Chapter 9 Bedtime Stories

After Asik finished washing up on Fire Island, he carried his quilt and pillow and teleported to the main plane, where he made them on the bed in the room on the second floor.

When he walked out of the room, he saw Eleanor's spear behind the locked door. If something tried to hit the door, it would knock the spear to the ground first, making a noise that would wake everyone up.

Eleanor's shield was placed vertically on the window, which not only blocked prying eyes from outside, but also served as a warning.

Eleanor, who was holding a long sword, finished checking the cellar and walked back to the lobby on the first floor when she heard a voice above her head ask:

"Have you checked everything?"

"Well." Eleanor raised her head and looked at Aske, who was leaning on the railing on the second floor, "I'm keeping vigil in the living room today."

"If I were you, I would lay a floor in the corridor on the second floor." Asker said, "Once you are awakened, as long as you stay down and guard the stairs, the enemy will not be able to attack."

"Besides, there's no need to use weapons and shields. It's too extravagant. Just stand a few bottles upside down on the outside."

"That makes sense." Eleanor nodded, put away the spear and shield again, and started using bottles to make sound traps.

"I'll stay in this room." Ask said, "If you need anything, please call me."

"Are you staying out today?" Eleanor asked in surprise.

"Yes." Aske said.

But today it is my turn to guard the ancient books. Eleanor hesitated for a long time, but finally did not say anything.

She knew that the leader was worried about her safety, so she originally wanted to refuse, but the leader was so powerful. With him in the room, she would feel much more at ease while keeping vigil.

Asker went back to his room to sleep. Although the room was small and the furniture was simple, it was tidied by the hostess. He put on his clothes and lay down on the bed, closed his eyes, and placed the dragon bone sword beside the bed.

Eleanor made a floor on the second floor. She also placed her sword, shield and spear within easy reach. She looked over the edge of the corridor floor and could easily scan the living room and the main entrance below.

"Ask." She called softly, "Ask?"

"What's wrong?" a voice came from the room.

"My voice is so soft, can you hear it?" Eleanor asked in surprise.

"Of course, my 'Perfect Physique X' has some bonuses in terms of perception." Asik replied.

"Well." Eleanor said truthfully, "I can't sleep."

"Something on your mind?"

"I'm thinking about what that person said."

That person, of course, refers to the Hidden String Demigod.

"What's the use of thinking so much?" Aske said.

"It's useless, but I can't help but think about it." Eleanor rested her head on one hand and looked down, "Ask..."

"War is really a terrible thing. I'm thinking, if I hadn't met you in the underground arena of Constantinople, what would I be like now?"

There was silence in the room for a while.

When Asker first met Eleanor, he felt that her appearance seemed familiar, but he couldn't remember where he had seen her before.

The only thing that is certain is that as an NPC in the game, she definitely did not die in the closed beta version of the Constantinople Fall War.

"Do you think I will die in the Crusades?" Eleanor asked quietly.

"No way." Ask said.

"Why? I was just an ordinary person at that time, and my strength was not very good." Eleanor said, "Even if I couldn't defeat the Crusader knights who attacked the city, but seeing the miserable situation of the citizens of Constantinople, I should

I will step forward."

"Because when the Crusaders invade the Golden Horn, Nora will definitely call someone to pick you up and take you away by the way." Asker said, "I don't think you will stay in Constantinople until

The Crusader Knights came across the Galata Bridge."

There was silence outside the door for a long time, and then Eleanor's relieved voice came:

"That's true. If I hadn't met you."

"Speaking of which, how did you and Nora get acquainted?" Ask asked casually.

"Guard." Eleanor replied, "I accepted her employment and worked as her guard for a period of time, accompanying her on walks in Constantinople."

"Then, she guessed your identity." Ask said.

"Probably, although I looked like a down-and-out wandering mercenary at that time." Eleanor smiled, "But she guessed from my accent that I came from a noble family in Bavaria.

"

"Does the accent reflect the class identity of the speaker?" Ask asked casually.

"Yes, and no." Eleanor whispered, "For example, Mia, Paige and Mi'er speak standard Cyrisian, and you can tell that they are citizens of Constantinople, because Cyrus

The city-states on the peninsula all have their own dialects and accents."

"Also for example, although Hilda and I both speak Latin, only the Frankish nobles use the standard Latin accent, while the common people speak with a lot of Frankish dialect. Hilda's Latin has a strong northern accent.

The accent, as well as some slang words, should be from her hometown dialect there."

"As for Medea and you, Nora said that she can't tell your origins at all. Medea's Cyrus is extremely fluent, but too standard. She obviously went through hard special training, so that most of her accents were removed.

Characteristics."

"The same is true for your Cyrus and Latin. They are of extremely high standard. Nora said that you must have received extremely professional linguistic training."

In fact, I have never learned Latin or Cyris at all. These are the special talents brought by soul penetration...Asker complained in his heart.

"Asker, what was your past like?" After a moment, Eleanor asked again in a low voice.

"My past was quite boring." Ask said, suddenly feeling that this question seemed familiar.

"Is it more boring than the story of a girl who comes from a high-class noble family, always competes with her brothers, and finally runs away from home in anger?" Eleanor asked.

"For example, is it more boring to live the first half of your life step by step according to family arrangements, and then suddenly start to pursue your dreams and life value?" Asker said.

"It seems that we are pretty much the same," Eleanor said. "We don't want to follow our family's arrangements. Oh, I was thinking, if we could have met earlier..."

"Then what?" Aske asked.

It was quiet for a long time outside the door.

"No, it's nothing. Good night."

"Good night."

Eleanor retracted her head into the quilt, took one last look at her sword and shield, and then slowly closed her eyelids.

What did you want to say just now? Eleanor, are you out of your mind?

She suddenly felt a little tired and felt sleepiness welling up from the bottom of her heart.

The complex and disordered thoughts also calmed down, and he began to enter a state of pseudo-drowsiness that remained vaguely awake.

I do not know how long it has been……

It wasn't until a clear sound of a bottle falling to the ground rang out from downstairs that she suddenly woke up from her slumber. Her right hand instantly reached out from the quilt and grasped the long sword on the floor.
