5. The sun rises as usual

Chenjiawu's circular earthen fortress is built against a mountain. The mountain is Jiuyao Mountain. Jiuyao Mountain was named by Chen Cao's father, Chen Su. It is said that under the moonlight, the peaks are like clusters, like the sun, moon and stars, so it is named Jiuyao Mountain.

.

Jiuyao Mountain is not high, but the four-mile mountain road climbing from the bottom of the mountain to the peak made Chen Caozhi breathless. It also rained last night, so the mountain road was slippery. He almost slipped several times, but along the way there were lush forests, bamboos, and wild flowers.

The vines and the melodious chirping of mountain birds make people feel relaxed and happy. There is really not a single mountain in the surrounding West Lake that is not beautiful.

But the physical fatigue was still very real. After climbing to the top of the mountain, Chen Caozhi was almost too tired to straighten up. His legs were shaking. He quickly found a rock to sit and rest. His body was really thin and he had to work hard.

.

Laifu's youngest son, Laide, is one year older than Chen Caozhi. He has thick eyebrows and big eyes. He is slightly shorter than Chen Caozhi, but has thick legs and arms. He is very strong. Laide was herding cattle at the foot of Jiuyao Mountain early in the morning. He saw the young master's interest.

Bobo wanted to climb a mountain to keep fit, so he followed him all the way.

Chen Caozhi was envious when he saw Laide not sweating or panting, and walking on the rugged mountain road as if on flat ground, and asked: "Laide, do you know how to do martial arts?"

Lai De scratched his head and said, "Lai De only knows how to herd cattle and dig in the ground, but he doesn't know how to do martial arts."

Chen Caozhi smiled "Hey" and asked again: "Are there any reclusive masters around here who are good at martial arts or Wu Qin Xi?"

Laide responded: "Yes." He climbed up a big stone on the top of the mountain, looked northward, and pointed at the vast Jinniu Lake in the distance: "There is an old immortal on Baoshi Mountain in the north of the lake, who can refine the elixir of immortality.

, the old immortal can soar into the clouds and ride on the mist, which is very powerful."

Chen Caozhi asked: "Have you seen it with your own eyes?"

Laide shook his head and said: "That's not true, but that's what the nearby villagers say. There are still people who want to ask the old god to accept them as their disciples, but they knelt for three days and three nights and the old god paid no attention to them. They just sat there and took the elixir -

"

Chen Caozhi laughed loudly, stood up, and looked at the West Lake in the north of the mountain. He didn't know who the old immortal that Laide was talking about was. He should be a practitioner of Tianshi Tao. From Jiuyao Mountain, you have to bypass the West Lake to reach Baoshi.

The mountain is almost twenty miles away. After a while, when he has strengthened his legs, he will ask Laide to go with him to visit the old immortal, who may be a famous historical figure.

To the north of Jiuyao Mountain is the West Lake, and to the south to Yuhuang Mountain is a large area of fields, about more than 3,000 acres. These are all farmlands granted by the Chen family of Qiantang. The long acres are separated by thin ridges, and the mountains and fields are bordered.

There are more than twenty households scattered everywhere, all of them are tenants who rent the Chen family's land.

Lai Dehan smiled and said: "Look, little lord, our West Building occupies more than half of this large field. Haha, it looks really exciting!"

Chen Caozhi made a virtual circle in the air with his right hand and said with a smile: "It would be great if all the areas around Jinniu Lake belong to our West Tower."

Lai De remembered something he heard from his parents last night when they were muttering, and then asked: "My lord, I heard that Bei Tower wants to occupy our West Tower's land, is it true?"

Chen Cao said: "No matter what, no one can take over the fields in our west building."

Lai De clenched his two big fists and said in a rough voice: "Yes, I will fight with anyone who dares to come and occupy me!" Lai De grew up in Chenjiawu since he was a child, and has long regarded the Chen family in Xilou as his own.

In our home, we share joy, anger, sorrow, life and death.

The mountain breeze blows, the bamboo trees rustle, and the West Lake among the shadows of the mountains, rocks and trees seems to be within reach, while in the eastern sky, there are thousands of rays of light, and a red sun is about to burst out.

Lai De saw that Chen Caozhi was silent, so he stood silently aside. The first ray of sunlight in the morning shone at this moment, and seemed to shine directly into Chen Caozhi's deep eyes. In an instant, this handsome young man was like a pearl reflected in a jade.

Shining like the sun, Laide's eyes were dazzled, and then he heard Chen Caozhi say softly:

"The Sun Also Rises."

In the next few days, Chen Caozhi insisted on climbing Jiuyao Mountain twice in the early morning and at dusk. Although his calf and stomach were sore, it was nothing to him as a veteran traveler. He knew that the first few days were a bit difficult, but it would get better later.

, the body will gradually become stronger.

Every morning, Chen Caozhi read a chapter of Zheng Xuan's "Mao Shi Jian", then practiced calligraphy with his wrist hanging for half an hour. In the afternoon, he read Ma Rong's "The Analects of Confucius" and practiced calligraphy for another half hour, starting with his left hand.

, the back right hand, the left hand "Declaration Table", the right hand "Zhang Hansi Yu Tie", "Zhang Han Si Yu Tie" cannot be copied, only from memory.

When Chen Caozhi was studying and practicing calligraphy, his pair of beautiful nephew and niece sat obediently on the edge of the reed mat, staring at this handsome young uncle with two pairs of black and white eyes, looking very impressed, especially

When Chen Caozhi was practicing calligraphy, the handwriting of his left and right hands was different. The two little guys' eyes widened and their little mouths "clicked" softly to express their admiration.

Run'er was very smart. No one had taught her how to read. It was when her grandmother taught her brother Chen Zongzhi how to read. She leaned on her grandmother's arms and watched and listened quietly. As long as Zongzhi knew the words, she could also recognize them.

The enlightenment reading for the two of them turned out to be "The Analects of Confucius". Just read the words correctly. It doesn't matter if you don't understand the meaning. I will explain it in a few years.

What’s funny is that because Runer was sitting opposite Zongzhi, Zongzhi took the scroll and read it word by word as his grandmother taught him. Runer was reading from the opposite side and recognized the words, but he read them all upside down. Later,

It took a lot of effort to correct it.

When Zongzhi was eight years old and Run'er was six years old, they could already recognize all the words in the Analects, but they didn't understand the meaning of the book at all, so Chen Caozhi explained its meaning to them.

During the Wei and Jin Dynasties, official education declined and private education prevailed, and young people relied on their fathers and elders for enlightenment. This is the origin of the so-called family education. Chen Caozhi's "The Analects" was taught by his brother Chen Qingzhi. Now he teaches it to his nephews, nieces,

Of course, Chen Caozhi now understands the Analects more clearly than his brother Chen Qingzhi, and his explanations are more profound and simple.

Mrs. Chen's mother, Mrs. Li, stood outside the window and listened to the sound of her son and two grandsons reading in the study. Her eyes became moist. With such good children and grandsons who are eager to learn, why should I, Mr. Chen, in the west building, be unhappy?

What makes Chen Caozhi slightly troubled is that there are too few books. Now he is thirsty for knowledge, but he suffers from having no books to read. Books in this era are very precious, not to mention the bamboo slips in the past, including silk books and paper books.

They are all quite rare, and if you have money, you have nowhere to buy them, so you have to borrow them and copy them by hand. The hundreds of volumes of "Mao's Poems and Notes" and "Analects of Confucius" in Chen Caozhi's study were copied by Chen Su himself back then -

People in this era seek to learn more, not to read more, and have few opportunities to read widely. Therefore, as long as you are proficient in one or two classics, you can gain a foothold in the scholarly community. Chen Caozhi has now compiled these two classics annotated by Zheng Xuan and Ma Rong.

He could memorize it backwards and forwards, and the principles were basically clear, but Chen Caozhi was never satisfied with this, because the Analects alone had dozens of commentaries since the Qin and Han dynasties, searching for mystical hooks and expressing their own opinions. However, people in the Wei and Jin Dynasties preferred to use metaphysics to explain Confucian classics.

The Analects of Confucius written by He Yan, a master of metaphysics, and The Analects of Confucius written by Wang Bi, the genius young man who founded Zhengshi Xuanfeng, all interpret the Analects from the thoughts of Lao and Zhuang. Chen Caozhi wanted to be accepted and appreciated by the high-ranking gentry.

, it is not enough to just study Han Confucian classics, you must study the annotations of He Yan and Wang Bi. Chen Caozhi's goal is to have both Xuan and Confucianism.

But there are no books to read, so what can I do?
