you have to go to this point? It’s because after the examiner’s questions have no answers, they will only get more and more wrong.

For example, for the four-book question, the examiner will give you a single word.

"Two"

Two! Is this the answer?!

But there is no problem with this question. If you dare to say that it is beyond the scope, you will definitely fall into a trap.

This "two" means "two tenths".

Duke Ai asked Yu Youruo, "I'm hungry every year and I don't have enough supplies. How can I do that?"

Youruo asked: "Is it true?"

Said: "Second, I am still lacking, how can I be thorough?"

He said: "When the people are enough, which king is enough? When the people are not enough, which king is enough?"

Duke Ai of Lu said that even the 20% tax I collected was not enough. If you say that if the people are rich, you will naturally be rich. If the people have no money, how can you be rich?

There is only one "二" in the question, so this "二" is an independent sentence. In the entire Analects, only the "二" in this section is independent, so any other answer is considered off-topic.

Those who wrote the questions were all tested in this way, and those who endorsed the questions could only be tested in the middle of the paper.

Therefore, if Jia Lan wins the court examination by using books as the basis of his classics, it will inevitably irritate others, especially the huge group of people who use poetry as their basis.

Therefore, there is no real academic dispute. In the final analysis, it is all about interests.

At five o'clock the next day, before dawn, Jia Lan got up gently.

As a maid, Ling Guan slept on the smoked bed in Jia Lan's room. Hearing her voice, her breathing was long and she slept sweetly.

Jia Lan quietly put on her clothes in a nearby compartment and came to the courtyard. Qin Zhong and others were already dressed neatly waiting in the corridor, and were about to say hello when they saw Jia Lan.

"Shh..." Jia Lan quickly made a silent gesture, and after thinking about it, he told Qin Shi to stay and watch the yard, and after today's exam, he would ask Jiao Da to send some people from Beizhuang.

After a brief breakfast, I walked to the middle courtyard of the academy, where many scholars had gathered around.

This monthly exam is not an ordinary monthly exam, it is a quarterly exam with questions directly set by Sunchon Academic Affairs, which is directly related to the improvement or decline of students' grades.

So all the students looked like they were facing a formidable enemy.

The floor from the central lecture hall to the main entrance is covered with desks. Only upper-level students can sit in the hall, and the rest need to sit on the floor outside.

By the end of the day, all the students had sat in their original seats, and the mountain leader Li Xuanzhu entered the room and started distributing examination papers.

Jia Lan saw that the guest he met in the mountain chief's room yesterday was also handing out test papers.

[Could this person be a new teacher?]

Just as he was thinking about it, Jia Lan took the exam paper and quickly put aside his distracting thoughts and concentrated on reading the questions.

There are ten inscriptions on scriptures, five inscriptions on meaning, one poem in five characters and eight rhymes, and one eight-legged essay.

The Tie Jing and Mo Yi test the ability to recite silently. The difference is that Mo Yi also tests the annotations of the scriptures, which tests the students' understanding of the classics.

Poetry and prose questions followed those of the prosperous Tang Dynasty, but their status in the imperial examinations has been declining. In some places, poems and essays were even failed, and those who wrote the following eight-part essay were admitted if they were good at writing.

The exam lasts from morning to noon.

Jia Lan slowly studied the ink while thinking about the title of the poem. He knew that compared to the eight-part essay, poetry was his shortcoming.

Being the first in the hospital examination was both an honor and a spur to him, especially being awarded the rank of seventh-grade unofficial official at the provincial wedding banquet, which put him in the eyes of some people, so Feng Ziying told him to be careful yesterday.

After thinking carefully for a long time, he slowly started writing. He first wrote the poem on the draft paper, then went back and finished writing the previous Tie Jing questions and Mo Yi questions, then picked up the draft paper and continued to polish the poem, and then copied it onto the paper.

.

The last question about eight-part essays is from "The Analects of Confucius" "Benevolence is the beauty, how can you know if you choose not to be benevolent?"

Zheng Kangcheng's note: "Li is the place where the people live. Living in the place of benevolent people is beautiful. If you seek to live in the place of benevolent people, you will not be wise." Zhu Xi's annotation is similar, interpreting Liren as the place of residence.

Although there is controversy in later generations, in the world of Red Mansion, this is the official explanation. Candidates need to solve the problem within this scope, otherwise it will be off topic.

Jia Lan thought about it for a long time before writing the first sentence: "To do good, you must be careful about your habits, so you must choose the place where you live. Good things are in my ears, what harm does it do to others, and a gentleman must choose the place where he lives.

Be careful with your habits."

It starts with an even-keeled breakdown of the topic, and then it is explained that the environment has a great influence on the formation of human character. It also lists the example of Meng's mother moving three times to illustrate the importance of the environment.

Going a step further, use the perspective of contradiction theory to analyze the changes in external causes and internal causes.

Finally, I use the original text of Confucius: "If a person is not benevolent, what is etiquette? If a person is not benevolent, what is joy?" In the final analysis, people are beautiful if they have benevolence in their hearts.
