Chapter 889 Insomnia Investigator

Raleigh Garcia went to bed very late tonight.

He seems to be suffering from insomnia recently. Every night, he sleeps like a naughty child who sneaks out to play and cannot be coaxed back.

In order to ensure sleep, he locked himself in his study and worked until late at night, and then drank a sleeping pill with a glass of strong wine.

This method of approaching self-mutilation still failed to allow him to sleep well and peacefully.

The recent times have been difficult for Rolly Garcia. As the investigating officer of the Rio Police Department's Disciplinary Office, he has endured too much pressure.

The origin was because he received a tip three months ago.

A drug dealer C, who lives in the slums, approached him and claimed that he had irrefutable evidence that Congressman de Las secretly controlled the drug crime network in Rio.

Of course, as an experienced veteran investigator, Rowley is not so easy to believe what a drug dealer says.

These dirty guys are not good people to begin with. The reason why they came to find me as a pawn may be largely due to internal strife or competition for territory.

There are always some individuals among drug dealers who think that they are unique and smart people, who think that they can use some specious false information and clues to deceive the police, allowing them to sit back and watch the fight between tigers, and achieve the purpose of eliminating dissidents.

All this was evidenced in the hands of drug dealer C in Raleigh.

It was a video. The well-dressed congressman Mr. Dras and a group of heavily armed men in black dragged a middle-aged man with tattoos on his arms who looked like a gangster out of the car, and then after some questioning

, one of the men in black held a gun behind the tattooed man, almost to the back of his head, and carried out an execution-style murder.

The video is only one minute long.

But during this minute, Congressman Dras had been standing aside smoking a cigar, looking at the drug dealer in front of him like an animal.

C said that the drug dealer who was shot was his good brother.

The reason why he was killed was because he bought a batch of goods from abroad and sold them privately in the slums, and the people in Dras had warned him long ago that he must be honest and go directly to the designated person if he wanted the goods.

Raleigh could hardly believe his eyes.

This is so ironic, considering that Dras has always been a representative figure in the anti-drug movement. He is a popular figure in the city. He has made impassioned speeches in parliament many times and blamed the police for their ineffectiveness in combating drugs. He is just like an anti-drug fighter.

This video can be described as a huge role reversal, which made people's jaws drop.

C said that he not only had the video of his buddy being shot in the head, but also the recording of Dras and his men approaching his buddy for the first time, telling him that he could only purchase goods from them.

Originally, his friend planned to use these as amulets, but unexpectedly, he was killed instead.

Rowley is a decent police officer, and there really aren't many police officers like him in Rio these days.

And as the commissioner in charge of disciplinary investigations, it seems that cracking down on corruption is also his due responsibility.

The request made by C is very simple, a sum of money, and then provide a witness protection plan to help him change his appearance and leave here to start a new life. After all, there is no place for him to stand here. If all this evidence is handed over to Raleigh, he will be gone.

Any amulet will soon be lying in a smelly ditch or even thrown directly into the sea to feed the fish, and the body will not be found.

Rowley knew he had touched upon a large and well-established drug trafficking organization.

Congressman Deras is a man who can change clouds and rain in Rio. Not only does he have close ties with politicians from all walks of life, but he is also a successful businessman himself. His current wife Angelina is also very keen on charity and contributes to

The disabled police officers also set up a fund. In the eyes of many police officers at the grassroots level, this couple is very prestigious.

It is not easy to overthrow Dras, and it is bound to cause a major earthquake.

After a night of consideration, Raleigh finally agreed to C's request, and returned to the Disciplinary Investigation Office to start filing the case, and organized several capable personnel to form a team to start working on the matter.

But on the third day, when he applied for the witness protection plan, something big happened.

C hangs up.

The body was really dumped in the stinking ditch just as he and Raleigh said.

Raleigh went to see the scene. Even C’s family, wife, mother and two children were all killed at home.

The murderer seemed to want to erase all traces. Not only that, he also burned C's home in the slums and burned the body into black charcoal.

Later, Rowley was informed that his application was not supported by legitimate reasons and evidence, and C, as an important witness, had also failed, so the investigation team was withdrawn.

Another week later, Raleigh was told that he was too old to work in the Investigation Bureau, and his superiors were going to let him work as a manager in the police weapons warehouse.

This is obviously a typical example of sitting on the bench.

Raleigh is only forty-two years old, in middle age, old? This is a big fucking joke.

But of course he knew the trick.

Even his immediate boss may have friends of Congressman Dras.

The water in the Rio drug criminal network is too deep. It is a bottomless pit. Anyone who wants to explore the bottom will probably slide down the abyss and be unable to stand up.

Raleigh was almost desperate.

Unable to circumvent the judicial system and convict Dras, do you really want to learn from Batman, find Dras in the dark and stormy weather, and shoot the culprit directly in the head?

Raleigh still doesn't have the courage. He has a family, a wife who loves him, and a 16-year-old daughter who is in high school. He doesn't have the courage to drop everything and fight against crime.

Not everyone is suitable to be a hero.

Tonight, as usual, Raleigh looked through countless documents in his study, which included various drug-related murders that had occurred in Rio over the years.

He carefully read through the files of these cases and sorted out all the clues related to Dras and his men.

Although he does not dare to be a hero, Investigator Raleigh Garcia hopes that a hero like "Batman" will appear. Once that day comes, his information may be able to do something useful.

It was late at night. Raleigh stretched out and looked at the small alarm clock on the table. It was already past two o'clock in the middle of the night.

His sleepiness still came late, and even though his body was very tired, he just couldn't close his eyes.

Picking up the wide-mouthed cup on the table, he planned to pour himself a glass of strong wine and take a sleeping pill.

This way of eating can easily lead to accidents, but Raleigh felt that if eating like this didn't cost him a little bit of sleep, he might be able to see God within a few days.

Just as he picked up the cup and stood up, the screen of the mobile phone on the table lit up, and the sound of sweet music began to enter his ears along with a humming vibration.

He glanced at the phone screen and saw an unfamiliar number.

After careful consideration for more than ten seconds, he pressed the reject button.

Recently, he has become timid and cautious. When C lived in the slums and his whole family was killed, he had to be more careful. Although he no longer poses any threat to Dras, who knows if this guy will

Hold a grudge?
