"The Holy Buddha Crosses the Scroll Wall" is the mural they saw in the East Thousand Buddhas Cave that describes the real scene of Journey to the West.
It was also the mural that finally led them to this place.
It describes that Xuanzang and Dushangfo were guided by the white-robed god, made a contract with the King of Gaochang, accepted his funding, and then set out from Gaochang Kingdom to travel west to Tianzhu to obtain scriptures and return.
But these contents in this mural at this time are only the first half.
However, what you see here now is the subsequent half...
The painting work in this subsequent scene is extremely rough and the colors are thick. It was obviously painted by ordinary people in the later period imitating the master's handwriting.
And its content is all about what happened in Gaochang in the later period after Xuanzang's master and apprentice left.
After Xuanzang and Douzhanfo left with Gaochang's huge resources, Gaochang entered a state of preparation for war by reducing food and clothing.
As can be seen on the screen, the prosperous capital city of Gaochang has been closed, and the citizens have refused the invitations of businessmen coming and going, and have since entered a state of national worship.
Among these people, there was a man wearing a crown. He was about twenty years old and had a full beard. He took off his royal robes studded with jewels, wore a monk's robe, held Buddhist beads, and led the people.
He worshiped the Buddha devoutly and recited scriptures in the temple day and night.
But what happened next was war...
In the next scene, countless soldiers wearing Tang Dynasty armor began to besiege the capital of Gaochang.
They held long halberds and killed the people of Gaochang without mercy.
The people were all wearing white robes, their hair disheveled and miserable, while the women were holding their children and crying under the city wall, begging the soldiers outside for mercy.
But those soldiers holding halberds still penetrated their hearts ruthlessly!
Under this fierce attack, not a single soldier in Gaochang came out to fight back. On the contrary, they all held Buddha beads in their hands, put their palms together, and knelt down to wait for God's mercy.
The king with the crown on his head was hiding in a small temple, wearing a white monk's robe, kneeling under the Buddha statue, trembling all over, begging the Lord Buddha for forgiveness...
This horrific battle to seize the city has been going on for who knows how long. Every scene after that will have a lot more blood, which is enough to show the brutality of the massacre at that time.
In the last picture, the entire city turned red, like a blooming peony in the desert.
This ancient Gaochang Kingdom, a treasure in the desert, was finally completely destroyed...
These scenes are clearly visible on the scroll wall. The massacre combined with the devout believers holding Buddhist beads is simply a satirical farce.
And this farce, in this cold darkness, makes people tremble.
While Chen Zhi was looking at the scroll wall, Fat Wei turned his attention to Zhou.
When he saw a location, he suddenly stopped, then patted Chen Zhi with his hand, put his finger on his mouth, and signaled him to keep quiet.
Fat Wei then pointed to the darkness ahead, where many shadows were hidden.
They were obviously human beings. They were leaning there, with their heads hanging down, and their arms hanging down. They were obviously dead people.
Fat Wei then gestured to Chen Zhi and said a few words of lip language, and the meaning was very clear:
"The one ahead is Zongzi, be careful!"
Fat Wei then held a handful of bloody glutinous rice, leaned against the stone wall, and very carefully began to move forward.
His movements were very light, and when he finally arrived in front of the black shadow, he suddenly hit the black shadow's neck at an extremely fast speed, knocked him to the ground neatly, and then stuffed a handful of bloody glutinous rice into the black shadow's mouth!
The strange thing is that the black figure did not tremble or struggle like a zombie. On the contrary, he was pressed to the ground without making any sound...
Fat Wei felt very strange, so he turned the black shadow over and shined a searchlight on it, then his face was full of astonishment.
Chen Zhi also walked over and used a searchlight to shine on the dark figure's face, only to see that it was a man with blood on his face!
He is about forty years old, very strong, with a rough face. He must have been involved in physical labor.
He was wearing outdoor clothing, which is the attire of a modern person, but he must have been dead for a while. The flesh on his body was rotten and smelly, and his eyes were almost rotten.
Chen Zhi opened the man's front shirt and flipped it over his chest.
A work permit was found in his arms, which read: Dongfeng Engineering Construction Group.
In addition, there are some professional certificates and business cards of building material suppliers. It looks like he must be a foreman.
Fat Wei found all the black shadows around him, and they were all the corpses of modern people.
Some are industrial construction personnel and some are archaeologists. They are all in the same team. They should be the people who lived in the iron house above.
"These people probably died after discovering this place and seeing something here~~" Chen Zhi said to Fat Wei through lip language,
"If this is the case, it proves that their murderer is still here!
Be careful!".
After Chen Zhi finished speaking, he made a gesture, and the two of them separated into the east and west lanes in tacit agreement, each chose one and walked into the darkness.
After searching around, I didn't find anything strange, but there was a permanent lampstand in the middle of the ground.
Fat Wei put a ball of fire in, and with a "bang" sound, the flames immediately burned, completely lighting up the place.
Everything in the underground temple was immediately visible. Golden light suddenly appeared, and the treasures were overwhelming. The decoration here was indeed very luxurious. Even the edges of the table corners were inlaid with gems. There were a dazzling array of gold medals and jade bowls. Everything was very Western.
style.
Chen Zhi looked around and found that it was indeed a small, closed temple with all the utensils for worshiping Buddha.
In addition to Buddhist scriptures, there was also a terrifyingly tall Buddha statue directly in front of them. The Buddha statue was plated with gold, and its whole body was golden and sparkling under the firelight...
The entire basement temple was spotless, except for a bit of dust that had just drifted in from outside, not a drop of accumulated dust could be seen.
This proves that for more than 1,300 years, this place should have been completely sealed, and not even air came in.
After the ruins were developed, this hidden underground temple was accidentally opened...
