On the evening of May 19th, Chen Cao and his party finally caught up with Master Zhi Mindu and Xie Xuan in Yuji County. Xie's servants booked a small inn, cleaned it and invited Du Gong and Yi Langjun to check in.
When Chen Caozhi arrived, Xie Xuangang had a fast meal with Zhi Mindu.
At this time, Xie Xuan was no longer a fan, but he still had the fragrance of agarwood. He was tall and tall, thin and straight, with slanted eyebrows. He was very heroic. When he saw Chen Caozhi, he said happily: "Brother Zizhong, hurry up."
Here we are." He then led Chen Caozhi to see Master Zhi Mindu. Xingzhe Lingyou had already gone to see Master Du and told him everything about going to Chenjiawu to invite Chen Caozhi to Xie's villa in Dongshan.
Chen Caozhi met with Master Zhimedu and thanked him for coming all the way to treat his mother's illness.
The shadows of two oil lamps were dim and yellow. The pale and old eminent monk Zhimidu sat cross-legged in the shadow of the lamp. He looked at Chen Caozhi with kind eyes and said: "Chen Tanyue hasn't eaten yet. Please go and eat first, and then I will meet Chen Tanyue again."
Narrative.”
Chen Caozhi went to have a vegetarian meal, took a quick bath, and then came to see Zhi Mindu, who was still sitting in the shadow of the lamp, seemingly motionless.
Chen Caozhi sat down next to Xie Xuan, and the old monk Zhi Mingdu said: "Chen Tanyue, this is because that is, this is without reason and that is not, there are twelve causes and conditions, how can we escape from the shackles of sentient beings?"
Chen Cao said: "My mother is overworked and worried."
Zhi Mindu smiled slightly: "Chen Tan is more of a temperamental person, but he doesn't know how to realize the 'truth'?"
Chen Cao said: "People in the world chant Prajna all day long without realizing their own nature. It is like saying that they are not full but only talking about empty words. They will not be able to see their nature for a thousand eons, and it will be of no benefit in the end."
Zhi Medu's head was slightly raised, and he chanted the Buddha's name together, saying, "How good! How good!" Then he asked, "What is self-nature prajna?"
Chen Cao said: "Only for now."
Zhi Mindu asked: "Since we are now, why can't I see you?"
Chen Cao said: "The master has my reasons, so he doesn't see you."
Zhi Mindu fell into deep thought. These are the quotes and questions from later generations of Zen masters. For those who have never been exposed to the theory of "True Suchness" in the "Tansu Sutra" and the theory of "self-grasping, self-image, no self-grasping, no self-image" in the Diamond Sutra.
When the old monk spoke of his admiration, he felt as if he had been enlightened. His long snow-white eyebrows trembled and he said: "Without you and me, can you see the Tao?"
Chen Cao's way: "Without you and me, who can see the way?"
The old monk Zhimeitu was a little confused. Only "selflessness" can be seen in order to see the true nature of Prajna. However, Chen Caozhi also said that if there is no "self", how can we see the true nature of Prajna? It seems that this "nothing"
"I" is not really "selfless", but to let go of the things I am attached to——
The old monk said with a smile: "It seems that Chen Tanyue can't let go either."
Chen Cao said: "Yes, Master Lao."
Zhi Mindu said: "Chen Tanyue has inspired me a lot, which is very good. Chen Tanyue should go back to his room to rest. He will leave early tomorrow morning."
Chen Caozhi and Xie Xuan exited Master Zhi Mindu's guest room and saw that the moonlight was very beautiful. Xie Xuan said: "Brother Zizhong, how about you and I taking a walk in the backyard?"
Chen Caozhi then followed Xie Xuan to the backyard of the inn. There were several elm trees in the backyard, with strings of golden elm trees hanging down, giving off a slightly bitter fragrance.
Xie Xuan first asked Chen's mother about Li's condition, comforted Chen Caozhi for a few words, and then asked: "Who did Brother Zizhong see at Dongshan Villa?"
Chen Cao said: "I hurriedly paid a visit to Duke Anshi, and then met Brother Yingtai at Cao'e Pavilion."
Xie Xuan suddenly turned his head, stared at Chen Caozhi, and asked slowly: "Are you still calling me brother Yingtai?"
Chen Cao said: "Yes, I still think it is more appropriate to call me Brother Yingtai. My sister also thinks so."
Xie Xuan laughed and asked, "When did Brother Zizhong find out my sister's identity? My sister mentioned that she had been to Chenjiawu. I am the only one who knows about this. My third uncle dare not let her know."
Chen Cao said: "I didn't know until I arrived at Dongshan Villa. The villa's diary said that Duke Du was accompanied by Ye Langjun to Qiantang. Although I know little about it, I didn't know who Ye Langjun was. It suddenly dawned on me."
Xie Xuan laughed and said: "It turns out that the plan was revealed. Haha, my sister dressed up as a man and behaved like a man. In March in Wu County, no one knew she was a woman. If it hadn't been for the illness of the royal family this time, brother Zizhong probably wouldn't have.
You will know she is a woman."
Chen Caozhi smiled and said nothing.
Xie Xuan asked: "Brother Zizhong saw Wang Ningzhi in Dongshan. Is Wang Hui's brother?"
Chen Cao said: "Come and go in a hurry, but you can't help but see."
Xie Xuan looked at Chen Caozhi and said: "The Wang brothers are here to propose to my sister. Let my sister choose between the two brothers——"
Chen Caozhi said calmly: "Both the Wang brothers are famous, so it's hard to choose between them."
Xie Xuandao: "After the Wang brothers went to Chenjiawu to listen to brother Zizhong's recorder music, they were very impressed and said that the person who gave the flute to King Huanye was indeed worthy of his name. My third uncle was also eager to hear it -
—”
Having said this, Xie Xuan stood still, bowed to Chen Cao and said: "Xie Xuan of Chen County, also known as Youdu, met brother Zizhong and we became friends from then on."
Chen Caozhi returned the favor, Xie Xuan and Xie Xuan were born in the same year and month, and Xie Xuan was eleven days younger than Chen Caozhi. They held hands and looked at each other with a knowing smile.
Chen Caozhi looked at the future founder of the Beifu Army and the commander-in-chief of the Battle of Feishui. At this time, his face was still childish, he had not put on powder, and his heroic spirit was displayed. This was a person he must make friends with.
Xie Xuan was still full of arrogance when he spoke: "Like my sister, I only value talents regardless of family status. However, there are indeed few outstanding talents from poor families. It is rare for a child to respect a brother. I respect a child to respect a brother, but not a poor family."
Chen Cao said: "A poor family does not lack talents, but lacks a place to display their talents."
Xie Xuandao: "Brother Zizhong stands out, doesn't he? If you are really talented, no matter whether you are from a noble family or from a humble family, you will always be known to the world."
Chen Cao thought: "It is a hundred times more difficult for a child from a poor family to get ahead than for a child from a noble family."
Xie Xuan said with great interest: "I never thought that Brother Zichong also studied Buddhism, and I admire him very much! If Brother Zichong is interested, I would like to discuss Buddhism with him. In the past, my sister was in front of me, so I couldn't get in the way.
Alas, having a strong sister can make her very depressed sometimes."
Chen Caozhi laughed, and couldn't bear to dampen Xie Xuan's interest, so he started a debate under the moon on the subject of "The Book of Changes": "The sages established religions with Shinto, and the world obeyed them." Without his sister Xie Daoyun present, Xie Xuan had the opportunity to fully demonstrate his eloquence.
, Sure enough, he is knowledgeable and alert, but compared to Xie Daoyun, he is just a little less sharp.
The two of them didn't go back to their guest rooms to rest until the moon came to their peak.
Early the next morning, three bullock carts left Yuji County and drove towards Qiantang. They arrived at Chenjiawu at noon. Chen Caozhi set off for Dongshan in Kuaiji on May 16th. Today is May 20th, which is exactly five days before and after.
, although the journey was hard, I successfully invited Master Zhimindu, and I felt relieved and did not feel tired.
Chen's mother, Mrs. Li, was very happy to see the famous Duke Du come to Chenjiawu. She didn't know that her son had asked Duke Du to treat her.
Master Zhi Mindu looked at Chen's mother Li's face and lips and asked, "Does Nv Tan Yue often suffer from heart palpitations and insomnia?"
Chen Caozhi said on the side: "Mother, Mr. Du is proficient in Buddhism and has great medical skills. If my mother suffers from insomnia and palpitations, please ask Mr. Du for compassionate diagnosis and treatment."
The old monk Zhi Mingdu felt Chen's mother Li's pulse for a long time and said: "It doesn't matter, it doesn't matter. The more you can rest, don't overwork yourself." Then he came to Chen Cao's study, where Xie Xuan was watching Zong Zhihe with great interest.
Runer writes.
Zhi Mindu did not enter the study, but said to Chen Cao: "Find a quiet place, I want to have a detailed discussion with Chen Tan Yue."
When Chen Cao heard this, his heart immediately lifted, and he led Zhi Mindu to his late brother Chen Qingzhi's study to sit down. Xiao Chan served tea and stood aside. Chen Caozhi asked Xiao Chan to go out first and looked at him solemnly.
I paid tribute to the old monk and hoped that he would say auspicious words.
Zhi Mindu asked: "Chen Tanyue, your family's illness seems to have been going on for a long time, right?"
Chen Caozhi said: "I only got the disease last year. I was so dizzy that I couldn't sit still, so Mr. Ge Zhichuan prescribed a prescription. After taking it, it was effective at first, but it has failed since this year."
Zhi Mindu looked at the "Sheng Di Huang" prescription given by Ge Hong, nodded and said, "Ge Zhichuan knows about your father's illness, didn't he tell you anything?"
Chen Cao felt anxious and said, "Master Ge told me not to go out after May this year."
Zhi Mindu sighed and said: "Yes, Ge Zhichuan's medical skills are superior to mine, and I can't do anything about the diseases that he has no control over."
Chen Caozhi's throat suddenly became dry and his voice was astringent: "Please make it clear, Mr. Du."
Zhi Mindu said: "Your mother's illness is innate. People with this kind of heart disease are not able to have children. They can easily die prematurely due to rapid heartbeat during childbirth. However, your mother persevered and survived. It is really a miracle -
—”
In midsummer, in May, Chen Caozhi's hands and feet were cold. He fully understood what Du Gong said. The mother had congenital heart disease. Congenital heart disease cannot give birth to children. This does not mean that the disease is hereditary, but that the child was born as Du Gong said.
Shi Jiyi died of a tachycardia, but her mother gave birth to two sons safely——
Chen Caozhi remembered that Aunt Ying once said that his mother fainted when she gave birth to him, but she was able to wake up after receiving the talisman water from Daoist Du.
Chen Caozhi choked up and said: "Du Gong, is there anything else we can think of?"
The old monk expressed his condolences: "Chen Tanyue must not be sad. Your daughter has a congenital disease but you can live beyond the age of knowing your destiny. Why can't you continue to live? The old monk prescribed a prescription and asked your daughter to decoct it every day and take care of her.
, which may prolong life.”
Chen Caozhi nodded repeatedly: "What Mr. Du said is absolutely true, my mother will definitely live a long life." Then he asked: "Do you still want to take Mr. Zhikawa's Shengdihuang Pills?"
Zhi Mindu said: "Since it is no longer effective, don't take it anymore."
Chen Caozhi said again: "Before I invite Duke Du, I sent someone to Wu County to ask for the famous doctor Yang Quan. He will be here soon. I ask Duke Du not to face any crime."
Zhi Mingdu did not feel dissatisfied at all, and said: "It's okay to let Yang Quan come and treat me. Yang Quan specializes in medicine and has a wider range of experience. We don't know if he may have other strange prescriptions. But before Yang Quan prescribes the prescription, you can treat me."
Take out this recipe and let him consider it together."
