Twenty-seven, one person attains the Tao

In midsummer, Chenjiawu, which is surrounded by mountains and rivers, is refreshing and pleasant. Even in the dog days of summer, there is no feeling of scorching heat.

Jiuyao Mountain is covered with lush green forests, which are deep and beautiful. The most gratifying thing is that it is easily accessible. Except for days with strong wind and rain, Chen Caozhi would climb Jiuyao Mountain every morning and dusk, blowing his wind and looking far away, his mind wandering.

, Mingsheng Lake, which is not far away, is like a huge natural jade inlaid in the land of Qiantang. It is close to the eyes but far away in the horizon. It is frank and clear and hidden by clouds. It is like a peerless beauty like hibiscus emerging from clear water, covered with light gauze.

Graceful and light, the stunning appearance can only be viewed from a distance but not played with -

Chen Caozhi was a little surprised that his association with West Lake was just a beautiful lake. Why did he feel this way?

The people who followed Chen Cao up the mountain every day were Lai De and Ran Sheng. Wherever Chen Cao was there, they were there.

Chen's mother, Mrs. Li, had recovered from dizziness and asked Chen Caozhi to accompany her to Baoshi Mountain to express her gratitude to the old immortal.

Because of Ge Hong's intervention, Wang Deyi promised that as long as he was the magistrate of Qiantang County, he would continue to let the Qiantang Chen family have a shelter, unless the state and county wanted to conduct a major registration inspection, which was another matter.

Laifu's family cried with joy. Although County Magistrate Wang may be transferred to another county next year, at least the family will no longer have to worry about their lives in the next year. Moreover, Laifu firmly believes that the young man will definitely become a decent official.

, can enjoy the right of shelter in a grand manner, he Laifu and his family want to live in Chenjiawu forever.

Every morning, Chen Caozhi recited Confucian classics such as "The Book of Songs", "Shangshu" and "Zuo Zhuan". He already knew the "Analects of Confucius" by heart and did not need to read it again. The Confucian master Ma Rong and the metaphysical genius Wang Bi annotated and developed the "Analects of Confucius".

He was also familiar with it. Last time he asked his sister-in-law Ding Youwei for advice from Wang Bi about the subtle relationship between "Tao" and "Wu", "Xing" and "Ti". Although Ding Youwei was smart, he was not good at reasoning and was difficult to teach.

Now that Chen Caozhi has the guidance of Ge Hong, a great scholar who converted from Confucianism to Taoism, all these problems can be easily solved. The myriad of things can be summed up in one point, which is the realm of the saint proposed by Wang Bi in "The Analects of Confucius" - "having feelings but not being tired"

”.

"Being affectionate but not tired" is this sentence. The wonderful and affectionate, free and natural style of the Wei and Jin Dynasties emerged, and the foundation of the metaphysics of the Wei and Jin Dynasties was established.

In addition to studying Confucianism in the morning, Chen Caozhi also practiced calligraphy for half an hour. Chen Caozhi no longer copied the rather distorted "Declaration Form" that his brother Chen Qingzhi copied over and over again. He now used Huan Yi's scroll

The calligraphy of Dongxiao Secret Book was used as an object of speculation. Combined with the "Preface to the Lanting Collection" that he had copied in his previous life, he felt that the regular script on his left hand had made great progress. As for the regular script on his right hand, Chen Caozhi still copied Ouyang Xun's "Zhang Han Si Yu Tie" from memory -

"Zhang Han Si Yu Tie" is a biography written by Ouyang Xun for Zhang Han and Zhang Jiying, a famous scholar in the Western Jin Dynasty. Zhang Han was talented and open-minded. People at the time compared him to Ruan Ji, one of the "Seven Sages in the Bamboo Grove", and was also known as "Jiangdong Infantry". Zhang Ji was in Luoyang.

When the official saw the autumn wind blowing, he thought about the garden vegetables, water shield soup and seabass clams in his hometown of Wu County. He sighed: "Life is expensive and comfortable, how can you travel thousands of miles to invite famous nobles?" Then he ordered to drive back -

Although Ouyang Xun was hundreds of years later than the Eastern Jin Dynasty, this calligraphy post has a very Jin style, which complements the meaning of the words in the post. It is only ten lines and less than a hundred words, and the unique detached and affectionate style of the Wei and Jin people is vivid.

On paper, later generations praised Ouyang Xun's "Zhang Hansi's Perch Post" as the seventh running script. However, for Chen Caozhi, his liking for this post was second only to Wang Xizhi's "Preface to the Lanting Collection". He came across this post in his previous life.

I have shown considerable skill in posting, and I have been practicing diligently every day in this life. However, more than two months have passed, but I have made little progress. Because I don’t have the original post to compare with, sometimes I feel that my handwriting in regular script on my right hand is getting worse.

Chen Caozhi is not in a hurry. He has experience of this. It is like Go. Before the long game, there will be a period of time where you will see who loses and who is in an embarrassing situation. But after this period, one day you will suddenly discover your own chess ability. As he progressed, all his opponents who were at the same level as him were defeated one by one; it was like climbing a dangerous mountain on foot, with a steep mountain road and a heavy backpack. He climbed to the top of the mountain dripping with sweat, and suddenly looked back to see thousands of peaks lined up, magnificent and picturesque - —

All it takes is hard work and persistence.

Every afternoon, in addition to half an hour of calligraphy practice, Chen Caozhi mainly studied Wang Bi's "Zhouyi Commentary" and "Laozi Zhilue", as well as Guo Xiang's "Zhuangzi Commentary" borrowed from Ge Hong. I read all the books together, read one paragraph every day, refer to each other, carefully write down reading notes, write down the difficult points one by one, and wait to go to Chuyang Taoist Temple to ask Ge Hong for advice.

At night, Chen Caozhi was copying books. The books were borrowed from Ge Hong. He copied roll after roll of fine Zuo Bo paper. If he were a child from a poor family, he would not be able to afford the money to buy the paper. Chen Caozhi copied books in regular script quickly and well. After each volume he copied, he personally used silk thread and sharp drill to bind a stack of papers full of ink characters into the appearance of later generations of books. This is the Qiantang Chen family's Now that they have a collection of books, Zongzhi and Runer will no longer have to worry about having no books to read.

When Chen Caozhi was binding the books, Xiaochan and Qingzhi were helping him. The two maids praised Caozhi for his cleverness and neatness in everything he did.

Every four days, Chen Caozhi took Laifu and Ran Sheng and walked twenty miles to the balcony of Ge Lingchu to ask Ge Hong for advice on reading problems. He also returned the books he borrowed the day before and borrowed another. Ge Hong always returned them. When I asked Chen Caozhi about this book, I often found that Chen Caozhi had already memorized the book.

Ding Youwei once said that being Chen Caozhi's teacher was a happy thing, and Ge Hong was the same way. The questions in the book that Chen Caozhi asked were not general questions. Confucian and Taoist people like Ge Hong needed to be energetic to answer them. For Ge Hong, who spent his whole life pursuing knowledge and truth, he naturally enjoyed it and felt refreshed. As a student, Chen Caozhi was able to understand everything and made a loud noise, which made Ge Hong, as a teacher, also Feel benefited.

One afternoon in mid-June, Ge Hong and Chen Caozhi were sitting under the small window next to Sanqing Hall. After a debate, Ge Hong expressed his appreciation for his talent and said: "Cao Zhi, with your hard work, I have learned a lot." , It is not difficult to understand the two major schools of Confucianism and Xuanxuan. It is just that you are born in a humble background. This is your destiny. If you want to rule the country and bring peace to the world with your own knowledge, you are afraid of obstacles at every step and great resistance. High positions and prominent positions are controlled by aristocratic families. How can you seek political power if you are not in your position? According to the old way, you might as well abandon the idea of worldly fame and fame, follow me to refine elixirs and practice Taoism, write books and establish theories, hide the famous mountains and pass them on to future generations, which is also an immortal thing, the sage said. The superior ones establish virtue, the middle ones establish words, and the inferior ones achieve meritorious service.' Worldly achievements are the lowest quality, but writing immortal books means virtue is also included in them - why should we do this?"

Chen Caozhi still clearly remembers the scene that happened in front of the gate of Chenjiawu a month ago. Those two low-grade subordinates dared to bully the door. The person behind the scenes was only a ninth-grade chief clerk. So in this world, fame We really have to pursue power. How could he ignore the crisis in his family and just seek to be alone and follow Ge Hong to practice Taoism? To put it bluntly, he doesn't believe in cultivating immortals. Even if immortals really exist, then "one person can achieve Taoism, and chickens and dogs can ascend to heaven." Just fine.

Chen Caozhi did not directly answer Ge Hong's earnest question, but asked with a smile: "Cao Zhi has been under Master Ge's disciples for many days and has benefited a lot. Can't he still be regarded as Master Ge's disciple?"

Ge Hong flicked his tail and laughed loudly. He understood Chen Caozhi's intention and said: "Confucians believe in fate, Taoists change fate. Since Cao Zhi is my disciple, he must have changed his fate. Let me look at you, a descendant of a poor family. How to change your destiny?”

The next five days, Chen Caozhi went to Chuyang Taoist Temple again, and took the ceremony of becoming a disciple. He officially became Ge Hong as his disciple. Of course, becoming a disciple did not mean that he would follow Ge Hong into the mountains to practice Taoism. Ge Hong also Chen Caozhi was not required to read the Taoist Scriptures.

That day, in addition to Lai De and Ran Sheng, the one-armed Jing Nu who followed Chen Cao Zhi to Geling was the one-armed Jing Nu. On the way back, the taciturn Jing Nu suddenly stopped and knelt in front of Chen Cao Zhi, kowtowed and asked for Chen Cao's free time. He taught Ran Sheng how to read and write, but the young man Ran Sheng stood aside and was at a loss.

Chen Caozhi helped Jing Nu up and said, "Uncle Jing, the sage said, 'There is no distinction between teachings.' As long as Ran Sheng is willing to learn, I will teach him."

Ran Sheng shouted: "Uncle Jing, I don't know how to read. In my opinion, all the characters are the same and I can't tell them apart."

Jing Nu couldn't kneel to Ran Sheng again, so Ran Sheng had no choice but to agree to learn to read, muttering in a low voice: "It will be the registration inspection in July soon. We are homeless refugees and have to run away again, so why should we learn to read!" "
