Anyone who is familiar with ancient calligraphy and painting knows that there are many famous paintings with the word "Temple" in ancient landscape paintings.
It's an exaggeration to say it's a vast sea, but it's really hard to count.
But there is one thing, most of them are pictures of Xiao Si.
It is the "so-and-so" picture of Xiaosi. For example, among the three great masters of the Northern Song Dynasty, Li Chengyou's "Picture of Xiaosi in Qingluan" has been handed down to the world.
Fan Kuan's "Picture of Xiao Temple in the Snow Mountain" has been handed down to the world.
There is no clear information about Dong Yuan, the founder of the Nanzong Landscape School, who is also one of the three great masters. This is because Dong Yuan was not very famous when he was alive, and was far from the lofty status in the history of painting after his death.
Dong Yuan became a huge fan only after his death, so there is not much information about Dong Yuan.
But his most proud disciple, Ju Ran, has two famous paintings that have never been handed down: "Songyan Xiaosi Picture" and "Shanyin Xiaosi Picture". It can be seen that Dong Yuan should have also painted Xiaosi Picture.
There are really countless famous artists who have painted Xiao Si.
Jing Guan Dong Ju (Jing Hao, Guan Tong, Dong Yuan, Ju Ran)
Four Southern Song Dynasty Masters (Li Tang, Liu Songnian, Ma Yuan, Xia Gui)
The Four Families of the Yuan Dynasty (Huang Gongwang, Wang Meng, Ni Zan, Wu Zhen)
The Four Families of the Ming Dynasty (Shen Zhou, Wen Zhengming, Tang Yin, Qiu Ying)
The Four Kings of the Early Qing Dynasty (Wang Shimin, Wang Jian, Wang Yuanqi, Wang Hui)
It can be said that as long as they are painting landscapes, they will always have one or two works of Xiaosi pictures in autumn mountains, snow mountains, or cold mountains. It is unknown whether they have been passed down to the world.
There is only one word difference between the picture of the ancient temple and the picture of Xiaosi, but they are far inferior.
As for why the temples in calligraphy and paintings are often called Xiao Temple, there is a theory.
There are four hundred and eighty temples in the Southern Dynasty, and many towers are in the mist.
Emperor Wu of Liang, Xiao Yan, built a large Buddhist temple and asked Xiao Ziyun, one of the "Three Xiaos", the grandson of Emperor Xiao Daocheng of Qi and the most famous calligrapher at that time, to write the word "Xiao Temple" in white.
It means "the temple of the Xiao family".
Later generations called the Buddhist temple Xiao Temple.
Shen Yu thinks this statement is possible, but it is also worthy of scrutiny.
Shen Yu felt that the "temple" in the ancient paintings should not be completely understood as a temple, but should be understood as a temple, that is, a Taoist temple. After all, the royal families of the Song and Ming dynasties respected Taoism.
Moreover, the names of many ancient paintings were given by later generations. You can’t tell whether they are Taoist temples or temples just from the buildings in the paintings.
Looking at it now, most of the pictures of ancient temples show spring and summer scenes.
Most of the pictures in Xiaosi are autumn and winter scenes.
Among them, autumn scenery is the most common, followed by winter scenery. Most of them are paired with cold forests, dead rocks, and winter snow, giving people a bleak, empty, and quiet feeling.
It is consistent with Buddhism and Taoism, a quiet place away from the world.
There are more pictures of Xiao Temple, and the pictures of ancient temples become more precious.
However, this painting actually displays three colors of precious light at the same time. This is strange. Is it splicing?
Picking up the high-power magnifying glass at hand, Shen Yu began to look at the painting carefully.
About ten minutes later, Shen Yu stood up straight and gently took off his gloves.
On the surface, he was extremely calm, but in his heart he felt more and more that his grandfather was really good to him.
If he hadn't taken the trouble to teach me the knowledge of calligraphy and painting appraisal every day, I really wouldn't have been able to tell where this painting was fake.
Looking into Fan Shigui's small eyes, Shen Yu said calmly: "Boss Fan, your painting "Ancient Temple in the Deep Mountains" has a gorgeous and elegant picture, detailed characterization, and clear landscape layout.
“And it’s well framed.
"The double poles of heaven and earth are wrapped in dark blue floral damask, and the wide edges are decorated with beige damask circles.
"There is a 'Poem Hall' on the top of the painting, which is a typical Ming Dynasty vertical scroll mounting technique.
"If this is the first time I see it, I'm afraid many people will praise it. This is a good painting."
At this point, Shen Yu suddenly changed the topic, "But..."
Shen Yu was about to continue talking when his throat suddenly felt dry and itchy, as if a few ants were swimming around and tearing him apart. He quickly picked up the Qinglianggu brand purified water under the table, unscrewed the lid and drank it. .< /p>
Fan Shigui didn't notice the change in Shen Yu's way of speaking at all. When he heard Shen Yu's comments, his eyes suddenly turned into slits with laughter.
He stopped shaking his folding fan and paced back and forth in front of the stall, saying that he had good taste. He didn't even notice that the sunglasses hanging upside down behind his ears almost fell to the ground.
Putting down the water bottle in his hand, Shen Yu cleared his throat and quickly pointed to the magnifying glass on the wooden table and said loudly: "It's a pity that I used this mirror to magnify and see that this painting is a fake!"
"What? Fake?"
Shen Yu's words caused the joy on Fan Shigui's face to disappear. His mouth moved a few times but he didn't say a word.
After half a minute, he scratched his bald forehead out of habit and stammered a question, "Are you...are you sure you read that correctly?"
"Well! Although this painting is good, it is not an authentic work by Tang Yin." Shen Yu nodded the bridge of his nose habitually, remembering that his eyesight had recovered and no longer needed to wear glasses, and immediately shook his head with a smile.
Shen Yu's remarks were not intentional, but antique appraisal requires one to praise first and then criticize.
Even if Mr. Palm Eyes can tell at a glance that the antique is fake, he can't tell it right away.
Be sure to talk about the good aspects of the antique first, and then tell the specific flaws.
This is a rule handed down from ancient times, and there is a reason for it.
The first customer who comes to a stall or antique shop to identify the authenticity, no matter how new, fake or broken the object in his hand is, he must think that his treasure is real in his heart.
If the customer had known that the item was fake, he would not have wasted time and money on it.
So, if you take a quick look at this comment, you will find that the paper quality is poor, the smell of ink is pungent, and the painting work is extremely poor. Not to mention making money, it is good if you don’t get beaten up!
And Shen Yu didn't say he was not sure.
Or the painting doesn’t seem old enough, etc., which are more euphemistic words in the antique industry.
These kind of words are given to others for free. Since they pay you for an appraisal, they must have something to say.
"No, this picture of an ancient temple in the mountains is a treasure passed down from my family.
"I think my Fan family was considered a prominent family in Chuzhou in ancient times. Not only did it produce censors in the Qianlong Dynasty, but it also produced officials in the Ministry of Civil Affairs and Heavenly Officials in the Jiaqing Dynasty.
"How can the paintings collected by my ancestors be fake? Impossible, absolutely impossible!" Fan Shigui shook his head like a rattle.

Shen Yu sat quietly on the chair and did not answer the call.
Every time an antique is identified as fake, the customer will definitely complain for a while.
What I have to do now is not to argue with him immediately, but to listen and let the customer vent his anger first, and then use his rich appraisal knowledge to slowly accept the facts.
Money is not easy to earn!
Seeing that Shen Yu didn't speak, Fan Shigui asked again: "Didn't you just say that this painting is quite good? It has good character depiction, good landscape layout, and good mounting. If it's not by Tang Yin, is it a copy of it by some famous person in ancient times? ?"
Having said this, Fan Shigui's little eyes lit up again. Even if it is not a genuine product, if it is a copy of a famous person, it is still very valuable.
Shen Yu was well prepared and immediately explained patiently: "This painting is a bit strange. It is not a painting that an ancient person simply imitated from Tang Yin's painting, but a painting that is similar to Tang Yin's painting style.
"To put it simply, this painting is spliced together!"
"Isn't that right? I know that some porcelains are forged and spliced, as well as ancient paintings?" Fan Shigui asked in a low voice while wiping the sweat on his forehead with the sleeves of his silk shirt.
It's no wonder he was so excited. The price of Tang Yin's original works on the market can easily reach seven figures, while the fakes are not worth a penny, but are greatly discounted. It is difficult to even sell them for half a discount.
Shen Yu handed Fan Shigui a bottle of pure water and sighed: "That's right! It's just that for a counterfeiter, the time wasted in splicing an ancient painting together requires far more skills than tracing or copying an ancient painting. It’s much more complicated, it’s such a thankless thing, I don’t know why they do it!”
Fan Shigui took it and put it on the wooden table. He looked anxious: "Then can you date my painting? Is it from the Ming Dynasty, the Qing Dynasty, or modern times?"
Shen Yu thought for a few seconds before saying: "Based on the three aspects of ink, paper, and mounting, this painting should be a landscape painting of figures in the Ming Dynasty, and the painting was even earlier than Tang Yin.< /p>
"It's just that later on, the painting may have been eaten by insects due to improper storage, or it may have become moldy due to moisture and was broken. In the end, only the scholar in the pavilion remained, which means it became a broken painting.
"The counterfeiter used it as the centerpiece and reframed it. Perhaps it was because the original author was not as well-known as Tang Yin, so he appropriated Tang Yin's name."
In fact, this is also Shen Yu's speculation.
Because the dark blue light appears in this area, it can only be said that this is the main body of the remaining painting.
It’s impossible for a forger of calligraphy and painting to use Ming Dynasty paintings to repair Qing Dynasty paintings, right?
Counterfeiters would not do this even if their brains went crazy.
