Chapter 17 The Secret Book of the Old Days

Anvis frowned. He had no impression of this book. The author was probably not even remotely famous.

How did such a book end up in the family library?

Could it be that its material has high collection value?

While speculating slightly maliciously on the origin of the book, Anvis quickly read through it.

The material of the book pages is similar to parchment, with a light yellow color unique to old books. The internal text is also written in light silver high elf script.

The first half is composed of several absurd high elf poems, while the second half is composed of some somewhat abstract simple illustrations, which seem to be landscapes that the author randomly painted.

Based on the writing style of these poems, Anvis judged that the author of this book, Hill, should have lived around the middle to late Golden Age.

Judging from the rare and loose structure of the book, which consists of the main text in the first half, illustrations in the second half, and even a few empty pages at the end, it is likely that it was just a casual work similar to a notepad.

However, Anvis noticed that the font on the last page of the long poem's text was a little blurry, and the page itself was slightly black.

"Without magic power fluctuation, the content is worthless."

After flipping through it, Anvis frowned slightly, stared at the dark green cover, and unconsciously rubbed his chin.

Once I got it in my hands, that strange feeling of intimacy became clearer, but that didn't end there.

He flipped through it again without giving up, and carefully checked the slightly blackened page, but still found nothing.

Anvis gave up studying the content of the book, put his index and middle fingers together, and carefully stroked the surface of the book, feeling the texture of the cover. He tapped it twice from time to time to listen to the feedback.

Then, he put his nose up and carefully smelled the smell on the surface of the material.

After hesitating for a while, he felt the taste with the tip of his tongue.

After checking for a long time, Anvis was somewhat surprised to find that the material making up the cover of the book did not belong to any material he had ever known!

This is a very rare situation. You must know that little Anvis held the title of Magister in his previous life.

A material that even he didn't understand, its rarity can be imagined.

Anvis fell into deep thought, and he vaguely understood that the next step should be to use spiritual power to connect to this book.

However, this book gave him a really weird feeling. He was not a player who could be resurrected now, so he had to consider the risks of doing so.

………

"That's it, so I hope to get your help."

In the study room of Yuelin Castle, the Duke sat behind his large black dragon blood wood writing desk, listening carefully to Anvis's story.

A peculiar and exquisite hourglass is placed in the corner of the writing desk, suspended in a transparent crystal prism above the base, with delicate silver sand glowing with blue stars falling like water, making a faint rustling sound.

After understanding the whole story, the Duke nodded approvingly, affirming that Anvis told him the whole story and asked him to help check whether there was any danger.

"You made the right choice, Avis! No matter how cautious you are with these mysterious items whose effects have not been identified, you can't be too cautious.

You must know that the probability of pie and trap is often equal.

You must remember that as the blood heir of my Olivendi family, never put yourself in a dangerous situation at any time!"

As he spoke, the Duke casually clicked on the table, and an ice-blue miniature magic circle flashed under his finger. A few seconds later, the upright figure of Butler Leonard appeared at the door.

"Your Excellency, what are your orders?"

"Go to the third section of the miscellaneous notes section of the large library and find a book called 'Hill's Poems' and bring it with you. This is the permission plate."

Taking out a silver metal plate engraved with the family crest, Duke Carrot handed it to Leonard.

In less than half a minute, Mr. Butler returned to the study, placed the book and nameplate on the table, and then quietly exited the room.

"Is it this book?"

"Yes, father."

No need to check carefully. When Leonard returned to the study for the second time, Avis felt that familiar feeling of intimacy.

There is no doubt that the source is the thick book on the table.

The Duke waved, and the dark green thick book automatically flew into his hands, and he began to read slowly with the sunlight shining into the room through the gorgeous arched window.

"Father, did you find anything?"

Anvis watched the Duke's movements quietly, with a little curiosity in his tone.

"Its material is a little special, and it seems to come from some kind of unusually ancient creature."

As he spoke, Duke Carrot released a trace of ninth-level spiritual power and penetrated the book.

But then, his originally relaxed face slowly turned serious, and a hint of solemnity flashed through his blue eyes.

The result was completely beyond his expectation. Under the powerful ninth-level mental power detection, there was no magic fluctuation or abnormal feedback from the book, as if it were an ordinary handicraft book.

"Nothing unusual? Interesting... Anvis, do you still have that sense of it now?"

Looking at the unchanged dark green books, the Duke's blue eyes gradually narrowed.

"Yes, father."

Avis glanced at the book in the Duke's hand with some longing and nodded in confirmation.

"Okay, then take it and use your mental power to connect it. If there is any problem, I will immediately cut off the connection. There is no need to worry about anything-"

No movement was seen from the Duke, and the thick dark green ancient book floated out of thin air from his palm and slowly floated towards Anvis.

Anvis took a deep breath, reached out to catch it, and used his spiritual power to connect with it.

In an instant, a strange change occurred.

Under Avis' gaze, the surface of the book gradually exuded a strange and ominous dark 'aura'.

The dark shadows flowed out from the light silver font on the cover like water, gradually spreading to all sides.

Soon, the original pale silver title was completely swallowed up, and the shadow turned into an amorphous dark mass, crawling and occupying the center of the cover.

On the back of the book, the original light silver warm sun symbol has now turned into a dark and scorching sun.

The surrounding sunlight became distorted and crazy, like countless struggling and dancing tentacles, giving people a weird and abominable feeling.

Along with the changes in the book, a strange whisper sounded in the depths of Avis's mind.

This sound made him feel a little dazed. It was definitely not any language he knew. He even suspected that the sound could not be produced by human vocal cords.

The surrounding environment gradually began to become distorted, and the light became slightly distorted and blurred.

The colors of various objects become strong and vivid, like an old photo with full contrast.

The originally weak and orderly rustling sound of the hourglass has become clear, disordered and crazy at some point. It is like some kind of messy and meaningless background noise coming from the depths of the deserted universe.

Anvis didn't notice the change in environment, and he turned the book back to the front for the second time.

At this time, the dark shadow mass seemed to have completely digested the original light silver text.

It twisted and deformed again, forming two slightly squirming words in pitch-black High Elf script in the place of the original book title.

"Old Secret Scriptures?①"

.

.

①: The original text is two High Elvish words connected together. The first word means: past; ancient; long time; the second one means secret; secret; hidden knowledge.
