Chapter Five Hundred and Thirty Interspersed Troops

The thick smoke lingered in the mountains and forests, and the sky became gray and dark. Fatigue and hunger greatly weakened the combat effectiveness of the Japanese soldiers.

Those Japanese soldiers with haggard faces and blood-red eyes, their uniforms had long been beaten into rags. They were like ferocious trapped animals, attacking the blocking position from all directions.

The dead branches and leaves were burning with thunderbolts, and the black ash was drifting left and right with the mountain wind. Several brothers lying in the foxhole still maintained their shooting posture, but they had not moved.

There lay a large pool of black blood seeping into the soil.

Three exhausted Japanese soldiers stepped onto this tiny blocking position through the thick smoke. When they saw the dead Chinese officers and soldiers, their tired faces showed a look of relief.

It was such a position that they almost ignored in normal times, but this time they had to go to great lengths to capture it, and they paid the price of eleven people for it.

Although the price was heavy, it was finally won. The Japanese soldier, who was blackened by smoke, raised his dusty bayonet high and stabbed a corpse fiercely as if to vent his anger.

"Pfft!"

The bayonet penetrated the body of the Chinese officer and soldier whose temperature was rapidly fading away without any hindrance. When it was pulled out, the bayonet had turned a brilliant blood red.

The other two Japanese soldiers also walked toward the other corpses lying in the foxholes with their bayonets lowered, and then stabbed them hard to make sure there were no survivors.

When a Japanese soldier stepped towards the last Chinese officer lying on the ground and wanted to complete the task of finishing the attack, suddenly a pair of blood-stained hands suddenly grabbed his ankles.

The Japanese soldier was stunned and before he could react, he felt a strong force coming from under his feet. His body fell involuntarily and fell heavily to the ground. The gravel on the ground came into contact with the body that hit the ground. The Japanese soldier couldn't help but let out a cry.

Screaming in pain.

The other two Japanese soldiers looked over at the same time, just in time to see a bayonet plunge into their companion's chest, pull it out and stab it again.

Their companion was shouting and struggling, but the blood coming out of his chest made his voice so weak that in the end he was only twitching.

Seeing the enemy whose face was no longer clearly visible, looking towards them with a bloody bayonet raised and licking his chapped lips, the two living Japanese soldiers could not help but feel a chill.

"Baga!" The Japanese soldier was irritated. He cursed and quickly pulled the bolt of his gun and tried to shoot, but he had already run out of bullets.

At this moment, the Chinese soldier with the bloody bayonet tightly clutched in his hand was already rushing towards him. The Japanese sergeant was a little angry and rushed towards him with his bayonet straight out.

The Japanese Sergeant's bayonet stabbed across the lower ribs of the veteran company commander Shunzi. A bloody cut made him grin and fight to be injured, but his body had already hit the Japanese Sergeant hard, and the gun in his hand

The bayonet stabbed into the Japanese's stomach without hesitation.

The Japanese Army Cao let out a shrill wail in pain, and knocked Shunzi over with the butt of his rifle. He also fell to the ground helplessly, clutching the bleeding gash in his stomach.

Shunzi was knocked unconscious by the butt of the gun and struggled to get up, but he had exhausted all his strength and struggled twice before he could get up.

But when he saw the Japs Sergeant, who was only half alive, covering his wounds in horror, he gasped and grinned, his smile so feeble.

Another Japanese soldier reacted to this electric spark-like battle, roared angrily, and charged forward with his bayonet pointed straight out, wanting to kill this enemy who had almost no fighting power.

Looking at the Japanese soldiers rushing over, Shunzi really had no strength left and could only watch helplessly as he rushed over. Thinking that he was about to die, Shunzi's face showed a look of relief, without even the slightest hint of relief.

It means to dodge.

Just when the Jaap thought he was sure to kill him with one blow, a man rushed out of the smoke and knocked over the Jag. The Jag's body fell heavily into the foxhole.

"Come here and help me!" The man who rushed over didn't have much strength left. He couldn't hold the Japanese down after he threw him, so he hurriedly shouted towards Shunzi.

After being stunned for two seconds, Shunzi saw clearly that the man rushing towards him was the Third Platoon Commander. Seeing that the thin Third Platoon Commander was about to be suppressed by the Japanese, he hurriedly struggled to get up to pick up the bayonet he had thrown away.

The two exhausted men worked together and smashed the remaining Japs into sieves. When the Japs stopped moving on the ground, the two men let go of their sticky and bloody hands and lay down almost powerless.

Breathing heavily on the ground.

The Japanese sergeant lost too much blood and died. Sporadic gunshots were still heard in the distance, and there were not many Japanese bullets left. The two survivors looked at each other's blood-covered faces and laughed weakly.

"How many brothers do we have?" Shunzi asked breathlessly.

The veteran platoon leader replied: "I don't know about other positions. I am the only one left in our platoon. I thought the position was breached. When I heard some movement here, I came over to take a look. I didn't expect there were still people alive."

"We are still alive and our position has not been breached yet."

Shunzi fumbled for a crumpled cigarette from Jia Zibing's body, lit it shivering on the burning rotten wood, took a deep breath, and spoke with a firm gaze.

An hour ago, there were loud shouts of killing in the positions around them, as their brothers and the Japanese who rushed to the position were fighting to the death, but now it was eerily silent.

But Shunzi and the others had already entertained the idea that they would die, that is, unless they all died, the Japanese would never be able to calmly walk out of the mountainous area.

"Are the brothers from our brigade coming soon?" the veteran platoon leader asked with some uncertainty as he took the half cigarette handed over by Shunzi.

Shunzi listened carefully to the gunshots in the distance that were sparse and dense at times, and said uncertainly: "It should be coming soon, the sound is much closer than before."

"That's good. Even if we die, we can get a group of Japanese soldiers to support us. This is a good deal..."

While the two people were talking, a rustling voice sounded, and a group of people in the same ragged clothes stepped on the corpses on the ground and stepped into their position.

Looking at the overlapping corpses of both sides on the ground, leaving them with almost no place to stay, they could imagine what a brutal blocking battle this was.

Shunzi and the others looked at each other when they heard the sound, silently picked up the bayonets and held them in their hands, preparing for the final battle.

"Let's see if anyone is alive." The person who came was not a Japanese. He spoke in Chinese.

Shunzi and the others were ready to die. When they heard the sound coming from the hazy smoke, they couldn't restrain their joy and struggled to get up.

"There are still people alive!" Seeing Shunzi and the others helping each other up, a platoon leader shouted happily, and everyone in the smoke rushed over.

When Yang Ling and the others were completely depleted and were about to be unable to hold on to the defense line blocking the Japanese, two battalions of the 74th Army crossed the thorny and dangerous mountains and came over with reinforcements.

When they saw groups of reinforcements quickly taking over the positions, the surviving brothers couldn't help crying with joy.

They were not afraid of death, but they were afraid that even if they died, they would not be able to stop the Japanese, so this blocking battle would be meaningless. Now that they saw the reinforcements coming, they could finally rest assured that the Japanese 6th Brigade could not escape.
