Its biggest feature is that it can improve material utilization, reduce production costs, and ensure the forming quality of parts without the need for a three-plate mold.
What are the characteristics of this process?
First, point gate feeding can be used, which simplifies the mold structure and reduces the requirements for the mold opening stroke of the injection machine.
The second is to save raw materials and avoid the process and cost of recycling, crushing and reusing the flow channel aggregate.
Third, the melt in the runner is always in a molten state with low flow resistance, which is conducive to the transfer of mold filling and holding pressure, and improves the surface quality and mechanical properties of the product. It can realize multi-point gates, multi-cavity molds and large, thin-walled, long molds.

Fourth, there is no time for cooling and removing the flow channel aggregate, which shortens the forming cycle; it is easy to automate production.
Fifth, the pressure loss in the flow channel is small, which reduces the required filling pressure and reduces the clamping force of the injection machine. There is no condensate in the pouring system, which reduces the injection volume and can fully utilize the capabilities of the injection machine.
Sixth, a needle valve gate can be used to control the gate closing time and ensure the molding quality of the product.
The biggest feature of this process is the insulated runner. If you look at my figure, there is no auxiliary heating device in the runner. Instead, the poor thermal conductivity of plastic is used to design the cross-section of the runner to be very large so that it is close to the surface of the runner.
The plastic melt condenses rapidly due to the lower mold temperature, forming a frozen layer, while the melt in the center of the runner maintains melt flow.
The main features of the insulated flow channel are low cost; easy replacement of materials during production; large flow channel diameter and small pressure loss; when the condensate in the flow channel freezes, it can be easily removed by opening the parting surface.
But it also has shortcomings. Because of its large size, it prolongs the heating time of plastics, and the temperature control is not ideal. It is not suitable for processing heat-sensitive plastics. It needs to be continuously improved. At this stage, West Germany is doing work in this area.
