Chapter 523 Steve and Peggy

We had dinner at a Chinese restaurant that Leo and others frequented.

In addition to Leo and Natasha, Bucky, Steve and Lorena were also dining here.

Several people were sitting in the quiet box at the end, and the food was delivered to the table by the restaurant owner himself, looking respectful and excited.

After eating and drinking, Leo looked at Captain America: "Steve, you are almost familiar with this era. What are your plans next?"

Steve understood what Leo meant. A few days ago, Bucky had already replaced Leo and extended an olive branch to Steve, inviting him to join the Marvel Legion.

Steve understood better that he didn't have many choices, only three.

The first is to agree to Leo's invitation, join the Marvel Legion, and start a different life.

The second option is to return to the U.S. military and continue to serve the country.

The third way is to remain anonymous and live a new life as if your past is dead.

Without thinking, Steve filtered out the third option, which was not the life he wanted.

As for whether to choose the first or the second option, Steve was actually hesitant.

"Leo, I can't answer this question for the time being," Steve said honestly, "but it will be soon. I will tell you my choice tomorrow night."

"Oh?" Leo smiled, "Have you made up your mind to meet Peggy Carter?"

Steve nodded slowly: "Although she has a new life of her own, since she is still alive when I come back... I have to see her."

"Good luck!"

"Thanks."

After the meal was finished, several people left the restaurant.

Leo looked at the backs of Steve and Bucky walking away and subconsciously touched his nose.

I don’t know if this Steve would really embarrass himself to death if he met that Steve…

But this had nothing to do with Leo. Leo agreed to go shopping with Natasha and Lorena, and the three of them happily turned around and walked towards the commercial street.

Steve and Bucky return home.

Old Tom moved away long ago, so Steve now lives in Old Tom's original house.

Bucky picked up the Skynet version of the rice phone from the table and handed it to Steve with an encouraging look: "Here, call. Do you remember the number?"

Steve took the phone and pressed a series of numbers skillfully. This was Peggy's personal phone number. Steve got it a month ago and already knew it by heart.

But when he pressed the dial button, Steve hesitated again.

"Come on, there's nothing to hesitate about," Bucky encouraged Steve again, and then thoughtfully left Steve some private space, "I'm going to watch TV and wait for your good news."

Steve held the phone, took a deep breath and slowly exhaled it, and made the call resolutely.

The time to wait for the call to be dialed was short, but Steve felt it was very long. Captain America, who was able to remain calm in the face of gunfire, had his heart pounding non-stop.

beep……

The bell started ringing on the other side, and Steve was shocked and held his breath.

"Hi? Who are you?" A female voice came from the phone. Although the timbre had changed a bit, Steve still recognized that it was Peggy's voice.

You know, in Steve's concept of time, he only met young Peggy a month ago, so he naturally remembers Peggy's voice clearly.

"I...I am..." Captain America, who was moving forward on the battlefield and wanted to be invincible, got stuck.

"Who are you? I didn't hear you clearly." Peggy asked.

"Steve, I'm Steve Rogers." Steve said these words with his body shaking involuntarily.

Peggy's chuckle came over: "Honey, where are you? I'll be home soon. Also, where did you get that strange mobile phone number..."

Halfway through her words, Peggy stopped talking and her tone suddenly changed, "Who do you think you are??"

Steve was a little confused by Peggy's previous words, and it took him a long time to come to his senses. At this time, Peggy was already asking the question for the second time.

Steve decided to suppress the doubts in his heart for the time being and replied: "I am Steve Rogers Page. You may not believe it when I tell you. I have been frozen in the ice field for fifty years. I...I am again

Back."

Peggy paused for a moment, as if she was shocked by the sudden news.

In fact, Peggy was counting the years crazily in her mind and carefully discerning Steve's voice. Finally, she was certain of something.

Peggy swallowed and said, "Steve, where are you now?"

"New York." Steve didn't expect Peggy to believe his words so easily, but love makes people smart, and Steve didn't doubt anything for the time being.

"I'm in Washington," Peggy said, "Steve, I think we should meet."

A smile appeared on Steve's face: "Yes, we should meet, I think so too."

"Starbucks, Potomac River Store in Washington, see you at 12 noon tomorrow." Peggy agreed on the time and place neatly.

"Uh...Okay." Steve was a little uncomfortable with such a fast pace, but he still subconsciously agreed.

When Peggy heard this, she immediately hung up the phone and hurried home in a hurry.

Things seemed to be getting out of control. She wanted to go home and ask her husband for an idea.

Dudu~

There was a busy signal on the phone and it was hung up.

Bucky had actually been listening not far away, but when he saw his friend finished the phone call, he came over and winked mischievously: "How's it going?"

"We have made an appointment at the time and place. Tomorrow at 12 noon, Starbucks' Potomac River store in Washington." Steve told the truth.

"I'm not asking about that," Bucky curled his lips: "I'm asking about Peggy's reaction? And the tone and attitude."

Steve frowned: "Weird."

Bucky patted his good friend on the shoulder: "After all, it's been fifty years, and Peggy is already over seventy years old..."

Steve understood what Bucky meant and forced a smile from the corner of his mouth.

In fact, he was very happy to hear that Peggy was still healthy at such an old age.

Tomorrow's meeting is just to satisfy a wish in my heart. The two of them will meet and chat briefly to let Peggy know that Steve is still alive and well. This is enough.

As for the dance that he couldn't forget, in fact... it wasn't that important...?

Steve was not sure either, but Steve could accept it calmly whether Peggy agreed to jump or not.

Bucky said coquettishly at this time: "How about I go with you tomorrow?"

"Are you coming with me?" Steve was a little surprised.

Bucky patted his chest: "After all, I know Peggy too. If we two brothers appear in front of her at the same time, we are sure to scare her."

Bucky's identity has been cleared, and Fury has promised not to reveal that he was Howard's murderer and helped him erase all clues.

Bucky believes in Fury's character. After all, Fury and Leo have an unusual relationship.

Bucky didn't know that the real Fury was sleeping underground with his secret, otherwise, he wouldn't have to worry at all.

Steve nodded: "You can go, but you must not scare her intentionally. After all, she is so old, so don't be frightened."

"Okay, okay, I'll just say that, it's a metaphor." Bucky defended, feeling a little helpless that his good friend's thoughts were so mature.

Helpless, Bucky patted Steve on the shoulder: "Sleep well tonight. I'm going to rest first. I'll drive you to Washington tomorrow."

Steve smiled as he watched Bucky walk upstairs. He stood there, looking forward to meeting Peggy tomorrow after fifty years.
