Chapter 20 The Pendulum

[Part1·Flow down the river]

The huge curio tent collapsed suddenly, like a dreamy soap bubble, suddenly pierced by flames.

All the flashy bubbles disappeared, and the trapped beasts fled in panic, turning into a raging torrent.

Two prisoners of fate, under the guidance of David Victor, climbed out of the harsh cage——

——But for them, the story seems to have just begun. Just like the slaves in the human zoo, they have unlocked the big lock in their hearts and slowly transformed from beasts back to human beings.

The Perfume Bottle Gang of Sloth Town is still trying every possible means to extinguish the flames. It seems that they can't let go of this sales vault and this gentle town.

The fire spread all the way to the food court and burned all the wooden buildings to the ground.

There are countless people wailing and crying over their real estate properties, and there are also people who have left their hometowns with their wives and children, resolutely embarking on a new journey.

Wen Bucai hugged Victor and emerged from the hot, bulging canvas.

The dark fish-man spirit tore open the cloth and sent the dying Mr. Victor to the yellow earth.

Then the one-eyed warrior got back into the cloth bag, like taking out the placenta from the belly of a ewe, and pulled out Jack Martin with difficulty.

They were burned by the smoke, their eyes, ears, mouth and nose were eroded and inflamed, and there were still a lot of flames on their bodies. They were rolling in the soil and struggling painfully. After a long time, they finally sat up straight and regained their consciousness.

Victor said no more inspiring words, he hugged the little police chief.

Vincent threw the Walker revolver sent by Jim Crow back to the fire scene. He did not need this kind of mission, let alone this job - he no longer wanted to be someone's hired servant, and he no longer wanted to be paid to do things.

The bullets in the cylinder were burned by the fire, and the copper exploded and shattered the gun body. The President of the United States had to work for a whole year to afford this expensive thing, and in the blink of an eye, it turned into scrap metal in the fire.

Wen Bucai lowered his body and hugged Victor and Jack.

He has lost too much, and there is no place for him in this lonely and desolate land, or on the other side of the Pacific Ocean - except Victor and Jack, no one is willing to accept him.

The three brothers staggered up and slowly left the fire scene and Sloth Town without anyone speaking.

Since entering the Museum of Curiosities, they have put their lives on the line. Victor bought the tickets as a special writer, Jack Martin paid for it, and Wen Bucai fired the first shot.

Just a few hours passed, and when they climbed out of this hell on earth, their lives were completely different.

If Wen Bucai wanted to satisfy the desire for revenge in his body, then the fire of anger would also incinerate him.

If little Jack wants to fill the emptiness in his soul, then this greed and regret will also swallow him up.

There was only one infatuated man, David Victor, who was stubborn, meddlesome, and unwilling to bow to his fate. His spirit was like a strange fallen angel, and he woke up these two fellow homo sapiens of a different race and species.

"The sun has risen, and the dry warm wind is making my face itchy..."

From the blood and sweat, a pair of jasper-like green eyes emerged.

"It's a pity that the diary has run out, otherwise I could write down this feeling."

Victor's arms, one on the left and one on the right, were placed on the shoulders of Wen Bucai and Jack Martin. He suffered the most serious injury, but he got up as quickly as possible, almost too weak to stand.

They walked out of the town and continued along the railroad.

Victor has been thinking to himself that he is such a long-winded person - even he himself can't stand this kind of long-windedness. When communicating with others, he always emphasizes that he hopes that the guests can tolerate this endless chattering and be able to be a little bit calmer.

Be patient and accept his overly strong desire for expression.

"The rising sun dries up the water vapor on the rock platform, and the feeling of stepping on it makes your toes feel a little sore. It's different from the usual shady rock environment..."

"There is too much dust in the air, making it difficult to breathe. At dawn when hot and cold alternate, the wind always comes very suddenly - it is like a letter, carrying the ambiguity of the rekindling of an old love, making me sit up and stand.

Uneasy."

“On the southwest side of the low slope oasis, the beasts disturbed by the town fire ran farther away.”

"The birds and animals in the town cherish their lives more than humans. They have no houses, no treasures, and no love or hate that they can't let go of - they are finally free."

"The railway tracks still smell of cow dung. Perhaps the materials transported by animal power also left behind these odors that are difficult to dissipate. I hate this smell. It reminds me of the Austrian countryside. My father has a large estate.

, since I was a child, he would take me to the fields to order the servants to work - I hated the suffocating and barbaric atmosphere, and it seemed that everything could not be happy or relaxed."

"Where are my parents? Will they miss me?"

When Victor said this, he almost fell asleep. He hadn't had a sip of water for a long time. He crossed three performance venues from the bar area and didn't have time to take a breath. He fished Wen Bucai and Jack ashore, and they had to catch the fire again.

He ran for his life - before that, he had suffered countless fatal injuries, and the spider venom in his body was also torturing his nerves.

Wen Bucai had a hard time imagining how this slender and frail cultural man got to this point - Victor seemed to have endless stories to tell.

"Teacher Victor! You need water!" Jack panicked and wanted to change his route to the oasis.

"They probably won't miss me..." Victor smiled stupidly: "A lot of money was spent to redeem me from prison. I can't figure out which one is more important, me or the money - I

They cried when they came out of prison, and they cried when they paid the ransom to build a theater."

Only then did Vincent realize that David Victor had fallen into a dying state of ischemic dementia.

Together with Jack, he quickly carried Victor to the river valley. They walked through more than 700 feet of wasteland and entered a pebble moss field. The three of them were prostrate in the creek, like three stranded fish.

Victor squinted his eyes, he was naked from the waist up, his chest and back were covered with scars, and his silver cat belt and trouser legs were also in tatters.

His explosive curly hair was immersed in the water, and he reluctantly turned his body to lick the water source. After drinking, he started talking and asking questions again, always so curious——

"——I want to know your story, but I can't directly use the power of the soul."

"Except for critical moments of life and death, I cannot abuse this magical power, otherwise I will not be me."

"When we first met, for a moment, I was attracted by its charm and explored your inner world without any scruples."

"There is a devil in my body, and it may in turn control my physical body."

Jack Martin didn't reply. He was still afraid and still couldn't speak.

He didn't know how to explain his story and could hardly tell it.

"You were shouting on the stage, crying heartbreakingly." Victor asked in a low voice: "Who is that man? Is he the leader of the perfume bottle? Is he you?"

Wen Bucai: "I don't understand... If he is you, then who are you?"

Victor also couldn’t figure it out——

——The combined IQ of these three brothers does not exceed 150, which is the glorious tradition of anonymous people.

"This guy's soul power..." Jack Martin told the truth: "This guy's soul power can split everything in two..."

"I saw it," Victor responded, "He split Ms. Wonka in half."

Wen Bucai then added: "The circus ceiling also turned into two halves, and then immediately changed back to its original shape, as if a tailor was cutting the fabric and quickly sewing it back on..."

"It's not just that..." Jack Martin went on to explain: "I'm his other half."

Victor wondered: "You were once conjoined twins? Is he your brother?"

Wen Bucai didn't take it seriously: "Even if he is your biological brother, you don't have to be so sad..."

"He is me!" Jack Martin sharply corrected: "He! The big boss! His other half is me!"

"You mean..." Victor finally understood what Jack really meant.

Jack Martin explained in a panic: "He left all his cowardice and kindness, all his innocence and romance to me! He left all his greedy, lustful, timid and fearful character to me!"

"That's what he said to me, splitting two bodies from one soul, one half!"

"In order to achieve his career, he threw these useless things to me, and then transformed into the head of the perfume bottle."

"He worked for George Joshua, built railroads for the Confederacy..."

"Wen Bucai, it's me who killed your fellow countrymen! It's me! What does this railway represent? It is the blood vessel of the United States...I, an American, am eating your flesh and drinking your blood...

"

At this point, although Jack Martin defeated the greed in his heart, he also left behind his greed for life and fear of death. He once again wanted to shoot himself with a gun - to scatter his brains in the stream.

"As long as I die! Everything will be over! As long as I die!"

He straightened up and vowed, protecting the wet firearm and showing the scar on the tiger's mouth.

"The star-shaped scar on my hand was made by the warrant officer with a gun! The big boss also has this scar..."

"When I shot him, his stomach bled, and so did my intestines!"

"Vincent! He and I are not brothers, nor are we conjoined twins. He and I are the same person, two incarnations created with the power of the soul!"

...

...

[Part2·Don’t ask about the future]

"Jack..." Wen Bucai's eyes changed frequently. He did not expect this result.

The person who drove him to commit suicide was Jack Martin.

The person who saved his life on the railroad tracks was also Jack Martin.

"Your revolver was soaked in water just now." Victor reminded: "Jack, if the gunpowder is soaked in water, it won't fire. You should choose a good and auspicious day before seeking your own death, and this story is not pleasant enough."

"Teacher Victor..." Jack Martin collapsed again and threw away the gun. He looked up at the sky, as if he had lost all his strength: "What should I do, what should I do? I never want to be

A hero, but I don’t want to be a villain either! I don’t want that!”

"It will be bad if this continues." Victor murmured: "If we want to kill the big boss, Jack, you will also die, right?"

"It's better to take a shortcut!" Jack Martin repeatedly emphasized: "When it gets dark and no one sees it, I will give you the police badge and find the barren mountains and ridges that wild wolves and vultures like. No one must know, and the Rangers also

I can't find you, let alone my body - Vincent, I still owe you a life, you can take it back naturally."

"I don't want to take shortcuts anymore..." Wen Bucai turned his head away, not wanting to cry in front of Jack: "I don't want to take shortcuts anymore, I don't want to take shortcuts anymore."

As the temperature changed, the water coming from the river valley became more and more violent. It lifted the bodies of the three brothers and floated slowly downstream.

They don't know where they are going, and their bodies can no longer exert any strength, so they can only drift with the flow.

David Victor said: "You'll find a way, Jack."

Jack Martin said: "What should we do? This guy's soul power is very powerful! No matter how strong the armor is, it will be split in an instant!"

Vincent said: "It's good if you don't get hit."

"I can't shoot you." Victor emphasized: "Jack Martin, I can't shoot a righteous Ranger - it doesn't conform to my morality, and it will only make my heart full of holes."

"He was never you, Jack Martin." Vincent then emphasized: "What I really want is not revenge - I want to avenge myself and fight for my dead compatriots. I want this beast

I want him to kneel in front of me and cry bitterly. I want him to bow his head and admit his mistake after being tortured. I want him to know why he died! This is very important!"

"Taking shortcuts is useless, it will only make me more miserable..."

"What should we do?" David Victor asked seriously and persistently: "What should we do? Can Jack survive?"

"Arrow! Maybe you can figure out a solution if you find the arrow!" Vincent climbed up from the turbulent water and almost fell, "Jim Crow said! Arrows are very important! That is the artifact that the big boss has been pursuing. It is the treasure of the library."

The treasure of the Kurkan Quetzalcoatl ruins. This guy will definitely continue to dig deeper into the ruins, and he will get more powerful power!"

"Our power comes from arrows." David Victor stood up: "Perhaps if we use arrows against the big boss again, the gods will take back this power..."

"This guy's spirit form and I..." Jack talked about the spirit body of the big leader, trying to recall the illusory shadow: "It was originally one and the same, it was a pendulum clock."

"He has a clock cabinet and a dial, with square hands and an empty box."

"All that is left of my spirit body is a hanging thread and a round pendulum with a clover pattern."

"If it is a complete spirit body, a complete clock, the soul can be divided into two. Now he can only cut the object in half, and can no longer cut the spirit body - maybe it can be done! Vincent

!Use arrows against him!"

Where are the arrows! Arrows! Where did the arrows go?

Only then did little Jack become alert. The token Vincent left on him, the gold arrowhead originally used to pledge his bullets and horses, was also missing!

"Stolen by him! Stolen by him?!"

There is no doubt that the arrow has fallen into the hands of the big boss.

"That's good news. At least we don't have to go back to Sloth Town or dig into the ruins to find it." David Victor grabbed Jack's hand and finally stood up at the end of the stream.

Victor hugged each other and picked up the wet doctor's bag: "Go to the ruins to find him!"

Wen Bucai put the cowboy hat full of bullet holes on Jack Martin's head again——

"——First of all, we must recharge our batteries and fill our stomachs."

The three of them happened to stop at a signposted intersection in the Gobi wilderness. There was a store called the Slaughtering Sheep Hotel, which was a resting place for postmen and hunters.

Jack Martin felt like he was in another world, no longer confused and afraid - even if the end of this road points directly to death.

"Walk!"
