Chapter four hundred and fifty seventh hand-to-hand combat

Gray smoke covered the scorched earth flowing with black blood, and hundreds of red-eyed brothers fought fiercely with the fierce and ferocious Japanese.

The gun butt cracked the skull, the broadsword danced wildly with blood, the bayonet nailed the dirty body to the ground, stones, teeth, fists...

In this white-hot battlefield, everything available around you has been turned into a killing weapon, and fresh life is constantly disappearing.

The strong blood and anger stimulated the farmers who were honest and humble before joining the army. Faced with the little devil whose eyes were shining like beasts, they became ruthless and risked their lives.

The screams and angry tiger roars were mixed with the dense gunfire. The Japanese's thrusts were fierce, but they could not stop the brothers who were fighting desperately.

The military uniforms of the brothers were covered in scorched earth and bloody water. Their eyes were red and their hair was unkempt. Facing the bayonets that penetrated their bodies, they grinned in pain and fired the grenades without hesitation.

Accompanied by the dull explosions of grenades, people on the melee position were blown up and thrown high from time to time, including their own brothers and those Japanese with fierce faces.

The stinky internal organs mixed with the plasma made the scorched earth under their feet slippery, and eventually the blood flowed into a river, and their feet became a piece of blood mixed with minced meat.

The Japanese captain Ono Ichiro, who was standing on the mountainside and commanding, had his facial muscles twitching violently. His heart was bleeding when he saw his subordinates being held together by Chinese soldiers and being blown up into clouds of blood mist by grenades.

Every soldier under his command is an elite soldier who has undergone rigorous training, but it is not worth it to be killed by a weak Chinese soldier with a grenade!

"Brothers! Charge! Charge up quickly!"

The commander of the first battalion, Lu Xing, was leading two other companies to attack the enemy's positions on the left and right wings. When he saw that this was breached, he immediately gave up on confronting the enemy and turned around to lead his men in an attempt to rush in through the gap opened by the first company.

Hundreds of fresh troops rushed into the fighting group, and the more than ten Japanese soldiers who faced them were directly dispatched with bayonets. The balance of victory on the battlefield quickly tilted towards the Chinese army.

"The Fifth Squadron attacks! Press down the Chinese!" Seeing the melee group's position, Ono Ichiro had to mobilize additional troops for reinforcements.

Nearly two hundred Japanese soldiers swooped down from the top of the mountain like tigers descending from the mountain, and ran straight into the battle group. Blood and flesh flew everywhere for a while, and the hand-to-hand combat became even more fierce.

"Quick! Rush!"

An infantry battalion led by Second Battalion Commander Chen Ming was also ordered to come up with reinforcements. They crossed the trenches and the corpses scattered on the ground and rushed in quickly.

Seeing hundreds more murderous Chinese soldiers coming for reinforcements, Ono Ichiro knew very well that if they were allowed to charge forward, the front line would definitely be lost.

"Machine gun squadron! Block the fire! Block the Chinese!"

"Artillery squadron, stop the Chinese reinforcements!"

...

Ono Ichiro reacted quickly and deployed artillery and machine guns halfway up the mountain to fire in unison, desperately firing at the reinforcing Second Battalion.

"Teng Teng Teng——"

A crossfire net composed of several Type 92 heavy machine guns crossed the melee melee position and began extended shooting. Bullets like exploding beans were directed at Chen Ming's brothers from the second battalion.

"Puff!"

"Well!"

"ah!"

Facing this violent rain of bullets, the Second Battalion, which was rapidly advancing toward the breakthrough position, suddenly fell over, blood and flesh flying, and many brothers fell to the ground wailing.

"Boom-boom-"

The Japanese mortars deployed on the top of the hill also began to bombard. The shells continued to explode among the people who were jumping forward for reinforcements. Mud and mist flew up, and smoke covered their eyes.

A shell exploded next to Second Battalion Commander Chen Ming. He felt as if he had been pushed hard, and his whole body flew backwards and hit the trench wall. His head felt dizzy.

He struggled to get up and shook his head to wake himself up. Looking through the smoke screen, he saw that his brothers were being harvested by bullets and blown to pieces.

The overwhelming silt, sand and gravel were swept up in the smoke, and he had to shout: "Hidden! Hidden!"

The second battalion, which was trying to reinforce, was suppressed by the enemy's blocking fire network and could not move at all, while the first battalion, which was fighting in a bloody battle hundreds of meters away, was already crumbling.

Although the brothers in the first battalion were tenacious and brave, they faced tough little Japs. Due to long-term malnutrition, they were far inferior to the Japs in terms of stabbing skills and strength, and now they were at a complete disadvantage.

"Call the artillery and suppress the Japanese artillery fire!"

Seeing that the reinforcing Second Battalion was blocked by Japanese artillery fire and machine guns and was unable to rush forward, the regiment leader Zhang Handuo was as anxious as an ant on a hot pot.

The call was made to the artillery battalion, but the reply was that the artillery shells had been used up.

"Go to hell!" Zhang Handuo, the regiment leader, threw away his helmet angrily.

Seeing that the first battalion was exhausted from the hand-to-hand fight with the Japs, the second battalion was blocked by the Japs' fire and unable to rush forward. This was not an option if it continued like this.

"Members of the group, please withdraw the brothers. If we fight again, we will all be wiped out." Yang Ling had to suggest to the group leader, Zhang Handuo, that he should withdraw and find another way.

But Zhang Handuo, who was furious, could not listen and tried to dissuade him: "We can't withdraw! We have to take down the position even if we all fight today!"

"Go tell Chen Ming, if you can't rush forward I will kill his head!" the regiment leader Zhang Handuo ordered fiercely to Luo Heng, the regimental subordinate next to him.

"Yes!" Regiment Attachment Luo Heng stood up and saluted, climbed out of the trench and jumped into the smoke.

Seeing that the regiment leader Zhang Handuo would not give up until the Minshan position was taken, Yang Ling was helpless and ordered to the back: "Let the third battalion come up and use machine guns to suppress the Japanese reinforcements!"

The Third Battalion acted as a reserve force and was always ready. After receiving the order, it quickly moved up.

Under Yang Ling's order, all light and heavy firepower opened fire one after another, beginning to block and fire the Japanese troops who were reinforcing the melee battlefield.

Both sides tried their best to suppress, block and shoot the other's reinforcements, while the two sides fighting hand-to-hand in the center of the battle roared and fought amidst the hail of bullets, and the shouts of killing shook the mountains.

First Battalion Commander Lu Xing's body was covered with broken meat and bones. He was carrying a bloody sword and kept hacking at the Japanese soldiers who rushed in front of him. Four or five Japanese soldiers turned into decapitated corpses.

Many of the brothers who fought hand-to-hand were so killed that their bayonets were curled, but in a life-and-death hand-to-hand fight, no one dared to be careless.

A Japanese soldier raised a knife and chased a young brother to chop him. Finally, the pursued brother turned around and stabbed him out with the barrel of his gun.

The Japanese sergeant never understood until his death how a rifle without a bayonet could pierce his body, but the excruciating pain made him slide to the ground unwillingly, twitching, and soon mixed with the blood and water on the ground.
