Chapter 159 Meet Bai Shiweng again

As for the freehand painting of flowers and birds, as the name suggests, it mainly highlights an artistic conception.

At first glance, you may only be able to tell that this is a bird, but what kind of bird is it? Is it a thrush? Is it a magpie? Or a gray goose? People who view the painting sometimes really have to take a few good looks to see it.

Freehand painting began in the Yuan Dynasty. The four masters of the Yuan Dynasty, Huang Gongwang, Wu Zhen, Wang Meng and Ni Zan, either retired to Linquan or lived in seclusion in the city. They abandoned the realistic style of the Southern Song Dynasty in their paintings and focused on the charm and elegance.

Interesting, sometimes we are not so particular about resemblance.

Especially Ni Zan, he directly said, "I write carelessly, not seeking resemblance in appearance, just to amuse myself."

Wu Zhen also often wrote "plays" and "ink plays" in his calligraphy and paintings, which means that the paintings are for his own play, and he can do whatever he likes.

Of course, this does not mean that they cannot paint. For example, Dong Qichang praised Wang Meng, "His paintings are all imitations of the high-quality works of the Tang and Song Dynasties. They are as capable as Dong, Ju, Fan, and Wang Wei. In terms of sculptural work, Yuan Ji should be the first."

The main thing is that after I mastered the things of the ancients, I had to have something of my own.

Strictly speaking, freehand flower-and-bird painting began with Wang Mian in the late Yuan and early Ming dynasties, while splash-ink freehand painting emerged in the mid-Ming dynasty with Chen Chun and Xu Wei.

There is another intermediary between Wang Mian and Chen Chun and Xu Wei who can be said to be the link between the past and the future, namely Shen Zhou and Shen Qinan.

Shen Zhou was a master of both flowers and birds, as well as landscapes, and his paintings were all superb. His flower and bird paintings had a great influence on the later famous freehand brushwork painters Chen Chun and Xu Wei.

It can be said that without Shen Zhou, there would be no freehand brushwork by Chen Chun and Xu Wei in the Ming Dynasty.

Since Chen Chun and Xu Wei, freehand flowers and birds have become completely popular.

Shi Tao, one of the four monks in the Qing Dynasty, Yun Shouping, one of the six masters of the Qing Dynasty, Zhu Da from Bada Mountain, Wu Changshuo, Qi Baishi and Pan Tianshou in modern times are all famous among the famous freehand flower and bird paintings.

There is a poem by the old man Baishi, "Ivy Snow is a far-off mortal body, and the old age of the Fu is unique. I would like Jiuquan to be a lackey, and the three families will turn around."

Here, Qingteng refers to Xu Wei, the founder of the Qingteng School of Painting, Xuege refers to Zhu Da, a native of Bada Mountain, and Fu Lao refers to Wu Changshuo. This is Baishi's respect for the three masters.

Nowadays, many freehand paintings that frequently fetch hundreds of millions of dollars at auction are freehand paintings. For example, some of the works sold by Mr. Baishi for astronomical prices are mostly large freehand paintings of flowers and birds, with a total price of more than 2 billion yuan.

……

"Since it's a choice between two, don't rush to judge the authenticity of a painting first, and then look at this one." Seeing Shen Yu was silent for a long time, Li Hanlin placed the second one on another red sandalwood table.

The painting unfolds.

Shen Yu smiled and walked over.

This is a scroll, ink on paper, about 80 cm in length and 40 cm in width.

The card face of this painting is far inferior to the previous one, and there are only a pitiful number of identification seals, all of which are little-known.

There were obvious traces of being burned by fire in one corner of the painting. Shen Yu looked at it with a magnifying glass and found that it was not deliberately old, but that it had really been burned.

But this is a normal thing. An ancient painting has been passed down for hundreds of thousands of years, and you don’t know how many hardships it has to go through.

In ancient times, wars inevitably caused people to be displaced. Many people couldn't take care of themselves, so how could they take care of these external things?

Therefore, in ancient times, many famous paintings and posters were destroyed in wars, which made people sigh with regret.

In ancient times, even during the Taiping years, the preservation of paintings and calligraphy was a difficult problem, because some famous paintings and calligraphy were often collected by wealthy collectors. It was not a good thing to have all the good things in the hands of one person. If you were not careful, a fire would occur. Famous paintings and famous posts in the house are the consequences of "destruction of the group",

This painting probably went through a fire, but was lucky enough to be rescued, so it is the wisest choice to collect it separately after you have more calligraphy and painting.

The content of the painting is a real freehand splash-ink painting of flowers and birds. A listless crow stands alone on a dead tree whose true appearance cannot be seen clearly. The crow rolls its eyes, not knowing whether it is cold or hungry.

The brushwork is very simple, with only a few hundred strokes forming a painting.

This painting was probably painted by the author when he was drunk. Even Shen Yu could not comment on it. If we think about the good aspects of the painting, it is not bad. The painting style is wanton and wild, quite like the style of Ivy Baiyang.

Especially the way the crow rolls its eyes is full of fun, its small eyes are full of disdain, and it feels a bit like Angry Birds. It would also be a good idea to make it into an emoticon package.

If we think about the bad aspects of the painting, the whole painting is pitch black. What kind of junk is this painting?

This painting has a title, "Jackdaw with Withered Vine".

The signature is: Chenghua Geng Yinqiu, Shen Zhouzuo.

There are two sentences in a five-character poem: "The frost-tall people lean on the railing, and the jackdaws accompany the withered vines."

There are three seals at the bottom: "Qinan" seal with red characters, "Shitian" seal with white characters, and "Bai Shiweng" seal with Zhu characters.

Shen Yu mainly looked at the red seal of Bai Shiweng, and then silently recited a treasure appraisal, and a light blue light the size of a broad bean emerged on the painting.

"You are the fake!"

To be on the safe side, Shen Yu went back to the painting "Nine Birds and Apricot Blossoms" just now. Of course, Shen Yu came up with the name of the painting himself. Anyway, according to the rules of the antique shop, whoever takes it first gets it.

After silently reciting the treasure appraisal, a dark blue walnut-sized treasure light condensed from three inches above the drawing paper. Sure enough, this painting is the real one.

Shen Yu took a long breath and stood up slowly. At the same time, he asked himself secretly, "Mr. Dong, as the owner of Wanbao Building, can't keep his word. The market price of this Shen Zhou authentic painting should be between seven million and one million." Ten million dollars.

"You don't have to pay a penny to exchange the original work of Dong Bangda for an original work of Shen Zhou. Is this the legendary pie in the sky?"

"Xiao Shen, I can tell from your look which picture is real and which picture is fake?" Dong Pengcheng asked Shen Yu with a smile.

Shen Yu hesitated for a moment, then nodded: "Yes, Mr. Dong, if one of these two paintings is a fake, it is this "Jackdaw with Withered Vine"."

A trace of surprise flashed across Dong Pengcheng's slightly withered eyes, and he asked in a slightly surprised tone: "Oh, I wonder how you saw it, Xiao Shen, or where is the fake in this painting?"

Shen Yu thought to himself, "I knew you would ask where the fake painting is. If you don't tell me, you won't be able to cope with it. Fortunately, my basic skills are solid enough."

Now is not the time to be polite. Shen Yu calmly analyzed: "This painting uses wild brushwork and is completely informal. It is a real freehand painting of flowers and birds. The eyes of the crow in the painting are full of fierceness, as if the person who painted the painting has a resentment in his heart." Expression, this alone cannot be written by Shen Zhou."

"Tell me what you think." After tasting what Shen Yu just said, Dong Pengcheng asked Shen Yu to continue.

Shen Yu continued to speak without hesitation: "Shen Zhou was a generous and generous man. A stranger once came to the door with a copy of his painting and asked the master of painting to write an inscription so that he could show it off.

"Shen Zhou took a look at it and said, well, the painting is pretty good. Why should I inscribe it at this level? I'll just give you a stamp. Then I picked up my own seal and stamped it. The imitation painting instantly became 'Shen Zhou's original work.' '.

"There are also scholars, whose families are too poor to raise the pot, or whose mother is seriously ill, or who have to take exams without paying the bills. When they heard that Shen Zhou's paintings were valuable, they painted a painting themselves and asked Shen Zhou to inscribe it so that they could sell it for money. Shen Zhou looked at it and felt the same. I gladly agreed with my inscription and seal.

"This is not nonsense, but has a source. Wang Ao, a lifelong friend of Shen and Zhou Dynasty, a famous official in the Ming Dynasty, the chief minister of the cabinet, a great writer, and known as 'the best article in the country and the unparalleled prime minister in the mountains' once said: Mr. Gao Zhi Jueren, and people who are familiar with things, are happy to respond to those who make fake questions for sale.

"Furthermore, Shen Zhou's flower-and-bird paintings emphasize simplicity, elegance, and elegance. His paintings have an otherworldly temperament. We don't see the otherworldliness in this painting, but we see cynicism. If you say it's a Bada Shanren, I believe it." , I definitely don’t believe it’s Shen Zhou!”

Dong Pengcheng smiled and said, "Don't just talk about these invisible and intangible things. You think it is like this, but it doesn't look like this to me.

"The brush and ink of this painting are smooth and smooth, without any sloppiness, and the seal is also Shen Zhou's. I think it is undoubtedly an authentic work."

Shen Yu also smiled, as if you should never fool me again, "The focus of this painting is the white seal of this white stone."

"Is there something wrong with this seal? It looks good to me. You must know that Bai Shiweng is Shen Zhouwan!" Dong Pengcheng didn't have any emotion on his face. He stared at Shen Yu and asked calmly, as if this seal was really real. No problem.

Shen Yu tapped the seal on the painting upside down with a brush, "This seal is very problematic. Let's first talk about the origin of Shen Zhou's 'White Stone Weng' seal. It's actually quite interesting.

"According to ancient records, Shen Zhou lived a reclusive life and never became an official, but he made friends all over the world. He was very hospitable and his family was rich. Although he was not a rich man, he had a lot of property. He often met friends with wine and literature.

"Once Huang Yun, a poet of the Ming Dynasty and a famous calligrapher, visited a certain courtyard in Shenzhou. It happened that a Taoist priest asked for a calligraphy and painting from Shenzhou. Because Huang Yun was excellent in poetry and calligraphy, the Taoist asked Huang Yun to write an inscription on the painting. A poem makes the painting more famous.

"Huang Yun was also cheerful. He took up his pen and wrote, 'How can I store a thousand acres in my chest? When I come out of the dust, I have an immortal style; my sparse beard and short temples are all turned into snow, and I am called the White Stone Man.'

"Shen Zhou was an open-minded man. When he saw this, he smiled at the two of them and said, 'I am exactly sixty years old, so from now on I will be called the White Stone Man.'

"Shen Zhou was very neat in doing things, and he did what he said. He invited Jin Cong, who was also a famous calligrapher and painter, to carve this 'White Stone Weng' seal for him. Because Shen Zhou lived a long life, this seal can often be seen in Shen Zhou's works in his later years." Bai Shiweng's seal.

"This white stone seal was carved in about the 20th year of Chenghua, that is, the Jiachen year of 1484 AD. Therefore, it is normal for this seal to appear in Shen Zhou's works after 20 years of Chenghua. It is absolutely impossible to appear. On Shen Zhou’s previous works.

"You see, the title of this painting is Chenghua Gengyin. This refers to the sixth year of Chenghua, which is 1470. At this time, Shen Zhou's seal had not yet been engraved. How could it be printed on the painting?

"This is completely inconsistent with the rules of authentic seals, so this so-called "Jackdaw Picture with Withered Vine" is 100% fake!"
