Only one of the desalination canals is currently in operation. This desalination canal alone can produce 28 billion cubic meters of fresh water a year.
This seawater desalination plant has a total of three desalination canals planned, two of which are used for daily production and one is for backup.
If the three desalination canals operate at full capacity, they can produce 84 billion cubic meters of fresh water a year.
Of course, full capacity is impossible. It’s not that the desalination plants can’t produce it, but that the transportation pipelines can’t transport so much fresh water.
The water transmission pipeline currently being built has an annual water transmission capacity of 15 billion cubic meters per line.
If the desalination plant operates at full capacity, six water pipelines with an annual water delivery capacity of 15 billion cubic meters will be needed.
Therefore, the seawater desalination plant is currently putting a desalination channel into trial production, and the operating efficiency is only about 40%.
In front of us is a reservoir with an area of 100,000 square meters, a depth of 30 meters, and a capacity to store 3 million cubic meters of water. The water level is rising at a speed visible to the naked eye.
Don't think that a 3 million cubic meter reservoir can meet the fresh water production rate of a desalination canal. The fresh water produced by a desalination canal in one hour can fill the reservoir.
Therefore, during the trial operation, only 40% of the power is started, but even so, the reservoir will be completely filled in about two and a half hours.
