283 [Broken Chapter]

January 8, 1929.

Yan Xishan, Feng Yuxiang, Li Zongren and other major military leaders left Nanjing full of resentment.

Before leaving, Li Zongren and Feng Yuxiang had many secret talks. Both believed that Chang Kaishen wanted to play dictatorship and they were prepared to refuse to implement the disarmament plan. If Chang Kaishen wanted to use force, then they should support each other and never give in.

.

Afterwards, Li Zongren hurriedly returned to Wuhan and asked Bai Chongxi to transfer all the troops stationed near Peiping and Tangshan back to Wuhan to prepare for the war.

Chang Kaishen noticed the movements of the Gui army and also assembled large armies on the borders of Hubei and Anhui. The war between Jiang and Gui was imminent.

Feng Yongcai didn't care about that and repaired the plane on his own. No matter how Nanjing disarmed, it had nothing to do with the affairs of the three Northeastern provinces. The Japanese were watching over there, and it was impossible for the Northeast Army to disarm as planned.

Feng Yong made an emergency landing on the outskirts of Shanghai. After repairing the plane, he invited dozens of local farmers.

First, they simply built the runway and paved the road with gravel and sand. Then Feng Yong got into the cockpit and shouted to Zhou Hexuan who was watching the excitement: "Mingcheng, come up quickly!"

"Is that enough?" Zhou Hexuan looked at the simple runway stupidly. Not to mention whether it was flat or not, it was not long enough either. It was only about a hundred meters at most.

Feng Yong smiled and said: "No problem, come up!"

Zhou Hexuan climbed up cautiously, put on his flying hat and said, "Fifth brother, I leave my little life to you, you can do whatever you want."

"Haha, we're ready to take off," Feng Yong turned to the farmers behind and shouted, "Hold on hard, don't let me go until I tell you to let me go!"

Several farmers grabbed the rope, and the other end of the rope was tied to the tail of the aircraft.

Feng Yong immediately started the plane and dragged the farmers forward for several meters. When the engine reached the predetermined number of revolutions, he heard him yell: "Let go!"

Phew~

The plane moved forward like a catapult. It only traveled about 80 meters on the simple runway, then quickly took off from the ground, grazing the hill in front of it and rising into the sky.

"What a fool!"

Zhou Hexuan wiped the sweat from his forehead and said in shock: "You are playing with your life!"

"Don't worry, I'm sure," Feng Yong said confidently, "The plane last time was smaller, and it only took a 50-meter approach before flying into the sky. This 12-meter runway is more than enough."

"You are amazing." Zhou Hexuan said speechlessly, vowing never to fly on a plane flown by Feng Yong again.

Feng Yong quickly flew the plane over the city, flying around in circles. The rumble of the engine attracted many Shanghai citizens to stop and watch.

Not long after, another plane flew from below. Feng Yong immediately flew towards the other person, waving to him and shouting: "Hi, good afternoon!"

It's a pity that I couldn't hear you, so my greeting was in vain.

Like Feng Yong, the plane opposite was also hovering over the city, but they were not playing, but throwing things into the city.

Hundreds of small parachutes, like dandelion seeds, are floating everywhere in the sky, and they look really beautiful.

"What the hell is this?" Feng Yong asked in surprise.

Zhou Hexuan thought for a while and said: "Maybe it's a flyer."

"Get one and take a look." After Feng Yong said that, he flew the plane and swooped down.

The sides of the plane were not closed, so Zhou Hexuan took a quick look and found a small fluttering parachute with printed paper under the umbrella.

Zhou Hexuan opened the printed matter, and the content on it made him speechless for a moment.

"What did you write?" Feng Yong asked.

"Advertisement," Zhou Hexuan said with black lines on his forehead, "Tang Tuo's advertisement for selling words."

We say that Mr. Yuan was very unique when he published calligraphy for sale in newspapers, but Tang Tuo was even more awesome and actually used an airplane to sell calligraphy advertisements.

Who is Tang Tuo?

As mentioned in the previous chapter of this book, I wrote 30,000 couplets in six years. It was not enough to hire two assistants to polish the ink, so I was the one who polished the ink myself.

Feng Yong laughed after hearing this: "Haha, that's interesting. It's the first time I've seen someone using an airplane to sell advertisements. I have to go and pay him a visit."

Zhou Hexuan could only say: There were so many lunatics in the Republic of China.

Since the plane did not have enough fuel, Feng Yong only lingered for a few minutes before landing at Hongqiao Airport, and then the two of them took a car back to their house on Haige Road.

After resting that night, Feng Yong flew to Peking and then flew to Fengtian to return to Zhang Xueliang.

Toynbee, who stayed in Shanghai for several days, also came to say goodbye with his female secretary. He was going to Nanjing to visit Chang Kaishen, and then to Hubei and Shanxi to inspect China's culture and political situation.

Toynbee asked: "Is Mr. Zhou interested in teaching at the University of London?"

"It's too far." Zhou Hexuan refused directly.

Toynbee extended the invitation: "If there is an opportunity, I hope Mr. Zhou can go to the UK for academic exchange. Scholars there will definitely be very interested."

"Let's talk about it later," Zhou Hexuan took out a stack of manuscripts and said, "This is my article. It has been translated into English. Mr. Toynbee, you can take it back to England for me."

"It's an honor." Toynbee smiled.

Those were the manuscripts of "Historical Research", but when Zhou Hexuan gave the lecture, he changed it to "History of Human Civilization". The content was almost the same as when he lectured, but there were some modifications, which were finalized after discussions between him and Toynbee.

The two have agreed that for this series of academic papers, those with different views will be signed individually, and those with the same views will be signed jointly.

After Toynbee left, Shen Congwen also took up his post and was invited by Hu Shi to become a teacher in a Chinese public school.

As a result, Shen Congwen made a big joke on the first day of class. He stood on the podium and looked at the students below without saying a word for a long time. His mind went blank, and his face and neck were red from holding back.

The students were a little confused and didn't know what the new teacher wanted to do.

Just listen to Shen Congwen say: "Give me five minutes!"

Well, Writer Shen's head is down, and he couldn't find the answer in his first lecture.

China Public School is located in Shanghai. When everyone went out to party on weekends, Shen Congwen naturally became the target of ridicule.

Shen Congwen looked very embarrassed. Hu Shi comforted him and said, "It's okay. It will get better slowly. Something will inevitably go wrong the first time."

"Let's talk about literature." Shen Congwen said, hiding his face.

Xu Zhimo asked Zhou Hexuan: "Mingcheng still hasn't written any new poems?"

Zhou Hexuan thought about it and said: "There is one."

Xu Zhimo found a pen and paper and couldn't wait to say: "Write it down quickly and take a look."

The poem Zhou Hexuan copied this time is very short.

"Broken Chapter"

You stand on the bridge and look at the scenery,

People watching the scenery are watching you upstairs.

The bright moon decorates your windows,

You decorate other people's dreams.

Xu Zhimo chewed the meaning over and over again and praised loudly: "What a poem! So spiritual! Endless aftertaste!"

"A bit Zen-like." Hu Shi said with a smile.

Shen Congwen experienced the artistic conception carefully, and a smile appeared on his face, as if he was reminded of his past events in western Hunan.

Just when "Crescent Moon" published this poem, Zhou Hexuan's works were finally published in France, and several of them were published.
