Chapter 5 The Hanged Ghost Finds a Substitute

I was frightened by Aunt Li.

Realizing that I was staring at her stupidly, Aunt Li raised the corner of her mouth in a forced manner and said with a smile: "Girl Yun, your second uncle is here to find you, and I won't keep you here. You can go."

"

I nodded slowly and timidly moved behind my second uncle who was putting on shoes.

The second uncle put on his shoes and said to Aunt Li in a strong tone: "Sister-in-law, I have advised you before, you have to be strong yourself, don't believe anyone else's words, let alone do something wrong because of this!"

Looking at the tall and straight back of my second uncle, I thought of a new word I learned in school today, "full of righteousness."

Aunt Li chuckled coldly and closed the door with a bang.

The second uncle turned his head and grabbed my ear: "Let's go! Go home! If you find me not coming home from school again, your leg will be broken!"

"My mom and dad haven't beaten me yet!"

"Then I'll let your mother beat you!"

"Second uncle, why are you so bad!"

"Am I bad?" My second uncle laughed angrily at me. He squatted down and twisted the flesh on my face.

I let out a cry of pain that sounded like a train whistle.

"Am I bad? If I were bad, I wouldn't come to you. I would just let you fall into her hands."

"What the hell are you talking about?" I couldn't listen to what my second uncle said. I only knew that my face hurt, my butt hurt, and my feet hurt even more after being tortured all day.

The second uncle was silent for a while, straightened up for a long time, and rubbed my head, but I avoided him unconvinced.

"Girl Yun, your mother didn't let you get involved in these things because you didn't know the dangers involved, but because the restraint aroused your curiosity, I decided that instead of letting you die recklessly, I would

It’s better to let you see clearly the danger inside.”

"Ah?" What did the second uncle say? What made me see the danger inside? Could it be... "Second uncle, you are also a goddess!"

"Bah, bah, bah! Your mother is the goddess!"

"So you are a priest?"

"That's foreign!"

"and you……"

"If you can't speak, don't say anything. Just tell me if you want to watch it." The second uncle crossed his arms with a proud look on his face.

But...of course I can't ask for it!

"I want to see!"

"Okay." The second uncle waved his hand, then he raised his left hand and pinched the three middle fingers back and forth with his thumb, "It's not time yet, let's go back and have a meal first, and we'll see later."

"When is it?"

"Midnight." My second uncle led me back.

"Second uncle, where is your motorcycle?"

"It's at the school gate."

"Why don't you ride over here?"

"It's not like you disappeared. I was so frightened that I forgot that I still had a motorcycle." The second uncle knelt down and said, "Your feet hurt, so I will carry you on my back."

It was already past six o'clock in the evening when we got home, and my parents hadn't come back yet. When we entered the village on our motorcycles, we could see that many houses had their lights turned off.

The villagers were very enthusiastic. They probably heard about Uncle Zhang in the next village and helped to find him.

My heart skipped a beat. Since we are all looking for Uncle Zhang, does that mean that Uncle Zhang is missing?

"Second uncle, is there no news about Uncle Zhang yet?"

My second uncle pushed open the door of my house, walked into the kitchen, rolled out two bowls of noodles and started making noodles.

"You have a lot of things on your mind."

"Did he really get eaten?"

My second uncle ignored me, so I lay on the small table outside the kitchen, leaning on my chin and looking at my uncle's busy figure.

The second uncle kneaded the dough, fished out some sauerkraut, and cut a piece of meat. This was to make sauerkraut stewed with pork, and he added the flower rolls and cooked it in one pot.

I sighed: "Hey."

While chopping sauerkraut, my second uncle looked at me with a smile: "What's wrong, you don't like sauerkraut stewed with pork?"

"No, I'm worried."

"What are you worried about?"

"I'm worried about my second uncle. He's popular, can cook, and can make money. Why doesn't he have a wife?"

"..." The second uncle slammed the door.

Isn't it because you are too narrow-minded to close your shop because you are bald at an early age and cannot find a wife? What's the matter with that?

I shouted through the door: "Second uncle, please make more, and I will get some for Aunt Li later."

"I know, you little busybody."

After dinner, my second uncle asked me to sleep for a while. I was sleeping soundly when he pushed me awake.

"What are you doing!"

"Huh, why are you so angry when you get up? Why don't you go see me?"

That's right! We agreed to go see those things tonight, and this was the first time I was allowed to participate in it head-on. I was so excited that I went down to put on my shoes, put on my coat, and picked up a floral scroll for Aunt Li!

"Walk!"

"You girl." The second uncle smiled helplessly, and we got on the motorcycle and went out.

The second uncle parked the motorcycle near the big willow tree: "The motorcycle is too noisy, let's walk over."

Eh? Isn’t this the way to the Chenghuang Temple? Does my second uncle want to take me to see Aunt Li? Aunt Li...

"Second uncle, are you talking about Aunt Li? Is she possessed by an evil spirit?"

"OK."

No wonder Aunt Li is so strange today.

It was dark and midnight, and the cold wind was still blowing. I tightly held the corner of my second uncle's clothes and followed the light of his flashlight.

After walking for more than ten minutes, we arrived at the City God's Temple. From a few meters away, we could see that the door of the City God's Temple was open and a piece of candlelight shone out from inside.

"Shh." The second uncle made a gesture, then dragged me to Cao Keli opposite the City God's Temple and squatted down while he turned off the flashlight.

We happened to be able to see Aunt Li in the temple.

My brows were almost twisted into a knot, because Aunt Li didn't know what she was doing. She was holding the crying little girl, kneeling with her back to us, crying and kowtowing.

"What is Aunt Li doing?" I asked my second uncle in a low voice.

The second uncle took out a glass bottle from his pocket and said, "This contains cow tears. You can smear it on your eyelids."

"Oh." I didn't know what the cow's tears were for, but my second uncle asked me to do it, so I did it.

After wiping away the cow's tears, my second uncle patted me on the shoulder twice more: "Open your eyes."

"...Hmm!" Let me go! It's so scary! The moment I opened my eyes, I saw a person hanging from the beam above Aunt Li's head!

Her skin is whiter than her face! Her tongue actually hangs to the ground. When she moves it in the wind, her body is actually quite silky!

If my second uncle hadn't covered my mouth in time, I would have screamed!

"Haha, are you scared?" My second uncle's mocking tone made me stubbornly hold back my fear.

"I'm not afraid!" However, I said I'm not afraid, and my whole body was shaking like a sieve. "Second, uncle, is that a human?"

"No, that's a hanger looking for a substitute."

"substitute?"

"Well, people who commit suicide cannot be reincarnated. They can only find someone to die for them. You, Aunt Li, are not living a good life and have a weak will, so you were taken advantage of by this evil thing."

"Then you said don't be influenced by others. Is that other person the hanger?"

The second uncle glared at me angrily: "Of course, apologize to me quickly, you accidentally hurt me today."

"Oh, I'm sorry." I turned my head away.

The scapegoat in the Chenghuang Temple was talking in Aunt Li's ear: "It's good to die, it's good to die. After you die, you will wear a cotton-padded jacket. Life is so tiring. Come on, wife of the Li family."
