Chapter 3 Gold Paper

The pattern on the floor was in tatters, and the original four-pointed star could barely be seen.

The traces of dried blood on it appear dark black and red under the moonlight.

Colin walked to the bed and sat down, his thoughts drifting to the early morning more than ten hours ago——

...Rough stone walls, a fireplace made of cobblestones, open wooden windows, fresh blood stains at his feet under the moonlight, and him sitting on the edge of the bed with a pale face and covering his head as he looked around...

——This is the scene when he first traveled through time.

Before time travel, he was just an ordinary social worker. As a single man, he just bought a house this year with the help of his family, and he also took out a loan and bought a car. Although his daily work is boring, it is more relaxed and stable...

Overall, life is dull but happy.

He has never thought about traveling through time!

Colin came to his senses, fell back, and let his body fall on the bed.

boom.

But immediately, he sat up again with a grin on his face.

He forgot that this was no longer his soft big bed.

It's just a hard, cold wooden bed.

He felt inexplicably irritable, so he stood up from the hard and cold wooden bed, walked to the window, and looked up at the bright moon in the sky that was very similar to his previous life.

Although the weather is good tonight, there are still some clouds floating in the sky, swaying around the full moon in the night wind, and being dyed bright silver.

After a long time, he finally regained his composure, stamped his feet and shook his hands, moving his hands and feet that had been blown by the cold early spring wind.

Not long after, he felt the blood flow towards his limbs and bones, and then he slowly walked to the wooden table next to the bed, leaned over and stretched out his right index finger.

laugh.

There are no lighters and no magic props.

He simply stretched out his fingers, activated his spirit, and invoked his magic power, and a hot and beating flame suddenly appeared at his fingertips.

Colin stared at the dancing flames in his hands, his face slightly startled, the flames swaying in his beautiful blue eyes, and there was an indescribable emotion.

'Apprentice's trick - ignition... a truly extraordinary power...'

After a while, he lit the oil lamp, extinguished the flames on his fingertips, and prepared to clean up the mess left by the original owner in front of him.

In the morning, he was rushing to class. He only had time to wipe it casually with his feet, and then hurried out without even taking the dry food for lunch. The floor was still a mess.

The stone house where the original owner lived was built by the Lapp School to provide identical single rooms for junior apprentices.

The area is not big or small, almost fifty square meters, and the whole is rectangular. On both sides of the entrance hall are the bathroom and kitchen, followed by the bedroom, and further inside is a meditation room of about ten square meters.

The original owner's ceremonial painting was right next to the bed, occupying nearly half of the entire bedroom.

There are miscellaneous ritual items scattered all over it, and it should take a lot of effort to put them away.

Colin took out the broom from the bathroom and prepared to sweep the floor first.

'Sweep away the broken bones, throw away the ordinary pebbles, keep the crystals...' He tidied up the ground quickly.

'This is……'

After a while, his movements suddenly stopped.

He reached out and grabbed a pure black ball with no visible material in the center of the ritual pattern.

His heart was full of doubts. There was no such thing in the memory of the original owner.

The slender and fair palm of his right hand gradually approached the black ball, and just when it was about to touch it, it suddenly stopped.

'This is not on Earth...you have to be more careful about everything.'

Colin thought to himself that he wanted to take back his hand and find something else he could use to deal with it.

But a chill came from my right hand unexpectedly!

Colin's eyes widened, and the egg-sized black ball turned into a strange mist, gradually spreading towards his body along the palm of his hand before he could retract it.

He staggered to his feet, raised his arms, and watched the strange black mist fill his body step by step at an extremely fast speed! His eyes were full of horror.

Forearms, shoulders, chest, just in an instant, mist spread under the head!

Then, the mist seemed to find its target and rushed towards the head together.

Whoosh!

Colin's mind was buzzing and he staggered onto the bed.

………………

The next morning, the sky was slightly dim.

Bang bang bang!

There were regular knocks on the door outside the stone house.

Colin fell on the bed, his eyelids trembled slightly, but he did not wake up.

The knocking on the door continued for a while, then gradually stopped when no one opened the door.

呲-呲——

The next second, a brown letter was stuffed through the crack of the door.

The strong kraft paper made a subtle friction sound against the floor, and the red and blue gradient fire paint seal was firmly stuck to the seal of the envelope. The pattern was of intertwined flames.

After a while, after a slight sound of writing, another piece of paper was stuffed next to the envelope.

Then, there were the sounds of footsteps getting further and further away.

The sun gradually rose from the sea level, coating the gem-like blue sea with gold. After a while, the morning light penetrated through the gaps in the wooden windows and fell on the wooden floor. Then it moved slowly and gradually climbed onto the bed.

It shined on Colin's pale face.

After a while, Colin's slender eyelashes fluttered slightly, and finally he slowly opened his eyes.

The sun was dazzling, and he subconsciously squinted his eyes slightly and raised his right hand to shield his eyes.

Then, he seemed to remember something, and suddenly he sat up, stood by the bed, looked around, raised his hands, stretched them, and looked back and forth carefully.

The palms are white and plump, the arms are slender and healthy, there are no extra hairs, and there are not a few extra tentacles. Looking at the whole body...everything is normal.

Colin let out a long breath.

He frowned slightly, and there was a strange feeling lingering in his heart.

After hesitating for a moment, he followed the feeling and thought.

Densely packed golden particles suddenly appeared in front of him, and finally slowly gathered into a square piece of gold paper.

Colin's eyes widened.

The gold paper is densely intertwined with many strange and beautiful black lines.

For some reason, this line reminded him of the black ball last night.

And this gold paper...

He suddenly remembered: 'Isn't this a handicraft he bought at a flea market in his previous life?!'

‘…Could this be my golden finger?!’

The changes continued, and those strange black lines on the gold paper suddenly squirmed and twisted.

After a while, it turned into a few lines of words he was most familiar with.

[Name: Colin Leonard]

[Level: Junior Wizard Apprentice (53/100)]

[Meditation method: Apprenticeship circle meditation method (78/100)]

[Witchcraft: Ignition (87/100); Water Condensation (68/100); Light (41/100)]

[Break limit point: 0]

At the same time, two pieces of information came -

Before reaching the limit, every practice will make progress.

After reaching the limit, you can use limit-breaking points to break the limit and continue to improve.

With his heart beating violently uncontrollably, Colin took a deep breath for a while, then seemed to have thought of something and stretched out his right hand.

laugh.

Orange-red flames flickered at the fingertips, and then were extinguished.

Colin put down his hand and exhaled, and with a thought, he summoned the gold paper.

The golden particles gathered together, and the black text appeared again.

My eyes quickly swept down, and in the witchcraft column, behind the ignition technique, the ↑ symbol suddenly appeared, then gradually disappeared, and finally changed back to 87/100.

Colin was overjoyed. Although the progress of the ignition technique had not changed, he could clearly feel that there had been progress... The magic power consumption seemed to have been reduced a little, and the flames seemed to be more stable.

"Does every practice lead to progress?"

His heart was beating violently, and he took several deep breaths without any relief.

He quickly walked to the wall and opened the window. The bright light that came in front of him made his eyes narrow slightly. After he got used to it, he allowed himself to look into the distance.

Under the sunlight, the endless blue sea surface shines in the distance, and flocks of white seabirds fly low from above, making chirping sounds.

A gust of sea breeze carrying a moist breath gently brushed his face. Feeling relaxed and happy, he finally gradually calmed down.

The appearance of gold paper finally dispelled a lot of the depressive haze lingering in his heart.

This world is too dangerous!

Weird rituals, a strange world, the three-month deadline, the weird green flames in the distance at the gathering place last night...

Now...he finally has something to rely on.

‘But it’s not time to relax yet.’ He exhaled, cheered up, and walked towards the meditation room, where he was ready to plan his next plan!

Katsa.

The next second, Colin stopped moving forward. He raised his foot in confusion. Underneath was a crushed white shell.

I suddenly passed out while cleaning up last night, and now this place is still a mess.

He thought for a moment, then bent down and picked up the broom on the ground.

"...Let's clean up this place first to prevent others from discovering traces of the ritual."

Then he touched his belly again and decided to have a meal after cleaning.

After all, he hasn't eaten anything since yesterday.

Colin retracted his gaze from the kitchen and prepared to sweep the floor.

But the next second, he raised his head and looked at the door again.

Under the wooden door, lying quietly is a brown letter and a piece of white paper.

The breeze coming through the gap between the door panel and the ground was causing the white paper to sway slightly.

Colin frowned slightly, dropped his broom and walked towards the door.
