Chapter four hundred and fifteen escape

Short and powerful gunshots rang through my ears, and lethal bullets intertwined into a dense fire net.

The random bullets pierced the bodies of the Japanese soldiers and blew their heads off. For a while, scarlet blood spattered and they wailed continuously.

The horses under the crotch of the Japanese cavalry were also covered with blood holes under the intensive firepower, and they fell to the ground with a mournful scream, and the Japanese on the horses were thrown high.

The shooting range at Xiaohe Bridge was good, but now it became a nightmare for the Japanese cavalry. They were crowded together and became a living target for Yang Ling and others.

Some Japanese cavalry dismounted and lay down on the bloody corpses, raising their guns to fight back, but when a string of grenades were thrown over, they too turned into bloody corpses.

The flames of the grenade explosion shrouded the bridge head, and splashing explosions and gravels radiated everywhere. The frightened horses went crazy and did not recognize the way. They jumped into the river with the Japanese cavalry and suddenly turned into drowned rats.

.

The Japanese commander roared loudly and retreated, but the wooden bridge was narrow and could only accommodate two cavalry retreating at the same time. However, under the raging rain of bullets, there was time for more than a hundred of their cavalry to retreat calmly.

More than a dozen Japanese cavalrymen who had fallen behind turned around and ran onto the wooden bridge. They thought they had escaped, but machine guns in the bushes not far away rang out.

The machine gunners were all veterans who had narrowly escaped death. They fired short and precise three-point shots and named the Japanese cavalry exposed on the bridge one by one.

The bullets hit the Japanese cavalry so much that they were covered in blood mist and fell into the water like dumplings. In an instant, the river water was dyed blood red, like a dye vat.

The machine guns blocked the retreat of the Japanese cavalry. Anyone who rushed onto the wooden bridge was beaten to pieces and fell into the water. Seeing that the retreat was cut off, the commander of the Japanese cavalry became furious.

The commander of the Japanese cavalry raised his sharp saber high and led the remaining dozens of Japanese cavalry to charge Yang Ling and the others against the hail of bullets. The distance of more than 100 meters was reached in an instant.

If a group of new soldiers encountered the Japanese's desperate charge, they would have been frightened by the overwhelming aura and would most likely collapse.

But people like Yang Ling and others are veterans who have fought tough battles, so they will take the little devil's tricks seriously.

"Grenade hello!"

Yang Ling took off the grenade hanging from his waist, unscrewed the cover, pulled the string and threw it towards the group of Japanese cavalry.

The grenade exploded in the air with a loud bang, and the explosive fragments flying everywhere immediately disfigured the four or five Japanese soldiers, embedded deeply into their flesh and blood, and knocked them down one by one.

The brothers were also unceremonious and threw strings of grenades with their arms. This explosion was full of fire and smoke, and it was very lively.

When the smoke cleared, all the remaining Japanese cavalry were brought down to the ground. Those who were still breathing were twisted and wailing on the ground, losing their combat effectiveness.

Shunzi and his men rushed forward with bayonets in hand, and stabbed the remaining Japanese soldiers one by one. In an instant, only corpses were left on the ground.

Seeing that more than a hundred Japanese soldiers fell prey to their guns in the blink of an eye, while only four or five of the brothers were injured by stray bullets, the ease of the battle made them feel a bit unreal.

In the past, every time they interrupted the blocking battle, they suffered heavy casualties, but this time they killed so many Japanese with zero casualties. They looked at Yang Ling with admiration. It turned out that the battle could still be fought like this.

Yang Ling and the others unexpectedly destroyed the arrogant Japanese cavalry and fought a beautiful battle of annihilation.

The sound of fighting gunfire made the Japanese behind think that the cavalry troops had bitten the retreating Chinese army, and a motorized infantry squadron immediately accelerated towards the battlefield.

"The devil is here again!"

Looking at the roaring three-wheeler and the dazzling sun flag, the vigilant sentry shouted.

"Damn it, the little Japs are coming so fast!" The brothers who were cleaning the battlefield had to hurriedly lie down and hide behind the river embankment, preparing to fight.

Although Yang Ling and the others managed to kill more than a hundred rash Japs cavalry by surprise, the gunfire also exposed them. It was no longer possible to ambush them, and they could only rely on the river embankment to slow down the Japs' pursuit.

The newly arrived Japanese squadron leader saw through his binoculars the dead cavalry troops on the other side. After secretly cursing idiots, he ordered the troops to attack.

The Japanese squadron leader looked at the wooden bridge stained red with blood, and sent out a machine gun-mounted vehicle to attack while firing, trying to rush across the wooden bridge.

But Yang Ling and the others were already prepared. With a loud bang, the Japanese soldiers' tricycle and the entire wooden bridge were blown to pieces in the flames of the explosion. The entire wooden bridge was destroyed by Yang Ling and the others.

Seeing the broken corpses and rotten wood floating on the river, the Japanese squadron leader gritted his teeth with hatred and had to send people across the river to attack.

Part of the Japanese troops dispersed with a roar, sliding down the river along the embankment with widely spaced skirmish lines, preparing to wade across the river.

There were also some Japanese soldiers who were lying on the other side of the river embankment and shooting. The grenades were set up and they were bombarding Yang Ling and the others at random. The explosions sent mud and mist flying in random directions to cover the Japanese infantry who were swimming across the river.

Yang Ling and the others fought tit for tat, firing machine guns at the Japanese soldiers swimming across the river, sweeping them down one by one in the water and turning them into floating corpses. The river became thick and bloody.

More and more Japanese troops arrived on the other side of the river, and the Type 92 infantry artillery began to fire at Yang Ling and the others. Weeds and gravel were thrown into the sky, and the brothers began to suffer casualties.

The density of the Japanese soldiers swimming across the river continued to increase, and grenades were thrown into the river, exploding blood-red water columns. Although Yang Ling and the others fought tenaciously, there were more and more Japanese soldiers.

"retreat!"

Seeing the Japanese troops arriving on the other side, Yang Ling knew that it was difficult for them to compete with the strength of their battalion, so he reluctantly ordered a retreat.

A group of more than a hundred Japanese who were the first to swim across the river saw Yang Ling and the others trying to run away, so they chased after them with no shoes on and howling.

But as soon as they stepped onto the river embankment, with the sound of an explosion that shook the ground, they triggered the mines planted by Yang Ling and others, and a large number of them died in the flames of the explosion.

"Baga! Baga! Way to go!" The Japanese squadron leader was so angry that he almost vomited blood. His eyes were red and he let the troops chase him wildly.

The Japanese engineering troops were extremely strong in field operations. Although the wooden bridge over the creek was bombed, in just twenty minutes, a solid bridge reappeared across the creek.

Tanks rumbled across the bridge one after another, rolling up dust all over the sky and chasing Yang Ling and the others. Yang Ling and the others also tried their best to run for their lives.

Fortunately, Yang Ling and the others had undergone armed cross-country training, and they ran like a gust of wind, disappearing in an instant, leaving the chasing little Japs stunned.

But the little Japs didn't intend to let them go, and chased them with all their strength. It seemed that they would not give up until they caught up with them. But just now they could see Yang Ling and the others from a distance. With several loud rumblings, the Japs running in front of them

It was blown up into the sky by a landmine.

Yang Ling laid many landmines along the way. The real and fake mines made the Japanese scratch their heads. If they were not careful, they would be blown to pieces, which made the Japanese almost crazy.

The Japanese wanted to catch up and cut Yang Ling and the others into pieces, but the ever-present mines made them dare not be careless. As they went back and forth, the pursuit could not help but slow down.

Yang Ling and his regiment were fighting and retreating at the same time. All kinds of tricks appeared one after another, which slowed down the Japs' pursuit. In the evening, Yang Ling and his regiment had successfully escaped the pursuers and entered Henan.
