Chapter 9 Two Sheep

It is not unusual for sheep to come here.

Qizhou and Baozhou are closely connected on the border. There are even several villages that are half in Qizhou and half in Baozhou. In daily life, everyone does not distinguish between you and me, but it is different now.

"Have you been here several times? Why don't you search for them?" Director Li hesitated and said.

Zhang Zhicheng immediately glared.

"Why." He said, "Duke Cheng Guo has taught us to be absolutely ruthless towards the Jin people. These brats will not surrender until they are beaten."

Director Li looked hesitant.

"Isn't it true that Duke Cheng Guo is not here now?" he said. "Uncle Qinghe just issued an order a few days ago to maintain peace on the border and avoid any disputes."

Zhang Zhicheng didn't like hearing this.

"What does making trouble mean?" he said. "We are never the ones making trouble. How come we are making trouble when we defend our country?"

Director Li didn't like hearing this either.

"Who said you are causing trouble? Don't mess around. I'm just reminding you that the world is different now, and everyone should change their ways of doing things," he said.

Zhang Zhicheng was even more depressed when he heard this.

"There are really more and more bullshit rules." He said. "In the past, except for military training and defense, Cheng Guogong was not allowed to be careless. Everything else was done randomly. Where did there come from so many rules, especially with the Jin people?

When it comes to rules, fists are the rules."

Director Li slapped the table.

"What do you call these rules? Why are you yelling at me?" He shouted with a stern face, "Are there any rules?"

Zhang Zhicheng immediately stood up straight and answered with a serious expression.

"I know you are not used to it now." Li Dujian said slowly, "But now it is different from before. We have made peace with the Jin people. We can't just fight and kill each other when we meet like before."

Zhang Zhicheng endured it again and again but still couldn't.

"Sir, peace has been negotiated, but the Jin people are still the Jin people. We have been dealing with them for many years, and we still don't know their urine properties." He said, "These guys are tough and not soft. We must not talk to them.

Peaceful."

Director Li slapped the table again.

"Shut up." He shouted with a glare. "Anyway, there are orders from above. Don't mess with the rules."

Zhang Zhicheng bowed his head and answered yes.

While they were talking here, some soldiers quickly ran into the official hall.

"Sir, Lord Manager has sent someone here." He shouted.

Li Dujian immediately stood up from his chair.

"Please come quickly." He said respectfully, and walked out quickly to greet him. After walking a few steps, he seemed to remember Zhang Zhicheng who was still standing here, "Go down."

Zhang Zhicheng responded and watched Li Dujian walk away quickly.

"Really, do you need to be so respectful? Who took these civil servants seriously before?" He then raised his head and muttered.

Qizhou Road Manager was a civil servant, and the people he sent were naturally civil servants. In the past, Dujian Li would not have paid much attention to him, but now it is different from before.

This is all because Duke Cheng Guo is not here.

"When will the Duke of Guo come back?"

Outside the fort, a group of soldiers squatted or stood looking at Zhang Zhicheng and said.

"These days are not short."

"Yes, all the generals from other places have returned, only the Duke is left."

Zhang Zhicheng spit out the dead grass in his mouth.

"Soon." He said vaguely.

As soon as he finished speaking, a soldier came running over quickly.

"Master Zhang, the Governor asked you to take people to find Jin Min's lost sheep," he said.

As soon as this was said, the soldiers present were also surprised.

"Why!" Zhang Zhicheng jumped up and shouted.

The soldier took a step back in fear.

"Master Jinglue knows about it and says that the people of Jin are pitiful. In order to stabilize the border and establish a good relationship between the two countries, please help me." He said urgently. He couldn't learn those elegant words. "Anyway, I will let you look for it. You can't find it."

There is an explanation for everything."

After saying that, he ran away quickly, fearing that he would be beaten by Zhang Zhicheng.

Zhang Zhicheng was so angry that he wanted to hit someone.

"I'm going to argue with them," he shouted. "The gold thief robbed so many cattle and sheep from us back then. It's really his grandma's fault. Now he wants us to find sheep for him."

The soldiers hurriedly stopped him. Although they were angry, they also knew that they could not disobey the orders from above.

"It is not for the sake of the Jin people and the common people. If you argue with the officials, you are flattering them."

Everyone gave advice one after another.

Zhang Zhicheng also knew that he was a soft-spoken person, and it was impossible for him to change the orders given by Master Jinglue, so he had no choice but to throw his hands away angrily.

"Besides, just look for it, who says you will definitely find it." A soldier comforted him.

But sometimes things just don't go as one would like. The two sheep that Jin Min lost were actually found, but what they found were two dead sheep.

They can be identified because the tails of these two sheep are dyed red.

This is not a custom in the area.

"We don't know whose sheep it is. It was chased by a dog and broke its leg. It died after picking it up." Two villagers said tremblingly. "We asked in the village and they all said it was not their own sheep.

Unexpectedly..."

Although it was said that it was peaceful, the word "Jin people" was what frightened them. Now that they heard that these two dead sheep belonged to the Jin people, their faces turned pale with fear.

Will they be captured and buried with Jin Min's sheep?

Zhang Zhicheng cursed in his heart and walked around the dead sheep, rolling his eyes.

"All sheep in the world look the same," he said, and suddenly pulled out his sword.

The two villagers were so frightened that they fell to their knees. The wind of the knife passed by and the sheep's tail flew up.

"Isn't that great?" Zhang Zhicheng put the knife back and looked at the two dead sheep with their tails cut off on the ground with some satisfaction. He raised his hands and said, "Come on, since the fellow villagers are so kind, we are not polite. Today

I’ll go back later and eat roasted lamb.”

The villagers and soldiers were stunned for a moment, and then understood.

The villagers kowtowed with gratitude, while the soldiers carried the dead sheep with exaggerated cheers and laughter.

When night fell, a bonfire was lit under the fort. A dozen soldiers were surrounding, watching the foremen busy. The two roasted muttons on the shelf were sizzling and fragrant. Just with this aroma, there were already many

He drank several bowls of wine, and Zhang Zhicheng was even surrounded by his subordinates and punched him to drink.

"It's roasted." The soldier over there shouted, cutting off the meat of the lamb leg, "Please taste it first, sir."

Zhang Zhicheng laughed and stood up. Just as he was about to take the mutton, a large group of people came galloping towards him.

"Zhang Zhicheng." Li Dujian shouted in a sharp voice, "What are you doing?"

It turns out that the Governor is here.

Zhang Zhicheng raised his drink while half drunk.

"Master Li, come quickly, I was about to invite you," he said. "Come and eat mutton."

Li Dujian jumped off the horse, his face stiffened, and he kept winking at Zhang Zhicheng.

"Who asked you to drink?" he shouted.

But it was still a step too late, and someone stepped over from behind him.

"Where did you get this sheep?" the man shouted in a sharp voice.

The bonfire illuminated his civilian official robe, and his face was dark and uncertain, which looked a bit scary.

Zhang Zhicheng was half sober and realized that this was probably the official sent by Master Jinglue to inquire about the incident of the Jin people losing their sheep.

"The fellow villagers gave it to us." He said loudly, "If you don't believe me, just ask."

As soon as he finished speaking, someone came out from the side and knelt down.

"Sir, this is a small report, this is the golden man's sheep that was stolen." He shouted, raising his hands high.

The two sheep tails he held in his hands were dyed red even more dazzlingly under the bonfire.
