Chapter Eleven: Ask in person

Mrs. Fang was obviously used to the elders condescending to accommodate the younger ones, and had no reaction to it. She only felt a little worried when she heard the old lady ask about Miss Jun.

"Mom, it's getting late, and Zhen Zhen is tired from riding in the car, so why not take a rest first," she said gently.

This is a suggestion to Mrs. Fang not to irritate Miss Jun anymore.

Mrs. Fang understood what she meant, but she didn't stop.

"You go back first," she said.

Mrs. Fang never disobeyed her mother-in-law, so she did not respond to any further advice. At the same time, she looked at Miss Jun and saw that the little girl was also looking at her, her dark eyes on her snow-like skin were calm and peaceful.

Calm and peaceful, these two words described Jun Zhenzhen a bit suddenly, and Mrs. Fang was startled.

The calm little girl lowered her eyes to hide her gaze.

"Zhen Zhen, I have the kitchen prepared. Tell them what you want to eat." Mrs. Fang said softly, suppressing the weirdness in her heart.

In view of Miss Jun's weird temper, Mrs. Fang didn't dare to arrange her food, so she simply set up a kitchen for Miss Jun alone.

Miss Jun hummed, curtsied and then walked away.

Logically she should say thank you to her aunt, but since Miss Jun is not used to doing these things, she might as well do it slowly.

Even so, Mrs. Fang also looked at Mrs. Fang and Miss Jun who entered a courtyard one after another along the road with a ghostly look on her face.

"I don't know what tricks I'm going to do." She said to herself, with a bit of helplessness, she looked at the maid standing aside, thinking of the news she just heard, "Did you really say that you broke off the engagement with the Ning family? Yes.

Did she quit on her own initiative?"

The servant girl responded yes.

"That's what she said. The old lady has asked people to inquire about the specific details in Beiliu," she said.

Mrs. Fang frowned slightly.

"In this case, why did the old lady go and ask her in person?" she said, "Can what she said be considered human language? There is nothing to listen to."

Everyone in the Fang family agreed with Miss Jun's evaluation. What she was doing was not human affairs, and what she said was naturally not human. In the past, the old lady didn't even bother to look at her, let alone ask her in person.

"Perhaps it's to appease her." The maid thought for a while and guessed, "After all, our family really can't stand her making trouble anymore."

"To comfort her? She doesn't care about our family. How can she be comforted?" Mrs. Fang said. She stopped when she was about to say something, looked over and turned around, "Go back."

……………………………………………………

The lanterns on the roadside were already lit. Miss Jun held Liu'er's hand and walked slowly along with Old Mrs. Fang in front of her.

It didn't look that far from the second gate to the courtyard where she lived, but after walking through the courtyard, up the steps and over the flower wall, and walking in a circuitous way, my feet got sore before I saw a row of houses.

How disgusting is it that Miss Jun is placed in such a place where she is out of sight and out of mind?

Although they live far away, the courtyard is even more beautiful, and the lamps have been lit in the corridor. Four girls are standing there, saluting in unison, and raising the heavy embroidered door curtain.

"Old lady, Miss Jun." They called in soft voices.

Miss Jun should be called cousin in her grandmother's family according to her seniority, but Miss Jun doesn't like to be lowered in status, so everyone calls her Miss Jun to outsiders.

Miss Jun pursed her lips and followed Mrs. Fang into the house.

The lights in the room are bright, warm as spring, and full of fragrance.

Miss Jun glanced at the three living rooms, the main hall, the study and the bedroom of this rich man. Compared with the low-key luxury of the Ning family, the decoration here was a bit elegant and shabby.

Just like the old dress that Miss Jun is wearing at this time.

The girl outside the door did not dare to come in without Miss Jun's permission. Liu'er deftly and skillfully took the hot tea from the stove and brought it over.

"Miss, please drink tea and warm yourself up," she said.

It was the first time for me to ride in a car for so long in the winter in the north. Miss Jun did feel that her body and hands were a little stiff. She stretched out her hand to take it, feeling the warmth in her hands spreading throughout her body. It seemed that she could not be sure that she was truly alive until this moment.

Liu'er didn't go to hold a second cup of tea, and didn't even care that the real owner of the house was still sitting in the hall.

Old Mrs. Fang didn't pay attention. A servant girl and two girls who came in with her were also standing quietly aside. They seemed to be used to it.

Now that I'm used to it, some small details can be changed, and some can't be used. It's not good to be too deliberate. It's still free and easy to be informal.

Everyone is at ease.

Miss Jun took a sip of tea and held the teacup in her hand.

Liu'er was calling the girl outside to ask for hot water to prepare meals.

"I want to eat duck blood soup and small meatballs." Miss Jun said, "Go and tell them to make it while I talk to the old lady."

It was enough to just give an order for this kind of thing, but Liu'er's mind changed. The lady added the word "go" and said "talk to the old lady", which meant that she was asked to avoid it.

Although she didn't quite understand why the lady asked her to avoid it, she must listen to her words. Liu'er responded and went out.

"You can go down too." Old Mrs. Fang said to her servants and girls.

The servant girl responded and retreated with the girl.

"What's going on?" Mrs. Fang asked straight to the point, "What does it mean to break off the engagement with the Ning family?"

"It's a long story," Miss Jun said, "but it's also simple."

Old Mrs. Fang frowned.

"I committed suicide to scare the Ning family and you, the old lady." Miss Jun continued.

Miss Jun firstly hated the Ning family for betraying their trust and denying their relatives, and secondly hated the Fang family for being unkind and unwilling to stand up for her, so she wanted to accuse and warn the two families with her life, so that the world could see their despicableness clearly and make them afraid.

Old Mrs. Fang sneered.

"In the end, I almost died." Miss Jun continued.

Her voice was soft and slow, and her tone had no ups and downs without any emotion, but these words made people's hearts tremble, and they felt inexplicably vicissitudes of life.

Old Mrs. Fang couldn't help but look at her. The girl's expression was as calm as her tone of voice, and her eyes were like deep pools.

Everyone said that Miss Fang San resembled Mrs. Fang, but when she saw Miss Jun, Mrs. Fang knew that her granddaughter was more like her, especially those eyes.

But the surprise when they first met quickly turned into disappointment, and I didn't want to have any resemblance to this child. Doing so would only increase my irritation.

What she said is true.

At this time, because of seeing these eyes, this idea came out uncontrollably. Old Mrs. Fang frowned again, but Miss Jun changed her tone and continued to speak.

"When death really came, I realized that nothing is more important than living." She said, "So I felt that I was so ridiculous. How could I harm myself for others? Coercion is not sweet, and neither is getting married.

If they don't want to get married, forget it. I will take Liu'er to their door to explain clearly to them and return the marriage certificate."

Mrs. Fang's face remained expressionless after listening to the first few sentences, but her expression changed after hearing the last sentence.

"Marriage certificate?" She blurted out and asked, "Didn't you say there is no marriage certificate?"

"I deliberately made my aunt angry," Miss Jun said.

Old Mrs. Fang's eyes twitched.

She thought of the dispute between Miss Jun and Mrs. Fang at that time, and understood what Miss Jun meant. But was it just a matter of anger?

The marriage contract is the key to this matter. It would be better for her to just throw away the marriage contract and just rely on messing around. How could she be so stupid as to ignore the distinction between right and wrong and ignore right and wrong?

If she hadn't personally sent someone to pick it up from Jun's house, she would have doubted whether she got the wrong child.

Although Mr. Jun's uncle is a bit brainy, he is still a scholar who can pass the exam. Although his daughter is delicate, she is not confused.

"What good does being angry with her do to you?" she said, holding back her temper, "Why didn't you take it out earlier?"

"Would the Ning family agree if we had brought it out earlier?" Miss Jun said, looking at Old Mrs. Fang, "Would you do anything different?"

Mrs. Fang raised her eyebrows.

If it had been taken out early, the Ning family would not agree to the marriage. What the Ning family does not agree with is the marriage, not whether there is a certificate.

This sentence is easy to understand, but the next sentence is sarcastic.

Would you do anything differently?

If the Ning family did not agree to the marriage without a marriage certificate, the Fang family would not come to the house or force them to question the Ning family.

If there is a marriage certificate and the Ning family still disagrees with the marriage, will the Fang family use the marriage certificate to question and confront the Ning family?

Of course not.

Instead of crying or scolding them for being heartless and unjust, she was afraid of power and avoided trouble. Instead, she asked them questions and asked them to answer.

There is no way to defend yourself if you answer by yourself, so is she being sarcastic? (To be continued)
