531 [On the Songhua River]

Peking, train station.

The Great Wall War is in full swing, the Japanese army has occupied Chengde, and the gate of Shanhaiguan is tightly closed.

Wave after wave of exiles are coming towards Peiping. Many of these people are from Jehol, and many are from Liaoning, and even further away, Jilin and Heilongjiang. They do not want to survive under the iron heel of the Japanese invaders.

They fled eastward step by step, and finally gathered outside Peiping City.

"Dong dong dong dong!"

The sound of gongs and drums suddenly sounded, and a middle-aged man held up a tin trumpet and shouted: "Compatriots in the Northeast, fellow villagers, we are the people of the Northeast who resist Japan and save the country. If you have any difficulties, you can come to us for help. I represent the 40,000 people across the country.

Ten thousand compatriots, I guarantee that you will have food to eat, water to drink, and clothing to wear..."

Behind the middle-aged man, there are countless old clothes piled up, as well as several large pots cooking porridge. These clothes are donations. The original owners came from all over the country and were donated by the "Northeast People's Anti-Japanese Salvation Association"

of.

"Everyone, line up. Let's have a bowl of hot porridge first. As for finding a place to live and find a job, we will try our best to help. Everyone, line up..." Volunteers from the National Salvation Association shouted loudly to maintain order.

The money, food and materials used to relieve the exiled people in the Northeast are very sufficient. When Zhang Xueliang left office, he donated 100,000 yuan, and Yu Fengzhi also donated 30,000 yuan. There are also donations from the private sector, such as the Anti-Japanese Salvation Association

Countless donations of materials are received every day.

Some of these money and supplies were quietly transported to the Northeast to support the civilian anti-Japanese armed forces there. Most of the rest was used to resettle the exiled people in the Northeast and even established a number of Northeastern exile schools.

21-year-old Duanmu Hongliang held leaflets with his classmates and distributed them when he saw young exiles: "We are members of the Northeast Exile Students Anti-Japanese Salvation Association, and young people are welcome to join. Chinese people must unite and resist Japan."

, drive the little Japanese devil back to his hometown!"

Today, the total number of Northeastern students stranded in Peiping, as well as the exiled Northeastern students who have fled, exceeds 10,000, and the number is still increasing.

These students must be properly accommodated, and there is competition from all sides.

Northeastern University and Feng Yong University were reestablished in Beiping, and Northeastern Jiaotong University was collectively merged into Northeastern University. Later, Zhang Xueliang opened Northeastern College and Northeastern Refugee Children Middle School. This is the work of the Fengcheng Department.

The Kuomintang established Xingzhi Middle School, Nianyi Middle School and National Sun Yat-sen Middle School in Peiping, absorbing a large number of exiled students.

As for the Communist Party, its work went even deeper, actively cooperating with the Northeastern People's Anti-Japanese Salvation Association, and openly forming the Northeastern Exile Students Anti-Japanese Salvation Association, in an attempt to gain leadership of the Northeastern exile student group.

Although Duanmu Hongliang is only 21 years old and just admitted to Tsinghua University last year, he is already a formal member of the Northern Left Federation. In the past six months, he has used his spare time to publicize the party's ideas everywhere and has attracted more than a dozen Northeastern students.

The left couplet moves closer.

"Classmate, I hear your accent is from Liaoning?" asked an exiled student.

Duanmu Hongliang said: "I am Changtu, what about you?"

The student said: "My name is Gao Tianqi from Liaoyang. I heard that Northeastern University has reopened. Where is its address?"

Duanmu Hongliang felt that he had a new business, so he quickly said: "Come with me, I will take you there!"

"That's great, thank you." Gao Tianqi suddenly became happy.

Duanmu Hongliang's companions also summoned several students, and everyone gathered together and walked into the city of Peiping carrying bags and boxes.

"How is the situation in Liaoning?" Duanmu Hongliang asked casually while helping Gao Tianqi carry a baggage.

Gao Tianqi looked frustrated: "It's irritating to say it. The little Japanese devils are everywhere attacking the volunteers, and the puppet soldiers are fighting against the human power. I heard that the fellow villagers in Heilongjiang are even worse. Many compatriots were captured by the little Japanese to build fortifications. I don't know how tired they are every day."

How many people died. After September 18th, I joined the Anti-Japanese Volunteer Army and joined three teams. In the end, they were all broken up by the Japanese devils. Isn’t there nothing I can do? I had to enter the customs and come to Peking to continue my studies.”

"Yes, in today's world, aspiring young people are full of enthusiasm, but they have no way to serve the country." Duanmu Hongliang used to study at Nankai Middle School. He was expelled from the school for actively promoting the anti-Japanese war. He ran away in anger.

After joining the army, he found that the army was also in chaos, so he was discharged and admitted to Tsinghua University.

Duanmu Hongliang kept trying to get Gao Tianqi closer to the party organization.

The two were talking when they suddenly heard singing coming from the radio on the roadside:

“My home is on the Songhua River in Northeast China.

There are forest coal mines there,

And there are soybeans and sorghum all over the mountains and fields.

My home is on the Songhua River in Northeast China,

There are my compatriots,

And the aging parents.

September 18, September 18,

From that tragic time!

September 18, September 18!

From that tragic time,

Leaving my hometown,

Abandon the endless treasure,

Wandering! Wandering!

The price is in the customs all day, wandering!

Which year, which month,

Only then can I return to my lovely hometown?

Which year, which month,

Only then can we recover the endless treasure?

Mom and Dad, Mom and Dad,

when,

So we can get together happily?"

More than a dozen students from the Northeast suddenly stopped and stared blankly at the roadside radio that made the sound.

Duanmu Hongliang's chest seemed to have been cut open by a sharp sword, and the sorrow and anger that had been suppressed for a long time were brought out by the plaintive singing.

Duanmu Hongliang is just a pseudonym. His real surname is Cao. He was born in a rich peasant family in Liaoning. His great-grandfather purchased more than 100 acres of land in Horqin Grassland. His father advocated education and resolutely sold 80 acres of land and sent Duanmu Hongliang and his second brother to Tianjin to study.

.

Now, the second brother has become a university teacher, and Duanmu Hongliang himself is studying at Tsinghua University. However, their hometown in Liaoning has long been in decline. Duanmu Hongliang has not seen his parents for more than three years.

Mom and Dad, Mom and Dad, when can we get together happily?

Duanmu Hongliang suddenly burst into tears because the song sang out his heart and touched the weakest place in his soul.

The eyes of the Northeastern students around him turned red. Too many tragic experiences resonated with the singing at this moment, and hearing it made people's hearts feel like knives.

Many passers-by also stopped to listen and felt the heart-breaking sound in the singing.

"Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu! Mother, you died so miserably! Wuuuuu..."

On the street, a Northeastern man cried loudly, like a helpless child. After crying, he suddenly stood up and shouted: "I want to join the army, I want to fight with little Japan!"

Duanmu Hongliang looked at the Northeastern man, secretly wiped away his tears, patted Gao Tianqi beside him on the shoulder and said: "Brother, sooner or later we will have revenge!"

Gao Tianqi's eyes were sore and he choked up: "Yes, I want to take revenge and go back to the northeast."

The song "On the Songhua River" floated repeatedly in the skies of Tianjin and Peiping, causing countless exiled people in the Northeast to cry bitterly. The song, with its intense pain, soon spread to the north and south of the Yangtze River, awakening the national soul of countless people.

After many inquiries, Duanmu Hongliang finally found out that the songwriter of this song was Zhou Hexuan. With reverence and part of the manuscript of his first novel "Horqin Banner Grassland", he took a train to Tianjin to ask Mr. Zhou for advice.

.

Duanmu Hongliang feels that the most important thing now is not to fight against Japan, but to awaken the people's spirit of resistance. Just like the song "On the Songhua River", just like the novels, songs and literature he is currently creating, sometimes they are better than

Cross swords and guns.
