Chapter 36 Hell's Kitchen

In fact, when Leo heard the gang leader who died under Bucky's iron fist say that the most famous gang boss in the United States was named Kingpin, Leo was very shocked in his heart.

It seems that this Marvel universe is not a simple movie universe, but a new parallel universe that mixes various elements.

Now that there is Kingpin, there could be all kinds of other superheroes and super criminals.

Leo is also relatively familiar with the movie universe, but when it comes to other elements, he is a little out of his depth.

But just because of this, the world is more exciting. Isn’t it?

The destination that Leo was driving to at this time was an area located on the West Bank of Manhattan in New York City. Its official administrative district is called Clinton, and its nickname is Midwest City, but Leo prefers to call it Hell's Kitchen.

When it was evening, Leo had already driven Bucky to the edge of Hell's Kitchen.

Gulu...

Bucky's stomach suddenly rumbled, and he smiled awkwardly and said:

"Leo, it's getting late, what are our next plans?"

"If you want to eat, just say so. Why are you so nagging?"

Bucky smiled awkwardly again and rubbed his belly. Leo glanced at Bucky and said,

"Let's find a place to live first, settle down, and then find a place to eat. Actually, I'm hungry too!"

After driving around Hell's Kitchen several times, Leo finally found a decent-looking hotel called Harvest Hotel.

Moreover, the four words "Harvest Hotel" are actually in Chinese.

Leo parked the car in the parking space next to the street on the right side of the hotel, unbuckled his seat belt, and said to Bucky:

“Bucky, get off the car, we’ll stay here tonight.”

After Bucky unbuckled his seat belt, he pointed to the back of the car with his thumb and asked:

“What to do with those things in the trunk? Take them to the hotel or put them in the car??”

The trunk contained Leo's lightly repaired power arm VI and some guns and ammunition, as well as valuables such as gold, silver and jewelry that they had robbed from Black Stick along the way.

"Let's put it in the car first. It's not necessarily safe in a hotel. Besides, it's not convenient to take these things out."

Bucky nodded and followed Leo out of the car. After he saw the surrounding environment clearly and the Traditional Chinese characters on the entire street, he asked:

"Leo, this looks like a Chinatown! Judging from your appearance, you are Asian. Are you Chinese?"

"I used to maintain your robotic arm for you at the base for so long, but you don't know about my past?"

"My mind used to be so groggy that I couldn't remember anything clearly except for some very important things I did. You had no sense of existence before, so how could I possibly remember your past!"

Leo didn't think Bucky was lying, and he felt that Bucky had no reason to lie to him. However, Leo still kept it in mind and said:

"I am considered a Chinese. But I don't want to talk about the past. Don't ask about it in the future. Let's start a new life again."

Seeing that Leo was unwilling to talk, Bucky thought for a moment and realized that he might be talking too much, so he continued:

"Leo, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to pry into your secret. I just asked too much. You rescued me. I have absolutely no bad intentions towards you."

"Ahem...Bucky, it's okay. You don't need to apologize. I'm embarrassed if you say that."

Leo looked at Bucky's frank look, smiled awkwardly, touched his nose and said,

"Let's stop standing next to the car and quickly go to the hotel to ask if there are any rooms. After checking in, let's go to eat quickly. I've only eaten some bread since driving in the morning, and I'm very hungry.

."

Bucky's stomach rumbled just right again, Leo laughed, and led Bucky towards the door of the hotel.

But before they could enter the hotel door, someone blocked their way.

"Two gentlemen, I have been observing you for a long time just now. Are you two locals?"

Leo didn't answer in a hurry, but took a careful look at the girl in front of him. She looked very young, just about the age of graduating from college.

She is 1.65 meters tall, carries a backpack, has long hair tied behind her waist, and has freckles on her face. But the freckles not only do not affect her beauty, but add a bit of charm.

Especially her eyes, which are full of vitality and liveliness, as if she is very curious about everything.

But what is even more surprising is that Leo and Bucky are both people with keen senses, and the girl in front of them said that she had been looking at them from a distance for a long time, but neither of them noticed.

Leo remained vigilant and replied:

"Hello, beautiful lady. We are not locals. My friend and I happened to come here. We are tired from the journey and want to find a place to rest. This hotel looks pretty good and I just want to spend the night here."

"Aha? This hotel looks nice?! Is it the shabby door that attracts you, or the drafty windows??

Let me tell you the truth, gentlemen. This is Midwest City, the largest slum in New York, and a notoriously chaotic place.

If you two gentlemen don't want to wake up tomorrow and find that you are wearing only a pair of underwear, you should leave here as soon as possible and find another place to live."

Of course Leo knew what kind of environment Hell's Kitchen was, but he was more concerned about who the girl in front of him was. Therefore, he was racking his brains to remember and forgot to answer what the girl in front of him said.

Bucky didn't even respond. Although he was like a chatterbox when facing Leo, he was still as cold as an iceberg when dealing with strangers.

Seeing that both of them remained silent, the girl thought that neither of them believed her words, so she added fuel to the fire and lowered her voice:

"Actually, there is another more terrifying name here, called Hell's Kitchen, where a group of devil-like and terrifying people live."

At this time, Bucky saw that Leo still didn't speak, so he couldn't help but asked coldly:

"Then why are you here? Who are you??"

Seeing that someone finally spoke to her, the girl stood up straight happily, took out a business card and handed it to Bucky:

"My name is Mary Jane, and I am an intern reporter at the Daily Bugle. This is my business card. Nice to meet you two."

Before Bucky reached out to catch the business card, Leo took it first, then stretched out his hand and said enthusiastically:

"My name is Leo Irvine, and next to me is my friend. His name is Barnes. Miss Jane, nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you too, Mr. Erwin."

Mary Jane also shook Leo's hand warmly, then turned around and nodded to Bucky with a smile. Then Bucky squeezed out a smile in response.

Leo then asked:

"Miss Jane, judging from your tone, you are probably not a native of this place called Hell's Kitchen, right? Then what are you doing here?"

"I came here to collect and sort out the daily life of ordinary people in Central and Western City, and prepare a report. It's very chaotic here, and not many people dare to come here for interviews.

And recently, the employment environment is not good and the competition is fierce. So...you know...I don't want to come either, I'm very helpless!"

Mary Jane spread her hands and said that she had a reason to come.

And Leo did know that this was actually her adventurous gene. But Leo didn't point it out and continued to ask:

"Since this place is so chaotic, my friend and I are going to change our lives. But we are not familiar with the place and don't know where to live economically.

Miss Jane, do you have any good places to recommend?"

Mary Jane was about to answer when suddenly the pager in her pocket rang.

She took out the pager and looked at it, then looked at her watch. She first made an apology gesture to Leo and the two, and then quickly ran to the phone booth not far away and made a call.

"Hi, Peter, I'm Mary. Sorry, I was busy with other things and forgot the time for the graduation party. I'll rush there now, there should be enough time!"

Leo's hearing was also strengthened a lot by the super serum, so he could clearly hear Mary Jane's words not far away.

Mary Jane chatted briefly on the phone for a few more words, then she ran back to Leo and said anxiously:

"Mr. Li, if you drive south along this road to the end, you will be out of Central and West City. It is safer there. Just find a decent place to live.

I have something urgent to do, so I’ll leave first.”

After saying that, Mary Jane ran to the side of the road anxiously and drove away in her blue pickup truck.

Leo watched her leave, looked at the business card in his hand, and nodded with satisfaction. Then he walked towards the door of the Harvest Hotel, saying as he walked:

"Bucky, let's go. After we finish checking in at the Harvest Hotel, we can go have dinner."

Bucky followed and asked in confusion:

"Leo, didn't Miss Jian just say that this place is too messy and suggested that we not live here in order to avoid trouble?"

Leo stopped, turned around and asked:

"Bucky, are we afraid of trouble?"

Bucky was stunned for a moment, then realized and smiled:

"I wish there was more trouble!"
