17. Invitation

For the rest of the day, Gallo kept reading, gnawing potatoes when he was hungry, and doing push-ups to relax when he was tired.

Until the sun went down and when I was about to close the door, a customer suddenly came to the door.

It's the lovely Undine.

"Lieutenant Undine? Why are you here?"

Gallo was a little surprised.

"Aren't you off work yet?"

The corners of Undine's mouth couldn't help but twitch, and she said angrily:

"A strange murder occurred in the west of the city. I will have to be busy with it for a while..."

"Can't you just invite me in to talk?"

Gallo quickly brought Undine into the church and sat down, and then went to pour her a cup of tea. The tea was given to her by others when the old bishop went to the countryside to preach. Although it was cheap, it tasted good. It was rare for the church to serve it out.

The guest's belongings.

Undine took a sip of tea and started talking:

"This case is so weird. There are doubts everywhere. We worked hard all day and couldn't find any useful clues at all..."

"The current case is directly in charge of the head of our ninth department, Lieutenant Colonel Jerry. I recommended you to him, but he first invited someone from the Supreme True God Religion..."

"Because there are too few clues, we can only roughly speculate that the Baron's nephew and Captain Martin should have been bewitched by some kind of evil..."

"It's a pity that we arrived too late. The afterglow and fluctuations at the scene have been very faded, and we can't confirm the specific kind of evil spell."

Gallo acted as a qualified listener and seemed very natural, as if the matter had nothing to do with him. He even picked up a little milk cat that was passing by, held it in his arms and petted it.

"Scare~ so cute!"

Undine's eyes suddenly lit up, and she quickly took the kitten over, placed it on her chest, and rubbed her face against the soft fur on its body.

Then he asked curiously:

"Where did you find it?"

"Given by believers."

Gallo answered truthfully and then asked:

"Lieutenant Undine is here to discuss the case with me?"

Undine shook her head.

"I just wanted to tell you that I would like to help you keep an eye out for people who use this kind of magic..."

"If you find anything, don't show off. This murderer is particularly dangerous. Come and notify us as soon as possible."

Gallo nodded and couldn't help but feel a little curious. There was no need to come here to talk to him about this kind of thing, right?

Could it be that...

She knew she had a litter of kittens here, so she came here specifically to suck them?

On the other hand, Undine asked again:

"Do you think Skullcrusher did it?"

Gallo thought seriously and shook his head.

Seeing that her opinion was recognized, Undine smiled slightly and said quickly:

"I don't think so either. The two victims committed suicide to some extent, which is inconsistent with the effective methods of the Skull Crusher and does not have that sense of ritual."

"And the murderer's purpose is not as pure as the Skull Crusher. He actually stole an expensive black gold golem!"

"This puppet was originally lent by Master Winner to the Baron's nephew. Now that the person died and the puppet was lost, he became furious and put a lot of pressure on us, which is why I have to work so hard..."

"I heard that Master Wenner bought this demon doll for 50,000 gold coins. These mages are really rich..."

As she spoke, she stretched lazily, stretched out her limbs, and fully displayed her legs in long leather boots and black stockings in front of Gallo's eyes.

Then she noticed that Gallo's expression changed, his eyes widened, and his breathing became rapid...

"Hmph! You clergy, you are sanctimonious during the day, but your true nature is exposed at night?"

Undine coyly said something shy and quickly closed her legs.

"Sorry, I just thought of something else..."

Gallo defended with some embarrassment.

He really wasn't greedy for Undine's beauty. He just lost his temper a little because he heard the staggering figure of 50,000 gold coins.

This is equivalent to 5 million silver coins and 500 million copper coins. If you buy them all into potatoes, you can pile them into a mountain, enough for you and the old bishop to eat for a lifetime!

But didn’t the old bishop say that this devil is worth just a few hundred gold?

I see...

That Master Wenner must have lied!

The mage is like this, cunning and cunning, and he also loves face. This person must have deliberately exaggerated the amount in order to show off his wealth in front of others.

Gallo was thinking wildly, but Undine saw that he was still distracted, so she quickly put down the little kitten and stood up.

"It's almost time to leave. I have to go back to work tonight, so I just passed by you and wanted to chat with you."

"By the way, this is for you..."

She took out an envelope from her arms and handed it to Gallo.

"Don't overthink it. It's just that I won't be able to find a more suitable candidate for a while, so I'll give you an advantage. Don't get it wrong."

"Remember to change into a nicer robe before you go."

After that, she didn't let Gallo see him off and left by herself.

Gallo looked at the envelope, which was inlaid with gold threads, exuded a faint fragrance and looked very high-end, and opened it with confusion.

Inside was an invitation letter? It was sent by a rich man named Donald.

He is a jeweler from out of town. He is planning to expand his business in the Sinless City recently. He wants to hire a high-end professional, well-educated and skilled priest with a high salary to bless the jewelry purchased by his guests so that it can shine.

Blooms longer.

This invitation letter is to invite interested parties to come for an interview.

Gallo was a little confused, why did Undine give him this?

He quickly found the old bishop and discussed the matter with him.

After reading it, the old bishop thought for a while and said:

"I've heard of this Donald. He's from a famous jewelry family in Harvest City, and he's the most respectable person..."

"Rich people like to bless the valuable items they have on hand, but this is the first time he has hired someone to do this in a store..."

"It seems that Lieutenant Undine is very kind to you and has given you a good opportunity."

Gallo replied disapprovingly:

"When I first met her, she didn't even have a military rank..."

"Later, relying on the various clues I provided, I captured several dangerous wanted criminals and busted a group of cults. I was promoted to lieutenant and soon to be captain, right?"

"So this should be called reciprocating a peach in return, a peach in exchange for a peach in return..."

"Uh..." The old bishop was speechless for a moment, paused, and then changed his words and asked:

"So are you going to try it?"

Gallo shook his head:

"Divine magic is the blessing and gift of the goddess, how can it be used for such a thing?"

The old bishop nodded:

"Well, I think so too..."

But their eyes fell on the treatment promised on the invitation letter:

Weekly salary: one gold coin

So they all said in unison:

"But the money he gave was too much..."
