Chapter 493 Tianfa Temple Cellar (5)

In this square dark room, there are piles of scripture scrolls everywhere, but the unique fragrance of ink still remains~~

Chen Zhi once read the modern version of Journey to the West. Tang Monk and his three disciples traveled thousands of miles to the Holy Land of the West and brought back thousands of scriptures. Those scriptures were all compiled into volumes, and each one was like a book.

Chen Zhi thought that was what the ancient scriptures looked like, but now he saw the original Western Buddhist scriptures. Chen Zhi realized that the original ancient Indian scriptures were folded vertically into a fold-like shape and then placed in precious metal boxes.

inside, piece by piece, or rolled into a scroll.

There are also some extremely precious fragments of scriptures that have been put into gold-inlaid crystal tubes and filled with liquid. They are crystal clear and very finely preserved.

The entire room is lined with tall shelves from the ground to the top, and inside are neat collections of scriptures. For some unknown reason, those scriptures emit a unique radiance, making people feel like they are the most sacred place in the world.

There is nothing better than this!

"The world only knows that scriptures have been handed down from generation to generation, but they don't know that what has been handed down from generation to generation is actually human words...",

Monk Danxuan smiled lightly and said,

"All the scriptures were in ancient Indian when they came back from the West. In order to prevent mistranslation of Buddhist scriptures, the former Master Xuanzang worked day and night to translate the most original Buddhist scriptures, but errors and omissions were still inevitable~~~

Don’t you know that even the most primitive Buddhist teachings actually have some differences? The truth that Buddha Shakyamuni held in his hands and smiled, and uttered the true words from his mouth, has been subject to many speculations and modifications by later generations..."

"Okay Master~~~~",

Chen Zhi suddenly interrupted Danxuan and said:

"This is all your own business!

We are all secular people, and we don’t dare to speculate too much about Buddhism. Before we come on this trip, please take us to find the 苾荍!”

"Amitabha!"

After hearing this, Danxuan put his palms together and said: "

That strawberry was brought back from the Western Regions by Master Xuanzang. It was later stored in Tianfa Temple. After many vicissitudes of life, most of it has withered, and only this one remains.

My mentor once sent this bicud to a private bank for safekeeping. Later, my mentor's master dreamed at night that he did not want anything in the secret room to leave this place, and ordered my mentor to retrieve the bicud.

So my mentor took the bicu stored outside and brought it back to Tianfa Temple!"

"Master, your words are too outrageous!"

Fat Wei was listening beside him, and he couldn't bear it anymore.

"This is a dream come true in the middle of the night. This place is already very cautious, but you still say this, and I, an old-timer, feel cold..."

When Fat Wei said this, he immediately realized that he had made a mistake and hurriedly stopped his mouth and turned around.

"No, what I mean is, master, please stop showing off...

This place is so eerie that we can't stay long.

Where is that piece of cake of yours? Bring it to us quickly, we are very grateful! But don’t give us any more riddles!”

"Haha, donor, don't be impatient, I will take you in right now...",

After Danxuan finished speaking, he walked forward for a while. It turned out that there was a small wooden secret door on the dark wall in front of him. Because of the dim light, he had not noticed it just now. Now if he looked carefully, that door

The small door looked dilapidated, with a heavy iron chain hanging on it and a small lock.

After Danxuan got there, he found the bunch of keys from his arms, took out a very small one, stuffed it into the black lock, twisted it gently, and opened it.

Then Danxuan pushed open the old wooden door with a gentle push of his hands.

"Crash~~~", the wooden door was suddenly filled with dust and slowly opened~~

Behind the wooden door is a very narrow space. With a weak candlelight, you can see a small dark room of less than 20 square meters.

In the middle of the darkroom, there is a circular meadow. The original shape of the meadow has long been lost, and it has become dilapidated and condensed.

But there was a low table on the meadow, with a copper oil lamp placed on it, as well as pen, ink, paper and inkstone, and a blackened mummy was lying on it.

This skeleton has long since shrunk beyond its appearance. The muscles and skin on its body have turned brown and black, and are stuck to the wooden table. It can be seen that it has been dead for a long time.

But there are still some broken textile fragments on the body, and the withered hand holds a string of Buddhist beads. But the red gold silk cassock draped diagonally on the body, after so many years of dust, is still as good as new, as gorgeous as the morning glow on the horizon.

The gold threads sparkle and the jewelry dazzles, it’s incredible!

The head of the corpse was tilted sideways on the table, and the facial features could no longer be seen. There was also a crown of Five Buddhas on the head.

After seeing the corpse, Chen Zhi and Pang Wei couldn't help but look at each other, and then fell silent...

The Buddhist crown is the crown of a monk. When the Buddhist Tantra master presides over the practice, the abbot will wear a crown symbolizing the Five Wisdoms Tathagata. There is a Buddha of Five Transformations in the center of the crown to express the perfect virtue of the Five Wisdoms. He is a high-status monk.

Qualified to wear it.

At this time, the corpse is wearing a crown, which proves that this monk must have had a high status during his lifetime. He may be the abbot here, or he may be a monk with a higher status than the abbot, but it seems that such monks will pass away and be buried.

, why would the body be abandoned here...

"That... that Master Danxuan!",

After seeing this scene, Fat Wei couldn't help but feel a little cramp in his legs.

"Don't tell me that the person lying on the table is the legendary Master Xuanzang!

If this is the case, I really can't accept it...

Tell me, should I kneel down and kowtow right now? Or what?"

"Master Xuanzang should not be here...",

Chen Zhi frowned and said:

"It is recorded in history books...

On the ninth day of the first lunar month, Xuanzang became seriously ill and passed away at midnight on February 5th. More than a million mourners from both the government and the public gathered to bury his ashes in Bailuyuan. In 669, the second year of the Tang Dynasty, the imperial court reburied him in the Tang Dynasty.

When Guoxingjiao Temple was built, Emperor Suzong of the Tang Dynasty personally inscribed the word "Xingjiao" on the forehead of the stupa.

Records of such large-scale events are basically infallible...

And even if this record is untrue, given Xuanzang’s identity at the time, it would be impossible for him to be left in the cellar to die like this. Whose mummy does this belong to?

Why did he die so miserably while wearing such high-end clothing..."

"Amitabha, this is exactly what I want to ask the donor to answer!",

Danxuan first bowed towards the mummy, then twisted the beads and said:

"It has been hundreds of generations since Tianfa Temple was passed down to me!

The corpse in this underground palace has always been the biggest secret of Tianfa Temple. Today, the poor monk no longer wants to watch this secret. The poor monk wants to know who this corpse that has been passed down from ancient times is...

…”
