Chapter 26 Fish farming

A meal where both guest and host enjoy themselves.

After sending Mrs. Liu and her family away, Qin Manzhi pulled her daughter into the house and closed the door.

She had a serious look on her face: "Ke'er, do you know how worried your mother is when she heard this? I know you are a kind child, but before anything else, you must consider your own situation first."

"Mom, I only have you as my daughter, and I don't want anything to happen to you again." As she spoke, Qin Manzhi's eyes turned red.

Zhuang Keqing still didn't understand what her mother meant, but if she had to think twice about saving people, then she would really not be able to pass the test of her own conscience.

But after all, mother was doing it for herself, so she comforted herself and said: "Mom, I know what's appropriate, and I'm not as fragile as you think."

Seeing that her daughter was determined, she was afraid that she would not be able to convince her, so Qin Manzhi finally compromised.

That's all, no matter what happens in the future, as a mother, she just needs to protect her more.

On the other side, Lao Chuantou actually listened to Zhuang Keqing's words.

On the way home, he kept thinking, the method of raising fish in rice fields seems to be harmless, could it really be feasible?

So while the whole family was there at dinner, he proposed his idea.

"Do you think you can try that method?"

Zhang Da heard what Zhuang Keqing said with his own ears, and it was indeed reasonable. Even after so many years of farm work, he couldn't find anything wrong with it. Moreover, the girl seemed to have a very good idea, and she saved her mother's life.

His mind naturally turned aside.

"I think we can give it a try," he said.

"How can that be done? If the harvest is ruined, wouldn't it be a waste of time!" Zhang Er was the first to disagree: "What can a little girl know about farming?"

"That's right! Even if you are a scholar, you don't know much about things in the fields than we do." Zhang San agreed with his second brother.

After hearing what the second son said, Mrs. Liu didn't express her position, but her gray brows wrinkled.

Several daughters-in-law were not in charge of the family, and no one dared to interrupt. The grandchildren saw that the atmosphere was not good, and even put away the bowls and chopsticks, waiting for the elders to finish talking before eating.

The family didn't discuss the outcome until they finished their meal. In the end, it was Mrs. Liu who spoke: "I promised that girl to go to the paddy fields tomorrow to help. Boss, please take a few of the younger ones there and see what happens."

Zhang Da nodded in agreement. Seeing that his mother was in a bad mood, the second and third elders did not dare to talk about it any more and just went back to their rooms to rest.

Early on the next morning, Zhuang Keqing set up a tofu stall and was selling tofu. Zhang Da brought his son and the boys from his second and third brother's families. They were all tall and tall like Zhang Da, but their faces were more childish.

"Uncle Zhang, you came so early. I haven't sold out all the tofu yet!" Seeing that Mrs. Liu was true to her word, Zhuang Keqing changed her mind.

Zhang Da was dull, even though he was an elder, he just smiled innocently and stood aside, waiting.

When Qin Manzhi saw it, he took the initiative to bring stools and soy milk, and asked a few people to sit down and rest for a while, saying that when she was done with what she was doing, she would come and replace her daughter.

She had heard from Zhuang Keqing last night about raising fish in rice fields. Although she didn't agree with it, since it was her daughter's decision, she agreed. Even if there was no harvest by then, wouldn't there still be something to cover?

, the family has a small population, so it won’t be worse than before.

Several boys from the Zhang family drank soy milk with added sugar. They all looked very beautiful and thought that they would have to work harder in the future.

After Qin was busy, Zhuang Keqing left his job at the tofu stall and went to his family's paddy field with a few others.

"Uncle Zhang, is it complicated to raise the height of the field?"

Zhuang Keqing had thought yesterday that if he wanted to raise fish in rice fields, the field ridges would have to be widened in addition to being higher, to prevent snakes and rats from digging holes.

"It's not too complicated to say, but it's a bit labor-intensive. Fortunately, your farm is not big. If there were just a few of us, we could finish an acre in almost a day."

If it is just a superficial effort, two acres of land per day is more than enough. But the land is for fish farming, and the soil must be tamped repeatedly. If it is done hastily, it will easily overturn and collapse.

Zhang Da is indeed good at farming. He had already thought about it all night yesterday and had an idea about the height and width of the field ridges. When he talked to Zhuang Keqing again, they found that the other person's views were surprisingly consistent with his own.

This made Zhang Da look at this girl with admiration.

After that, it was time to work, and he didn't want Zhuang Keqing to do anything. He ordered a few boys to dig soil and ram the ground, and they were busy.

Zhuang Keqing saw that they were busy, so he went home to make some food and would bring it to him later. People were kind enough to help, so they wouldn't be hungry.

The sun gradually climbed up, and there were gradually people coming and going on the road beside the fields.

"Hey, Zhang Da, why are you here? Is there no work in your field?"

The person who came was a thin man named Er Gouzi. At this time, he saw that Zhang Da was not busy in his own field, but instead ran to the banker's place, and he became interested.

"Come and help me." Zhang Da was so busy that he had no time to chat with him.

Ergouzi was also a shrewd person. He could tell at a glance that the Zhang family were raising the height of the field, and he became even more curious. He was not afraid that people would find him annoying, so he stepped onto the field ridge in two steps, holding his hands in his arms.

Watch them work.

"Okay, how about raising the height? Do you have enough time?"

He was unpleasant when he started talking, but Zhang Da didn't bother to pay attention to him. These two sons of dogs are not good at farming, but they can gossip easily. Everyone in the village knows this.

Seeing that Zhang Da was silent, Ergouzi rolled his eyes and asked about the boys next to him.

"Hey, what on earth are you busy with?"

"Tamp down the ground."

The boys from the Zhang family were all honest, so they answered the question, but they didn't focus on the key point at all.

I didn't make Ergouzi angry to death.

With a snort, he jumped down from the field and walked away.

But he was not idle after that. He had just been blocked by the Zhang family, and he was suffocating in his heart. He wanted to talk about their affairs to everyone he met. After a while, half of the village knew who the Zhang family was.

It's about helping the banker, and he still doesn't know what kind of work he is doing, just messing around.

The village is always boring, and if there is anything new, it will spread very quickly. In addition, Zhuang Keqing has been very popular in the past two days. When he heard the news, soon some villagers who had done something good came to watch.

"Zhang Da, what on earth are you busy with? Tell me!"

"That's right, that's right, they're all from the same village, what's there to hide?"

Er Gouzi stood behind the group of villagers with his arms folded, looking like he was watching a good show.

After Zhuang Keqing returned home, he mixed some salt and sugar water, told his mother to stew more dry rice at noon, fried pickles with lard, stewed some tofu, sent them to the fields at noon, and then went out again.

Before she reached the end of the field, she saw many people standing on the roadside, pointing at their paddy fields. Several members of the Zhang family stood on the ridges of the fields, looking embarrassed and at a loss.

"What is everyone looking at?" she asked aloud.

Seeing the real owner coming, the villagers no longer embarrassed Zhang Da. They all turned around and asked, "What is Zhang Da doing on your land? Can you tell me about it?"

Zhuang Keqing didn't feel embarrassed when he saw so many people surrounding him.

She walked to the edge of the field, handed the jar of salt and sugar water and the porcelain bowl to Zhang Da, and then said slowly: "Uncle Zhang is here to help my family raise the height of the field."

"Of course we can see it, but why do we need to raise this thing?"

Zhuang Keqing smiled slightly: "Because I want to raise fish."
