Chapter 20 Siege

On November 28, the 18th year of Chongzhen's reign in the Ming Dynasty, the 30,000-strong coalition army of Chen Bangchuan and Cen Jifu, with the power of Mount Tai, reached the foot of Qianjiang City.

As long as they encounter villages along the way, regardless of whether they surrender or not, they will kill them all, burn them all and rob them, leaving blood and flesh flying everywhere, and the people will suffer.

Zhu Hengjia, who had retreated to Qianjiang, had already ordered people to bulldoze all the trees and houses within three miles outside the city. He also dug trenches along the city, laid traps, iron caltrops, wooden piles and other objects under the city to collect water sources and food.

Looking at the ten general cannons at the top of the city, Zhu Hengjia became energetic. These cannons were shipped from Wuzhou. Because they were too heavy to be carried in mountainous areas, they were left in Qianjiang. Now they have a place to use.

In addition to the general cannon, there are more than 20 Franco cannons at the top of the city. In order to enhance the strength of defending the city, Zhu Hengjia moved the Franco cannons on the Liu Guishui camp warship to the head of Qianjiang city.

In the small town of Qianjiang, only the south gate and the west gate can be entered and exited. The east gate and north gate are water gates. The east gate faces the Qingshui River and the north gate faces the Hongshui River. Jingjun’s ships were parked on the Hongshui River in dense numbers. Zhu Hengjia

We are well prepared. If we cannot hold Qianjiang River, we will retreat to the other side of the river. It is important to save our lives.

Zhu Hengjia guarded the west gate and ordered Shi Qiwen to guard the south gate.

Under the dragon banner at the west gate, the guards guarding the flag were holding swords and looked majestic. Zhu Hengjia looked at the enemy troops with a solemn expression.

The wilderness, fields, and official roads are full of Chen troops, continuous and flowing like a river.

While Chen Jun was setting up his position, he was beating drums. Hundreds of war drums sounded at the same time, creating an astonishing momentum.

Outside the west gate of Qianjiang City, Chen Bangchuan rode a war horse and mobilized in front of the array of seven chieftains: "My sons, I won't talk about the truth. I will capture Qianjiang City and let you search for three days."

"Wonderful victory!"

The soldiers' morale was like a rainbow and they cheered thunderously.

Chen Bangchuan had been in Sien for many years and was well aware of the habits of the native soldiers. He first allowed them to rob the village, and then claimed that after breaking the city, he allowed them to rob for three days. This was really "leading the troops in a wise way", which immediately aroused the ferocity of the native soldiers.

.

Accompanied by horns and rhythmic drums, the soldiers carried ladders and pushed carts, slowly moving towards the city wall.

Chen Bangchuan, however, ordered his troops to rank behind the local soldiers. These were his hard work and lifeblood, and he could not bear to waste them in siege warfare.

Moving to Jiangnan Gate, Cen Jifu quietly ordered his soldiers to bluff and not to get too close to the city.

Seeing Chen Jun in front of the west gate marching in with the drums, Zhu Hengjia sneered and ordered the drums to be beaten.

"Dong, dong, dong", the war drums of Jingjun on the top of the city beat rhythmically as Chen Jun moved.

"The enemy is about to attack the city, all troops should return to their respective positions!"

"Anyone who disturbs the morale of the army and panics will be killed!"

"Anyone who doesn't listen to orders and looks around will be killed!"

"Anyone who escapes from battle and abandons his ordnance will be killed!"

??

Military orders were issued one after another, and the sergeants of the Jing Army acted according to the orders, waiting for the war to come.

Chen Jun blew the horn of attack, and hundreds of trench-filling vehicles and hundreds of catapults slowly moved toward the trenches outside the city wall. Behind the catapults were long players, archers, and firecrackers.

"Gunners, prepare, fire off", the Jingjun artillery commander Zhao Erhu quickly ordered.

The cannons and catapults on the city fired shotshells and stone projectiles at the enemies below the city.

"Bang!" A trench-filling truck was hit by a stone bullet and fell apart.

"Ah!" Several soldiers who were in charge of filling trenches were killed by artillery fire.

"Hoo!" A catapult caught fire.

The soldiers braved the rain of artillery and slowly filled the trench little by little.

Behind the trench-filling truck, soldiers pushed hundreds of catapults toward the city and fired stone bombs to cover the trench-filling.

Behind the soldiers, Commander Chen, who was responsible for covering, formed a wall. The archers and fire commanders were behind the wall, shooting at the city head, covering the catapults for bombing and the trench-filling vehicles for filling the trenches.

Two days later, Chen Jun finally filled in the trench at the cost of a thousand lives.

A more intense battle begins.

??

"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh", the Jing army on the city shot a positioning arrow.

"One hundred and fifty steps, archers prepare!"

"One hundred and twenty steps, fire gunners are ready!"

"First team, shoot!"

"Second team, shoot!"

"Team 3, shoot!"

Guns and bullets, bows and arrows were shot down like a curtain of rain on the city, and the Turkish soldiers fell to the bottom of the city one after another.

The soldiers finally rushed to the city. The archers and gunmen of the Jing army no longer fired volleys, but hid behind the arrow stacks and fired bursts to knock down the enemies who were rushing up.

"Kill", a soldier climbed up the city wall from a ladder and hacked a Jing soldier to death with a sword; "kill", a Jing soldier stabbed a soldier down with a spear; a rush car just rushed towards him

When they reached the city gate, they were smashed into pieces by huge rocks; a goose cart was set on fire by kerosene at the top of the city??

In five days, Chen Jun lost 3,000 Turkish troops but made no progress.

??

At the Chinese army camp in Chen Bangchuan, Qianjiang County, Duyang chieftain Wang Long cried to Chen Bangchuan, "General, we can't fight like this. If we continue to fight, all my sons will be killed." Wang Long's two thousand native soldiers suffered 500 casualties.

Much.

"Chief Wang, don't be anxious. When Qianjiang is conquered, I'll let you capture two thousand slave boys," Chen Bangchuan reassured.

"General Chen, it's not that I don't try my best, it's that we really can't attack the city. Let your troops attack the city tomorrow," Wang Long said angrily.

"Okay, I will attack the city in person tomorrow." Chen Bangchuan felt that if he kept letting the soldiers attack the city and did not move, it would be difficult to lead the soldiers behind him.

"General, Cen Jifu at the south gate has been feigning an attack to preserve his strength, with ulterior motives. Our Turkish army has suffered too many casualties, and its morale is unstable. It is better to withdraw to the Daming Mountain defense," Hu Zhigong advised.

"I understand what you mean, sir. Tomorrow I will personally attack for a day. If we can't attack, we will withdraw to Daming Mountain." With Lianjiang City so close, Chen Bangchuan was a little reluctant to leave.

"Alas!"

Hu Zhigong stopped trying to persuade him and felt vaguely uneasy.

??

In the Qianjiang County government office, Huang Wan was rubbing Zhu Hengjia's shoulders.

Originally, Zhu Hengjia left Huang Wan in Xunzhou, which was far away from the battlefield and safe. However, Huang Minghe brought two thousand local soldiers from the Yong'an Huang family to accompany Zhu Hengjia on the expedition. Huang Wan heard that Zhu Hengjia had suffered a defeat, and worried about her father's safety, she rushed to Qianjiang.

Zhu Hengjia thought Huang Wan cared about him and was very touched.

"Wan'er's hands are as soft as boneless, so beautiful!"

"With the war imminent, aren't the supervisors worried at all? They are still in the mood to tease my concubines."

"Haha, Wan'er doesn't know something. This is the demeanor of a general. When talking and laughing, the oars and oars are turned into ashes."

"Oh, could it be that the Supervisor has come up with a clever plan to defeat the enemy?"

"No. I only have a warship in hand. If I can't defeat you, just take the boat and run away."

Huang Wan??
