"When Qin Shihuang destroyed Chu, he compared it with Yu Shun's expulsion of Sanmiao, so he sacrificed it in the Shun Temple in the city. It was at that time, in Huaiyang City, that I met Duke Xia for the first time..."
As the great blessing of the imperial court, Shusun Tong accompanied Zhang Han, one of the nine ministers, and escorted the last batch of 30,000 rear troops and hundreds of thousands of grain and fodder to Huaiyang in Chendi.
After a lapse of sixteen years, Shusun Tong returned to his old place, and was inevitably filled with emotion in front of a group of Confucian scholars from all over the Central Plains.
At that time, he came late because his teacher Kong Yu was unwilling to answer the call of Qin Shihuang. As a result, he was stopped and searched outside by a black-faced Qin official. He was very careful and almost stripped him naked.
Later, Shusun Tong and two old Confucians quarreled in the temple to tamper with what Confucius said and to flatter Qin Mugong, and Hei Fu heard it...
Of course, Shusun Tong would not talk about these things. He only vaguely talked about his own knowledge and said to the Confucians:
"At that time, the first emperor of Qin asked what was right, and Xia Gong, who was in charge, caught his own sword and stood on his side. After that, I returned to Qufu, and the people of Lu asked: 'How is the king of Qin?' I replied: 'The king of Qin is very elegant; but on the bedside
The blade catcher is a true hero!"
After hearing this, the group of Confucian scholars first praised Hei Fu and praised his uncle Sun Tong for his sharp eyes and his ability to recognize the Lord.
They had completely forgotten that some time ago, those of them who had an old relationship with Shusun Tong had complained that when Shusun Tong became a high official in the imperial court, he did not recommend them as officials, but recommended only strong thieves who could kill generals and pull flags.
At that time, Shusun Tong said: "Xia Gong is fighting for the world with arrows and stones. Wouldn't you rather be able to fight? Therefore, I first said that I would kill the generals who hold the flag. I will not forget you, everyone, please treat me."
And now, he has indeed not forgotten this group of old people who have a certain say in the Central Plains. He spent several months gathering them one by one, and they gathered in Huaiyang today to plan a major event for Heifu:
"Sacrifice to Taihao Mausoleum!"
Taihao was originally the ancestor of Ren, Su, Xugo, Zhuanxu and other small countries with Dongyi surnames, but later, through the continuous accumulation of ancient history and the grafting of stories, he was completely integrated with the "Paoxi clan", that is, the myth of Fuxi.
It is said that Fuxi is one of the three emperors. He succeeded the Suiren family and succeeded to the throne. His mother was called Hua Xu. He followed the path of a great man in Leize and was born and died in Chengji. Fuxi has the body of a snake and the head of a human. He has holy virtues. Look up and see.
The image is in the sky, looking down to observe the Dharma on the earth, observing the writings of birds and beasts, and adapting to the earth, taking the bodies near and the objects far away. Begin to draw the Eight Diagrams to understand the virtues of the gods and imitate the emotions of all things.
He also made a written deed to replace the knotting of ropes. Then he began to make marriages, using the skin as a gift, and raising sacrifices for the cook. So it was called the cook.
Xian Zhise. King Mu De.
In short, he was a saint, and like Heifu, he was a great inventor. Bagua, written contracts, marriage, domesticated livestock, and music were all attributed to Fuxi.
Its capital was in Chen. It collapsed in the 111th year after its establishment and was buried in the north of Wanqiu. This is where Taihao Mausoleum was built.
Sacrifice to Taihao Mausoleum was originally suggested by a counselor named "Huang Shi" who was a new upstart in the Wings Camp, but Shusun Tong was also in favor and said to Heifu:
"Although Emperor Qin Shihuang worshiped Emperor Shun back then, he actually chose the wrong god to worship. Although Emperor Shun was one of the Five Emperors, in Chen, only the descendants of the Chen Kingdom worshiped him every year, but Taihao was different. Regardless of the
After the Chen Dynasty, as well as the people who immigrated from Chu, the nobles, scholars and common people all respected him very much and called him the ancestor of the people. They must sacrifice it on the second day of the second lunar month every year."
The customs of Guandong and Kansai are particularly important in etiquette. Shusun Tong said that even if the barbarians captured the Central Plains, they should still show their emphasis on etiquette and music and make a paper to win the support of the nobles and scholars.
What about Duke Xia?
So Shusun Tong entangled the Confucian scholars and scholars in the Central Plains and asked them to participate in formulating the etiquette of worship. He said he was participating, but in fact it was him who made the decision according to the needs of Duke Xia, because Duke Xia wanted to go south from Song Dynasty to Chen Dynasty.
, first pay homage to the mausoleum and then enter the city, time is very tight.
On July 15th, the day of the sacrifice, Xia Gong’s 10,000 personal guards had already surrounded Taihao Mausoleum. Although it is a legend, there really is a mausoleum as tall as a mountain in the north of the city. As for whether Taihao was buried inside.
, God knows, anyway, with the official endorsement of Zhou, Chen, and Chu, it would be okay to build a temple here and worship every year.
After waiting for Duke Xia, Shusun Tong talked about the matter:
"The original tombs were not as tall as they are today, but I don't know when it started. According to folklore, using soil from your hometown to build graves for your ancestors would help you give birth to children and avoid disasters. Therefore, men and women who came to worship had to come from their hometowns.
I brought a bag of loess and sprinkled it on the grave. Over time, Fuxi's tomb became as big as a hill."
The Chinese people’s beliefs are indeed very true.
Heifu laughed, and at the end he suddenly asked Shusun Tong:
"Is it smart?"
Shusun Tong was stunned for a moment, and then he remembered that before the regent came to the east, his wife was already pregnant, and she must be seven or eight months old now. He immediately said: "It is said to be very effective."
"I used to go in with my master. There was a stone with a clear hole in it. There was a saying in the past that if you want a boy, put your finger in it and turn it three times to the left. If you want a girl, turn it three times to the right.
Circle it, and then put your hand into the sleeve again, and it will come true."
Heifu said: "If this is true, Dongmen Leopard should have tried it back then."
Then he smiled and said: "Of course, it's too late now."
It sounded like he was "asking for a friend."
But later, during the unrestrained and passionate sacrificial witch dance that was the predecessor of Huaiyang's "Dan Jing Tiao" in later generations, Heifu quietly put his finger into the child-seeking stone that had been inspected three times by the guards in advance.
Then he turned to the right three times and murmured:
"This time, I hope I can have a little son-in-law..."
…
"Tailao Sacrifice, to comfort Emperor Xi.
Five hundred springs and autumns, there will be a Ming king.
There were many events in the Ji Dynasty, and Xia Gong came out to the east.
Reunify the world, eliminate violence and bring peace to the people.
Today I am in Wanqiu and I am playing Huazhang.
The old tree feathers are gone, and the new world is brilliant.
It’s not a shameful thing to do, but it’s good to have a good time.”
With the offering of Tai Lao, the lengthy memorial text was finally finished. Shusun Tong was solely responsible for today's ceremony. He said to Heifu:
"The five emperors have different music, and the three kings have different rituals. The rituals are based on the customs of the people at that time. Therefore, if the benefits and losses of the rituals of Xia, Yin, and Zhou can be known, it is said that they are not the same. I would like to adopt the ancient rituals and compare them with those of Qin
And the rituals of the six countries are mixed together."
And this ceremony was indeed a mixture of Zhou rites and Qin, Chen, and Chu rites, so it was considered appropriate. Confucian scholars and scholars in the Central Plains could not help but nod their heads, thinking it was appropriate.
The ceremony of worshiping Taihao was held before entering the city. On the one hand, it emphasized that this "successor" not only inherited the legacy of Qin, but also inherited the legitimacy of the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors, which was enough to let the Chendi scholars understand their goodwill in being willing to follow the local customs.
But ordinary people couldn't understand it at all, so after the ceremony, when Hei Fu was performing the ceremony of entering the city, he specially changed out of his sacrificial robes, put on another set of clothes, and flashed it in front of the three elders who greeted him.
Just this appearance is enough to shock the people of Huaiyang.
"I saw it right..."
Zhuang Jia, the royal husband of Huaiyang, who originally had hatred for the Qin people, was a little surprised when he saw the towering crown of Xia Gong from a distance:
"He is actually wearing a Chu suit!?"
…
Although Chen Di had been conquered for half a month, there was still some turmoil. The Chu people were simply suppressed by force. Xia Gong, who always paid attention to safety, naturally did not show up much. After settling in Huaiyang, he frequently invited local scholars to discuss matters.
, how to form a new county government headed by Chen Jun Yangxia people, Jun Wei Wu Guang and others.
Therefore, the task of explaining Xia Gong's intentions still fell to Shusun Tong.
"You read that right, Mr. Xia is indeed wearing Chu clothes."
At a banquet convening the three elders and scholars of Chen, Shusun Tong endorsed Hei Fu in this way.
"Xia Gong is originally from Anlu, Nanjun, which is also the land of Western Chu. He speaks of Jingchu and is from the same hometown as the Chen people. He has always been frugal. He usually wears short Chu clothes when he lives in Yan, and he specially wore them today.
The reason why I wear Chu clothes and wear Chu crowns is because I entered the land of Chen and followed the local customs specially!"
“As the Romans do?”
Chen's elders were a little surprised. When Qin Shihuang entered Chen, he came as a conqueror. This Xia Gong was a little different.
And when they heard that Shusun Tong only talked about Xia and did not mention Qin in the whole process, the rejection of this group of property owners faded a lot.
At the banquet, Shusun Tong described Xia Gong's plan to rule Chen land, or in other words, Chu State, and the six kingdoms:
"Qi Zheng cultivates education and governs according to the customs!"
