Chapter 51: Wukong, if someone gives you a hat, don’t wear it
Do you think this evil spirit was arranged by Bodhisattva?
Xuanzang of Tang Dynasty had great respect for Guanyin Bodhisattva.
When I was giving lectures at Huasheng Temple, although Li Ke’s classic Taoist sayings often came to my mind,
But when Xuanzang heard the Bodhisattva say that there is a Tripitaka of Mahayana teachings in the West,
Those who have transcended the dead can ascend to heaven, and can save people from suffering. They can also cultivate their bodies for infinite life, and even achieve the goal of no return and no departure.
Xuanzang was happy, and then Avalokitesvara appeared. Xuanzang thanked the Bodhisattva for showing the way and showing the world the way to escape from the sea of suffering.
So Xuanzang respected Bodhisattva very much.
If Li Ke hadn’t debated Buddhism with Xuanzang in advance, the roots of Taoism would have been planted in Xuanzang’s heart.
Otherwise, Xuanzang would have blind faith in Bodhisattvas and Buddhism.
After all, Xuanzang had been in the monastery since he was a child, and it was deeply ingrained. Although the memory of his previous life had not been awakened, it was unrealistic to completely shake Xuanzang by just relying on that debate.
At that time, Li Ke had only one idea, which was to prevent Xuanzang from rejecting the Chinese Taoism.
Slowly mold Xuanzang into a Buddhist and Taoist figure, freeing Xuanzang from the possibility of completely becoming a Buddhist.
In short, it is to make Xuanzang a link between Buddha and Tao.
As for Sun Wukong, he was deliberately made to become an undercover agent of the Taoist sect in the Buddhist sect.
Now Tang Xuanzang and Sun Wukong met for the first time, but it was not a scene arranged by Buddhism
I heard that Sun Wukong said that he was enlightened by the Bodhisattva and wanted to be his disciple to protect him and go to the West to learn the scriptures.
Only then did Tang Xuanzang's fear dissipate.
Silently reciting a sentence of Namo Amitabha in my heart, "Since I have been enlightened by the Bodhisattva, I am willing to enter the Samana. I am gratified and congratulated for my kindness..."
Seeing that Xuanzang of the Tang Dynasty still had something to say to Sun Wukong, he said, "If we have something to say, we can go in first and move to the tea room to talk slowly."
In the tea room, the aroma of tea was flying, and Li Ke, Chen Xuanzang, and Sun Wukong sat down.
When talking about the topic of seeking Buddhist scriptures from the West, Li Ke said, "Going to the West to retrieve scriptures will have many hardships along the way.
If you are in trouble, remember that Wuji Academy will be there to help you.
Although Master Xuanzang has a Buddha's heart, he still has human eyes. Sometimes he needs to listen more to what Sun Dasheng has to say..."
Tang Xuanzang nodded in thanks and looked at Sun Wukong again.
After entering the teahouse, Sun Wukong and Tang Xuanzang each introduced themselves.
Sun Wukong’s ears can listen to the sounds of the three realms, and he knows a lot about Tang Xuanzang. His self-introduction is just a supplement.
Tang Xuanzang knew very little about Wukong. After Sun Wukong introduced himself, he was shocked and subverted his three views.
"Wukong, the name of this Dharma is good. How about I give you a mixed name as my master and call it Walker?" Tang Xuanzang still gave Sun Wukong a name.
It seems that the journey to the West has changed but not changed.
Sun Wukong thanked him, "Thank you so much, Master, as long as you like it."
Li Ke said to Sun Wukong, "The road to the west is steep and the road is long.
As the saying goes, a strong dragon will not overwhelm a local snake,
I hope the great sage will think twice before taking this trip, and just remember the original intention of your trip, and don’t use too much force..."
Li Ke spoke very implicitly, and there was something in his words. Sun Wukong could tell that Li Ke had something to say.
So after the three of them had the late meal, Tang Xuanzang rested, leaving only Li Ke and Sun Wukong.
Sun Wukong said with a smile in his eyes, "Brother, it's okay to say it directly."
Li Ke said, "The Great Sage is on his way here. If someone gives you a hat soon, don't wear it.
No matter how beautiful a hat is, it’s not as good as freedom.”
Sun Wukong was stunned. He has magical powers and can see through the illusion of certain things.
Hearing what Li Ke said, I knew it was Li Ke's good intentions, so I kept it in my mind, "Thank you, brother, for reminding me. Old Sun is used to traveling freely in the world, so naturally he doesn't want to be restricted by a hat."
Li Ke is still worried. What Sun Wukong advocates is freedom and equality, otherwise he would not rebel against Tiangong.
Tathagata is worried about Sun Wukong who refuses to be disciplined.
Avalokitesvara knows the meaning of Tathagata, and this is the reason behind the design.
Li Ke tried to change Brother Monkey's fate, "The Taoist heart of a great sage is rare.
If you wear a hoop on the way to seek Buddhist scriptures, your body and mind will be restricted.
I am deeply afraid that the heart of the Great Sage will be imprisoned."
"Brother, Lao Sun also knows that the Tathagata and Bodhisattva instigated this sutra-seeking business.
Tathagata will not rest assured that my old grandson is coming out of the mountain. I guess he will have a back-up plan.
What exactly is the hoop that Big Brother is talking about?"
Li Ke only had one thought in his mind, which was to completely win over Sun Wukong to enter Wuji Academy.
Then he had to be honest, so he chose to put the golden fingers he had brought in his previous life to good use in this world.
With Sun Wukong, the god of war, it will be much less difficult for Li Ke to realize his dream in the future.
"This hoop is called a tight hoop. It is used by the Tathagata to discipline the great sage for not obeying his orders.
Wear this treasure on your head to see the flesh taking root, and then recite the Tightening Mantra.
It can make the great sage's eyes swell, he has a headache, and his forehead is cracked..." Li Ke revealed what he knew.
Hearing this, Sun Wukong was furious, "This old bald man...
How could he be so vicious when he meditates and chants sutras all day long?"
