Chapter 55 Unreasonable Requests

Under Japan's open threats and intimidation, the provincial government announced on the 25th that it had decided to move the provincial government to Baoding.

As soon as this news came out, the Japanese not only did not stop their demonstrations, but intensified their demonstrations.

On the 29th, the Japanese and Chinese garrison troops were fully armed, equipped with armored vehicles, machine guns and steel cannons, and conducted an armed parade along the Hebei Grand Meridian Road.

On the 30th, the Japanese troops demonstrated again in front of the provincial government and fired threatening shots in front of Beiyang University.

On the 31st, more than a hundred Japanese soldiers openly broke into the Haigu Public Security Bureau and took pictures everywhere, insulting and provoking.

Shigeru Kawagoe, the Japanese Consul General in Haigu, proposed a final conspiracy to the Kuomintang Hebei Provincial Government.

The Kuomintang authorities in Hebei Province and Haigu City were horrified. All members of the Kuomintang Haigu City Party Headquarters asked for leave and did not dare to go to work.

On June 1, the Kuomintang Hebei Provincial Government moved from Haigu to Baoding under pressure from the Japanese army.

Japan's arrogant and unreasonable provocation left the Nanjing government with no confidence to resist and could only bow its knees.

In order to satisfy the Japanese request, the Nanjing government decided to place Haigu directly under the Executive Yuan and appoint Wang Zhiqiang as the mayor of Haigu.

It also issued an order to "strictly order the Haigu military, political and military police agencies to strictly ban secret groups that are harmful to diplomatic relations."

The actions of the Nanjing government, as well as the Hebei Provincial Government and Haigu Municipal Government did not satisfy Japan.

Instead, they see greater benefits from the cowardly Chinese government.

In just one month, the Hebei Provincial Government and the Haigu Municipal Government all moved to Baoding. The Nanjing government was so tolerant of the Japanese. When Lu Chengzhou learned about it, he was helpless.

The most fundamental reason why Japan is so confident is because their rights and interests have been harmed.

The trigger for all these events was the assassination of the presidents of "Kuo Quan" and "Zhen Bao".

After a month of verification, Lu Chengzhou already knew that the military command and other patriotic organizations did not assassinate Hu Yuhuan and Bai Enbo.

In other words, the main reason why these two traitors were killed was not because they were traitors, but because the Japanese abandoned them.

In other words, the Japanese made their final contribution to Japan with their deaths.

Knowing this, Lu Chengzhou suddenly broke into a cold sweat when he recalled the order Nozaki gave him.

If Nozaki's operations were more perfect, he would definitely be happy to let the military commander assassinate traitors like Hu Yuhuan and Bai Enbo.

The Japanese needed the Chinese to do this kind of thing, because the military command was slow to act, and the Japanese secret service, which couldn't wait, actually took action first.

The Japanese seemed to be righteous, but in Lu Chengzhou's view, they were really arrogant and unreasonable.

All these incidents were directed by them.

When Lu Chengzhou told Li Xiangxue about this matter, he was also very helpless.

"That's what the saying goes: a weak country has no diplomacy." Li Xiangxue sighed.

"The Japanese army is showing off its power on our soil, but the government can't do anything about it. Those party members are so frightened that they asked for leave to avoid disaster. Once China and Japan go to war, these people will rush to join Japan." Lu Chengzhou said worriedly.

"So, we need to use direct actions to remind the people that the Japanese are despicable and shameless. We also warn those who defect to Japan, or want to defect to Japan, that they will not end well." Li Xiangxue said.

The Japanese troops openly demonstrated in Haigu and roared with threats, which indeed scared some people out of fear.

However, true revolutionaries will not be intimidated by the enemy's guns.

The behavior of the Japanese army also made the military commander very helpless.

Fortunately, they have not taken action yet, otherwise, the military commander would have to take the blame for the Japanese for this incident in North China.

But even so, the headquarters dismissed Peiping station chief Chen Shugong from his post.

"Webmaster Chen has been dismissed, who will replace him?" Lu Chengzhou asked expectantly.

What he hopes most is that Liu Youjun will take over as the chief of the Haigu station. In this case, he, as an independent intelligence agent, can legitimately enter the upper echelons of the military system.

"I haven't received a notification yet." Liu Youjun shook his head.

In the past year, military command in Haigu has been plagued by disasters. First, Wang Xiaoxiang was poisoned and died, and then Chen Shugong was dismissed for dereliction of duty.

At present, at the Haigu Station of the Military Command, the intelligence team leader Lu Enpu and the military intelligence team leader Zheng Wenyou are jointly responsible for the business, while Liu Youjun is only responsible for the internal logistics.

In fact, Lu Enpu and Zheng Wenyou both wanted to be the webmaster, but the headquarters did not give an order, so they could only compete secretly.

Lu Enpu has an advantage. His nephew Lu Muhan is also the direct correspondent of Haigu Station of the military command.

"This matter was manipulated by the Japanese secret service. The chief of staff of the garrison, Takashi Sakai, and the military attaché stationed in China assisted Tan Takahashi. Since they framed us for assassinating Hu and Bai, why don't we look for an opportunity to kill Takashi Sakai and Tan Takahashi?"

What?" Lu Chengzhou said suddenly.

"In the future, we must be more cautious in our actions. Actions like this against the Japanese must be approved by the headquarters, and private actions are absolutely not allowed." Liu Youjun said sternly.

Just because Hu Yuhuan and Bai Enbo died, Haigu and even North China were devastated by the Japanese.

If Takashi Sakai or Tan Takahashi were killed, the Japanese artillery would have really fallen.

Lu Chengzhou sighed secretly. The Nationalist Government did not have the confidence to fight Japan. Chiang Kai-shek's energy was all on dealing with the Red Army. No matter how fierce the Japanese were, the Nationalist Government did not dare to say a harsh word.

The Japanese may have seen through this. Sakai Takashi and Takahashi Tan met with Yu and He, the secretaries-general of the Peking Political Reorganization Committee, and slandered Hu and Bai's murders as the work of the Kuomintang and as a "China Anti-Japanese Action."

"It is a provocation to Japan."

And Chairman He of the Peking Military Commission verbally protested: "If such behavior occurs again in the future, or if it is learned that such behavior will occur, the Japanese military will take self-defense actions it deems necessary in accordance with the provisions of the treaty, and other consequences will arise."

The Japanese military is not responsible for any situation."

The Japanese people's arrogant attitude, arrogant tone, and shameless behavior of confusing right and wrong are really outrageous.

Then, Japan proposed to the National Government to remove the chairman of the Hebei Provincial Government, move the Hubei Provincial Government to Baoding, and remove the commander of the 3rd Gendarmerie Regiment, the Political Training Director of the Military Branch, and others from their posts.

At the same time, the cases of Hu Yuhuan and Bai Enbo must be investigated within a time limit and solved within a time limit.

These unreasonable demands are actually clearing the way for promoting the so-called "North China Autonomy Movement."

Lu Chengzhou reported this matter to his superiors many times, but the National Government did not take any countermeasures at all.

The Japanese side threatened: "The Japanese army will take decisive measures for self-defense. It is also unknown whether the Gengzi Incident or the September 18th Incident will directly occur."

Later, they also proposed a ban on anti-Japanese activities nationwide.

These demands were extremely absurd. However, the Nationalist Government sent Chairman He of the Peking Army Branch to Haigu to negotiate with the commander of the garrison army, Umezu Yoshijiro.
