Danxuan's words greatly exceeded everyone's expectations. He said in a fat and powerful way:
"I don't know what this master is thinking. Who would believe him if he told people the truth at this time? He must have thought he was crazy.
And for making such a request, it is a violation of public outrage, and it is estimated that Master Xuan will soon be arrested as a mentally ill person!"
But Danxuan was very persistent this time. That afternoon, he contacted the abbot of the Great Compassion Temple and met with him alone to tell his story frankly.
Of course, Danxuan didn't say anything about longevity, and the other party didn't ask either.
It is said that after the abbot of the Great Mercy Temple heard about this incident, he was so surprised that he vomited a mouthful of blood on the spot. He regained consciousness after a long time of relief.
After waking up, I was in a state of shock and chanted Buddha's name loudly.
Fortunately there was no one around, otherwise one would have known from the abbot's expression that something serious had happened.
After settling down, the abbot of the Great Mercy Temple remained silent for several hours, keeping silent.
But at the last moment, he agreed to Danxuan's request.
The abbot of the Great Mercy Temple has made a solemn promise that he will keep this matter absolutely confidential. After hearing it from his ears, he will never tell anyone again, nor will he tell the next abbot, in order to protect the peace of the Buddhist world.
!
However, the abbot also made corresponding requirements:
The layout of the Great Mercy Temple is very complicated. The abbot's authority is to only allow them to enter the stupa courtyard. After entering the stupa courtyard, the abbot does not care about other matters.
And when entering the stupa, you must abide by four principles:
1. No damage is allowed. The relics cannot be damaged in any way, and no trace of them can be taken out.
Second, you must not lie, and you are not allowed to lie in front of the sacred relic.
Third, you must not defile any vessel in any sacred tower, not even the air in the tower.
Fourth, you are only given one night, you must leave at dawn, and from now on, you can never enter again!
This result was unexpected by everyone. Danxuan told them that the time was set for tonight, so that everyone could prepare early.
After that, the staff started to get busy.
Xuanzang's relics are definitely not allowed to be taken out of the temple, which means that the parent-child identification can only be done in the Great Mercy Temple.
This laboratory procedure requires a lot of instruments and equipment, as well as the participation of technical personnel. In addition to professional refinement, these technical personnel must have excellent psychological quality.
The scientific researchers who came to Xi'an this time are all excellent scientific research talents, and they are all familiar with basic tests such as DNA matching.
After a short period of selection, three scientific researchers were determined to go in with them. One of them was the team leader. He was in his forties, steady and experienced, and was Professor Liao's eldest disciple.
After preparing everything, he was ready to go.
So on this night, Chen Zhi took Guidao, Pang Wei, and three scientific researchers to Tianfa Temple to meet Danxuan.
Danxuan is a very careful person. He kept this matter very secret and only brought a close disciple with him, and this little disciple didn't understand anything.
Danxuan arranged a large business car, like the kind used by celebrities. It can accommodate many people and scientific research equipment. It has already parked at the entrance of Tianfa Temple.
After seeing Chen Zhi and the others appear, Danxuan opened the window and waved to them inside.
So, everyone followed Chen Zhi and got into the business car. The car started slowly and they rushed to the Great Mercy Temple together that night.
The location of the Great Mercy Temple is different from that of Tianfa Temple. The area where Tianfa Temple is located is very prosperous. There are many streets outside the gate and there are shops related to Buddhism everywhere.
There is a constant flow of people and a constant flow of incense.
The Great Mercy Temple is located in the suburbs. Because the door is closed and does not accept incense from outside, few people come there.
They spent a long time on the road. They set off around six o'clock, and when they waited, it was already close to 10 o'clock in the evening.
It was a cold night in the mountains, the moon was obscured by dark clouds, and the sky was completely dark.
When they arrived in front of the gate, everyone felt the solemnity and rigorous style of this temple.
As expected, this is not a tourist attraction like Tianfa Temple that is open to the public, and there are no colorful prayer flags to be seen.
Although it is a Buddhist holy place, it is extremely depressing. Behind the dark door, you can see faint lights, and the people standing at the door are actually armed policemen with guns, giving it a serious atmosphere of law.
When they saw the car approaching, the armed policemen immediately came over with guns drawn, and with a very serious expression on their faces, they coldly asked them who they were.
Danxuan announced his name and showed his face to him.
The armed policeman understood immediately and waved to the sentry in front with a sullen face to let the car pass.
So, they successfully entered the Great Mercy Temple.
After entering, everyone discovered that the Great Mercy Temple was really different.
The area here is not generally vast. Once inside, it feels like you have entered a mountain garden, with patches of woods, pavilions, and suspension bridges.
The Great Mercy Temple was the largest temple renovated with royal funds during the Tang Dynasty. It occupied half of Jinchangfang at that time, with a total of 13 courtyards and 1,897 rooms.
After entering from the gate, the road twists and turns. Every time you reach a certain distance, there will be a sentry. The sentry personnel are all armed police with guns. There is electronic scanning in front, and the security technology is very advanced.
And you often see patrolling guards, who are really guarding the place at all levels and are impregnable. Without the permission of the abbot, it is really difficult to enter.
But with the acquiescence of the abbot of the Great Mercy Temple and Danxuan's golden face, all the hurdles along the way were passed smoothly.
Finally, they entered the deepest part of the monastery, passed a corner, and there were no sentries from there.
After a while, they saw a large courtyard. The door of the courtyard was obviously very old and made of thick metal. There was a heavy iron chain tied to the door handle. It was obvious that no one had entered for a long time.
.
And outside the courtyard, they finally saw the legendary pagoda, the place where the bones of Master Xuanzang were laid, the stupa!
According to official historical records, this is a pagoda built under the supervision of Master Xuanzang himself.
The relic pagoda was built in the third year of Yonghui reign of Emperor Gaozong of the Tang Dynasty. It was originally used to house the relics of Sakyamuni Buddha.
Master Xuanzang brought back Buddhist statues and relics from India and wanted to find a special place to enshrine them. Then he asked Emperor Gaozong for permission to build the tower. The tower is 64.5 meters high and has seven floors. The bottom of the tower is square cone-shaped, and each side of the bottom floor is long.
25 meters.
It was called a wonder after it was built at that time. It was the largest relic stupa.
As soon as he arrived outside the courtyard gate, Chen Zhi immediately felt it.
It turns out that the legend of the sacred Buddha's light shining all over the earth in the past is not a fiction...
