Act IX The Battle of the Witch

Act 9: The Battle of the Corpse Witch ()

Lower-level corpse witches are good at two spells, Dark Curtain and Corruption. These two spells are black magic with the element of 'evil'.

In the game, black magic was brought to the earth by the Minr people. The Minr people are the servants of the Dusk Dragon. They lived on the tundra plateau north of Cruz during the chaotic era before the beginning of the First Age.

The shamans of the Miner people were good at using necromancy and black magic. Later, these two magics and all offensive spells other than the elements, nature, and sacred factions were collectively called black magic.

After the Holy War, the Fire Lord Geert drove these dark inhabitants to the cold east, and it is said that no one has ever seen them since.

But the Miner people must exist. In the Black Code, the dark lords who were exiled to Madara learned the inheritance of black magic from these demonic people.

However, Dark Curtain is actually called black magic, which is a bit undeserved, because it is an auxiliary concealment spell. This spell can just cover the whereabouts of a small group of skeleton soldiers.

Of course, this is not completely invisible and disappears. You can imagine a blindfold that blends into the dark background. Yes, it does not cover up sounds, smells or any non-visual factors, and it must be limited to a certain distance.

But in the dark night, this spell becomes the best cover for Madala's undead army, which is the main reason why Madala's army often chooses to operate at night.

As for the Corruption Technique, Freya and others had already seen this terrible black magic once before on Qiao Sen.

This is a vicious attack spell, and it is also the corpse witch's main attack method. It relies on negative power to corrode the enemy. When the enemy's negative emotions become more serious and their willpower becomes weaker, the spell damage they receive will be correspondingly greater.

until death.

This spell is similar to most black magic in that it embodies destructive power by amplifying negative power.

Mastering mysterious black magic and commanding skeleton soldiers without the ability to think - they are stronger and cunning and changeable by nature. It seems that the Corpse Witch is an enemy that is difficult to defeat.

But Sophie also knows a secret. Corpse witches themselves do not actually have the ability to cast spells. Their real power comes from the bone staff in their hands, which is a powerful magic item that belongs to each corpse witch. Once it is taken away from the hand, it will

Transform back into an ordinary stick.

Once you understand this, you will understand how the tactics surrounding it should be developed.

As another skeleton soldier fell, and at Sophie's reminder, Freya and Essen, the strongest swordsmen among the militiamen, entangled the corpse witch who was preparing a spell.

"Attack its hand, black magic is not as mysterious as you think," Sophie pointed out the weakness of the undead monster: "Did you see its gestures, prevent it from completing the spell, and seize its bone staff...

…”

The corpse witch suddenly raised his head and looked at Sophie, a ball of phosphorus green fire flashing with a malicious light. Sophie choked, and his throat went dry. He knew that the other party was targeting him - but our protagonist

Calm down immediately, there is no way this walking corpse can bypass the militiamen and attack him.

But being stared at by a lifeless, cold monster was never a comfortable thing, so Sophie had to stop and wait for Freya and Essen's attacks to take effect.

The corpse witch smiled sinisterly and shook the bone staff. The darkness around it swayed like ripples and submerged it. When Essen's long sword pierced like a piece of snow, it only pierced an empty space. The undead monster was originally where

The location becomes empty.

"Huh?" The young man was slightly startled.

Sophie's expression remained unchanged. He was too familiar with these guys' tricks: "Essen, on your left!"

Essen didn't react for a moment.

But Freya, who had caught up from behind, had already slashed at her with her sword. The sword drew a straight silver line in the dim environment, and it was about to reach the position pointed by Sophie, but before that, the corpse witch

Already stumbling backwards.

Everyone saw the shadow receding like running water.

"Human, who are you! You are not some militia!" A sharp voice burst out from the shadows, and the corpse witch looked a little angry.

Indeed, it is impossible for the militia to know so much, and some of what Sophie said was only circulated among wizards even in Madara.

But Sophie remained silent, and Freya's second sword followed closely. Green light flashed in the corpse witch's eyes, and it raised the bone staff to push away the girl's sword. The corpse witch had an energy level of 1.7

The power of Freya is definitely not higher than Brando's power.

The pony-tailed girl's attack was easily deflected to one side. She rushed forward several steps before stopping. She immediately subconsciously covered her left shoulder and frowned slightly.

The previous arrow wound seemed to have opened again——

"Sister, let Makmi do it. Your injury..." Essen saw this scene and couldn't help shouting while parrying the attack of the corpse witch.

Makimi and Little Phoenix caught up from behind.

"Little Phoenix, stay back!" But Freya held her sword horizontally, stopped in front of the little brat, and ordered sternly.

"But I am also a militiaman!" the young man shouted unconvinced.

"Back off, did you hear that-!"

Little Phoenix was so angry that his face turned red and his neck was thick, but even so, he still did not dare to disobey Freya's order. Among these young people, Freya has always been the leader. The girl is kind-hearted and has her own persistence.

In fact, everyone is very convinced of such a captain.

Sophie shook her head from behind. The battlefield was not a place for disputes. However, the ponytail girl's persistence aroused his affection. Such girls were rare in his world.

"You four come together." He said from behind.

"Mr. Brando, you -!" Freya took a breath and couldn't help but look back. The young man lying on the rock - Roman was still standing beside him, looking at this with an innocent face.

At the same time, he winked at himself.

This damn girl surrendered to the enemy so quickly!

She couldn't help feeling depressed.

"The corpse witch is a difficult enemy, and the four of you can just cover each other." Sophie replied seriously.

"But little Phoenix..."

"He is also a militiaman."

Freya bit her lip and looked back. Makmi and Essen had been retreating steadily under the attack of the corpse witch. If the undead monster was given a chance to cast its spell, I'm afraid the team would be reduced again.

That's not something she can afford.

Thinking of this, she could only nod: "Okay."

"Long live! Brando, you're great!" Little Phoenix shouted and immediately unsheathed his sword. But Freya grabbed his collar from behind, pulled it back and solemnly ordered: "Follow me.

, you are not allowed to leave my cover, do you understand——"

"Oh..." a disappointed voice.

The situation reversed immediately after Freya and Little Phoenix joined the battle. She and Essen were originally the best swordsmen among Butcher's militiamen, and what was surprising was that Little Phoenix was not inferior at all——

In Sophie's words, this child has a strong offensive intention, and his sword is decisive and precise - not like Eruin's military swordsmanship that pursues offense and defense, but more like Cruz's aggressive battle formation swordsmanship.

But no matter from which aspect, from the perspective of a senior soldier, this is already an extremely high evaluation.

Sophie thought that maybe when little Phoenix grows to Brando's age, his swordsmanship will not be inferior at all, but of course his spirituality will be slightly worse - because Brando is simply born for fighting.

He sometimes thought, if that young man in history had not died, but had grown up during the war, his final achievements would not be any less brilliant than Freya's.

Unfortunately, things are unpredictable and history has no ifs.

Of course, the most important point in this battle was the reminder from the young man. Sophie seemed to have completely seen through the mind of the corpse witch, and he could point out the slightest intention of the other party.

What does it do?

Why does it do this?

Is it preparing a spell?

When does it need to be disturbed?

The more the corpse witch fought, the more frightened he became. The undead soul was not afraid, but it was still at a loss. In the end, it almost screamed: "Who are you, the necromancer? Or the black knight?"

What these words received was Freya's merciless sword blow, and its claws holding the bone staff flying high. The monster screamed, and the green fire dimmed in its deep-set eyes.

"Damnable humans..."

The battle finally ended with Markmi's mediocre sword. The corpse witch had been exhausted before that. After his hands and bone staff were shattered, he howled unwillingly and watched the sharp sword cutting into his own flesh.

skull.

With a scratching sound, the soul fire burst out from its body. This was the monster's dying counterattack. However, under Sophie's reminder, only Essen, who had dodged a little slower, suffered a slight burn on his right hand.

On the other side, others also killed the remaining two skeletons at the expense of one person. When the forest returned to calm, only the wind blew through the top of the forest, making a soft rustling sound.

Everyone couldn't help but stop and look at each other.

Everyone, including Freya, looked in disbelief. They actually won, facing four skeleton soldiers and a terrifying corpse witch.

The sword in Makmi's hand fell to the ground with a clang first, followed by a chain reaction of others. Everyone couldn't help but hug each other, shouting and shouting, and some even cried to vent their feelings.

The rest of the life after the disaster really makes people feel a little confused.

Sophie was quiet. He raised his head and saw three points of golden light flying out of the darkness and blending into his chest. No one around him seemed to notice this detail, not even Roman who was standing next to him.

The business lady was breathing a sigh of relief.

Hey, is he the only one who can see this? Sophie couldn't help but feel a little strange.

He glanced around and subconsciously opened the character attributes, just like when he was still in the "Amber Sword". After the battle, Sophie was always the first to review the gains and losses.

Rows of green numbers immediately appeared on the retina——

Strength 1.1, Dexterity 2.0, Constitution 1.0, Intelligence 1.1, Will 1.3, Perception 1.0.

Absolute power 3.5, elements (uncivilized)——

Brando, human male, level 1 (power system: physical, melee combat; talent: unyielding)

xp: 4 (civilian level 1: —, militia level 2, 6/10)

Life (weak, dying): 10% (bandaged state, recover 1 point of life every day)

Employment (idle skill experience 1)——

Civilians [Basic knowledge (level 1), geographical knowledge (level 0), local knowledge (level 1)]

Militia [Military swordsmanship (level 1), fighting skills (level 1), tactical theory (level 0), military organization (level 0)]

It can be found that the changed attributes are strength and physique, indicating that his physical quality has been improved from the training (upgrading) of the militia profession.

Then the absolute strength increased by 2.5 levels, mainly due to the 1-point improvement in dexterity from the Wind Queen Ring, and the secondary reason was the change in physical fitness.

In the end, in this battle, he only got a total of four points of experience from four skeleton soldiers and a corpse witch. Only half of the experience he deserved. Sophie thought about it and finally had to come to a conclusion - team punishment

.

This is simply ridiculous. How could such a thing exist in the real world? However, as a game nerd, he does not have the professional knowledge to explain all of this. After all, traveling through time itself is an even more ridiculous thing than this.

Is not it?

At first, he wanted to find out how the team penalty here was calculated, but he soon discovered that this was in vain because it seemed to have nothing to do with that game at all.

"Master Martha, luckily I'm quite nervous..." He couldn't help but hold his forehead as he had a headache.

But then Sophie stared at her militia level and hesitated for a moment. To be honest, he didn't really want to continue investing in this profession. The militia's waste does not need to be described in words, so it has always been called

NPC-specific occupations.

In his previous life, he never imagined that he would one day waste his experience in this profession.

And he also chose the talent of being unyielding!

Martha, there are too many talents suitable for warriors, and Unyielding happens to be the most unlucky one. This skill can allow him to survive fatal physical blows, but he only has five minutes to explain his funeral.

Unless strong enough treatment is obtained before then.

But so far, he has never seen an item that restores life more effectively than a bandage. You know, these things are everywhere in the game.

But Sophie didn't regret it that much. After all, this skill saved his life, didn't it?

But the current situation is the same. The reality is that he can't find a way to find another profession for the time being. And he is in urgent need of strength, so the only way left is to go all the way to the dark side of the militia profession——

Sophie couldn't help but feel a little depressed for a moment.

Do we have to change from a senior soldier to a senior militiaman? Hey, aren’t the soldiers already enough cannon fodder?
