Chapter 89 Homecoming

The train was very noisy, with all kinds of sounds mixed in the carriage.

The sounds of videos being broadcast, the sounds of children crying, and people chatting while cracking melon seeds, and bursts of loud laughter burst out from time to time. The various sounds were mixed together, making people feel a little irritated from the bottom of their hearts.

Lin Ze suddenly missed the quiet practice room.

The girl next to me had already put on her headphones, listening to music and chatting on WeChat. She looked up at Lin Ze from time to time, and her ears turned red unconsciously.

After a while, she took out an apple from the bag in front of her, hesitated for a moment, took out another one, handed it to Lin Ze, and asked in a low voice: "Do you want to eat it? It has been washed."

Lin Ze was slightly startled. Not wanting to embarrass the other party, he paused and took the apple.

Seeing this, the girl breathed a sigh of relief.

This move seemed to break the barrier between the two. Then the girl was no longer as reserved as before, and started chatting quietly with Lin Ze while eating apples.

During the chat, Lin Ze learned that the girl's name was Ren Wan, that she was also going home for the New Year this time, and that she was going to the same city as him.

"I used to study in boarding high schools in other cities, and I could only go home during the Chinese New Year or major holidays."

After learning that Lin Ze's hometown was in the same city as hers, Ren Wan seemed particularly happy, with a smile on her face.

Time flew by as the two chatted, and the train arrived at the station in a blink of an eye. Lin Ze and Ren Wan picked up their luggage and squeezed into the crowd to leave the train station.

Before leaving, Ren Wan asked Lin Ze for WeChat, and after making an appointment to hang out together some time, she happily left with her bag on her back.

Lin Ze took a taxi home directly from the station.

Looking at the speeding traffic outside the window, he suddenly had the idea that he might take the time to get a driver's license.

After taking the driver's license test, I'll think of ways to buy a car. This will make it easier to investigate monsters in the future. Taking a taxi all the time is not an option.

Half an hour later, the car drove to the entrance of a community. Lin Ze got out of the car, paid the money, and walked in with his bag on his back.

Since his parents were away on business all year round, Lin Ze spent most of his childhood living with his grandfather. When he was a child, he used to wander around the community. He was familiar with many of the elders in the neighborhood. He met a few on the road, and it was inevitable to exchange pleasantries.

When he was approaching the floor where his grandfather's house was, he suddenly found a little girl squatting on the side of the road at the corner, staring at the ground.

The girl looked to be only in her early ten years, very thin, with a slightly pale face. She was wearing white washed clothes. She was staring blankly at the bread that fell on the ground, tears welling up in her eyes, as if she would fall at any moment.

Cry it out.

Seeing the girl reaching out to pick up the bread on the ground, Lin Ze quickly stepped forward, squatted down and gently held her wrist.

"It's already dirty and can't be eaten anymore."

After finishing speaking, Lin Ze paused, opened his backpack, took out two bagged cakes, and handed them to the little girl.

He bought this to eat when he was hungry on the train.

The little girl was obviously a little afraid of Lin Ze, and subconsciously shrank when he held her wrist, but when she saw the bagged cake he handed over, she showed an obvious look of longing.

"Eat." Lin Ze passed his hand forward.

The little girl then took the things and carefully tore open the packaging of one of the cakes. During the process, her eyes kept looking at Lin Ze, as if she was observing his expression. Seeing that his face was always soft, she really felt relieved.

Eat the cake in small bites.

"Thank you, thank you brother" the voice was a little low.

Lin Ze patted her head gently, then picked up the bread on the ground and threw it into a nearby trash can. He looked back at the little girl before turning and entering the building.

After returning home, Lin Ze took out his key and opened the door. As soon as he walked in, he saw his grandfather sitting in the living room making dumplings, wearing a pair of reading glasses on his face.

"Back."

Seeing Lin Ze entering the door, the old man didn't have much reaction. He just said something and continued to make dumplings.

"Yeah." Lin Ze didn't care. Grandpa was introverted and rarely showed his emotions on his face.

The reason why Lin Ze appears more calm and reserved compared to other peers is that he was influenced by his grandfather, with whom he lived most of his childhood.

However, it can be seen that the old man still attaches great importance to his return. Not only did he make dumplings by himself, but his home was also cleaned and spotless.

It always feels very good to go home, especially since Lin Ze has been through a lot recently.

After saying hello, he returned to the bedroom with his backpack and luggage, opened the curtains, and let in the sunlight from outside. He turned around and looked around, and found that everything had not changed much from before he left.

Except for the new sheets and bedspread, everything else remains the same as before. There is still a PSP I bought in high school in the desk drawer.

The familiar environment made him feel completely relaxed. Only in the bedroom where he had lived since childhood could he feel this comfortable feeling as if his whole body was empty and light.

Maybe this is the meaning of home.

After standing in the bedroom in a daze for a while, Lin Ze took out the items from his luggage and backpack, placed them one by one, then left the bedroom, washed his hands, sat on the sofa in the living room, and began to help make dumplings.

"How is school life?" Grandpa glanced at him and asked.

"Not bad, just the same." Lin Ze said casually.

Due to the existence of prohibition regulations, he cannot inform his family about the existence of the Cultivation Series games. However, even if there are no regulations, he is not prepared to do so. Not to mention whether his family members will believe it, even if they know, there is nothing they can do but worry about him.

What.

The two of them chatted while making dumplings, mainly Lin Ze talking about school matters.

After a while, he suddenly remembered something and asked, "I just saw a little girl downstairs. Is she a child from the community?"

Although my grandfather lived in a high-end community, the access control was not lax enough to let street children in. Therefore, even though the little girl's clothes and complexion did not look much better than those of street children, Lin Ze still did not think about it that way.

"Little girl?" Grandpa was a little confused.

Lin Ze roughly described the little girl's appearance.

"That's Xiao Ke from Building 405 next door." Grandpa paused and shook his head, "A poor child. Her mother passed away two years ago, leaving her father alone to take care of her. But it is said that the man is an alcoholic.

It was very serious. When he was drunk, he often beat and scolded his children. The neighbors complained many times but he still refused to change his behavior. It was not until someone called the police and the police intervened that they calmed down a little."

Hearing this, Lin Ze frowned slightly. He just saw a few bruises on the little girl's arm, and thought they were bumped while playing, but he didn't expect it to be domestic violence.
