In mid-January 1993, the 'VCD Industry Development Seminar' was held in Kunming. Hundreds of units across the country gathered here to discuss how to make this new product bigger and stronger.
Many people from other provinces in the southwest are aggrieved.
"Why is this big project located in Yunnan? We are also very poor in Guizhou."
"Guangxi is close to the sea and its geographical conditions are no worse than those of Guangdong. Why can't it be located in Nanning?"
"Just because Yunnan is close to the border and has serious drug and poverty problems? This is really unreasonable."
The 'Shengguang' Group in 1992 was so dazzling. Since Zhou Qingfeng reaped the benefits from Damao, it has settled large projects in more than a dozen cities in China.
These projects range from a few hundred million to more than a billion, and the benefits they bring are immediate.
Daqin Machine Tool Factory in Hanzhong City was restructured last year and installed two nine-axis five-linkage ultra-large machine tools. It also won multiple R&D projects such as multi-mode CNC machine tools, and its R&D investment easily exceeded 100 million.
The nine-axis machine tool began to make money in the second half of last year, and the efficiency of 'Da Qin' has doubled. It is difficult to say how the 'Multi-mode CNC' project is progressing, but the project team has gathered thousands of software and hardware talents, all with monthly salaries of several thousand or even tens of thousands.
.
The dilapidated factory was on the verge of losing money, but it turned around immediately when it was in the hands of 'Holy Light'. The factory had not divided houses for several years, and last year they started building family buildings. In the past, young people in 'Da Qin' could not find wives, but now girls want to marry
Everyone has to line up.
There are too many similar projects, and ordinary people pay attention to this benefit. Now that we learned from newspapers and TV that the "Holy Light" has come to Yunnan from Jiangxi, the whole province immediately felt that hope was coming.
From the New Year's Day special issue announcing investment, to the middle of the month when manufacturers from all over the country were invited to Kunming for a seminar, the project progressed at a really fast pace. This is also because 'Holy Light' is famous and attractive enough, and you would not find so many manufacturers willing to do it elsewhere.
To make a match.
The seminar had to discuss many things, including land, factory construction, logistics, technical specifications, materials and processes, etc. Zhou Qingfeng provided a VCD material list with hundreds of parts of different specifications, wondering which ones could be made and which ones could not be made.
Those that cannot be manufactured are seized and used for technical research. Zhou Qingfeng squats in project teams and engages in 'thinking storms' every day. For example, the most difficult thing about the decoder board is the chip, which requires the cooperation of the semiconductor industry.
There are also laser heads and servo motors, which require great efforts in materials and processes. In the past, these were insurmountable problems. A seminar could not solve these problems, so we could only talk about them in general terms.
But with Zhou Qingfeng, a local rich man, the seminar paid close attention to details and attracted all units in the industry chain.
Some branches of industry are even blank in China. Several universities in Kunming took advantage of this opportunity to get funds for projects, and they were very happy.
At the end of the month, several state-owned electronics factories in Yunnan were restructured, with Shengguang investing 500 million yuan into the holding company for reorganization. The diversion and layoffs were completed in early February, and the Harmony Department also entered Yunnan to absorb laid-off workers for re-employment, without causing any trouble.
The success of the restructuring gave both the government and enterprises great confidence, paving the way for subsequent larger-scale investments. In mid-March, the first batch of 100 VCDs with core components provided by Zhou Qingfeng completed small-scale trial production, all of which were used for
test.
There were a lot of minor issues, but they can all be improved.
By the end of March, the five supporting disc pressing production lines were shipped from Hong Kong, declared for import at Nanning Customs in Guangxi, and were ready to be shipped to Kunming for installation.
The leader of Nanning personally went to Kunming to find Zhou Qingfeng for these production lines, "If you don't eat the meat, you have to give me a bite of soup. Kunming has taken away the VCD project, and we are willing to provide supporting equipment for it."
These production lines are all industrial waste bought from the e-commerce side. Illegal disc pressing production lines from later generations are everywhere in Guangdong. You can buy a recording equipment for 10,000 yuan, and you can buy it for tens of thousands of yuan.
But optical discs still need to be imported, and the polycarbonate used to produce optical discs is nowhere to be found. Zhou Qingfeng simply asked Nan Ning Ning if he would like to start several chemical projects.
With the development of domestic industry, chemicals such as polyethylene, polypropylene, and PX will soon be in short supply and will be imported in large quantities domestically or even blocked by foreign countries.
Zhou Qingfeng can invest in domestic research and development or introduce chemical plants abroad, but he needs a place to undertake it.
Ordinary people are led by the media to always have doubts and fears about chemical industry. But a life without chemical industry is like without steel, and modern life is inseparable from chemical industry.
Environmentalists clamor to boycott chemical plants every day, but they themselves are unwilling to live a true "pastoral" life.
There are standards for the construction of chemical plants. Just copy the successful experiences of foreign countries. Guangxi is also willing to give 5 billion in credit and bite the bullet and keep the chemical plants in the province. Although this amount of money is far from enough to build chemical plants, this attitude is extremely
OK.
So Zhou Qingfeng decided to invest and first opened a branch of Shengguang Entertainment in Nanning, specializing in the production of various optical disc imaging products. This was another new market.
As for chemical plants, there are two options: self-development and introduction, both at home and abroad.
By the beginning of April, mass production of VCD was very successful. After all, this thing has no difficulty except for the core components. It is just a simple assembly.
Zhou Qingfeng's idea of producing is also very simple. Build it first and then localize it step by step. The electronics factory in Kunming that underwent restructuring easily achieved his goal.
But will the products be sold well after they are produced? People are not sure. Not only Ling Xia, the newly appointed general manager of the "Shengguang Audiovisual Equipment Factory", is not sure, but Kimura, who was recruited from Japan to be responsible for quality control, is not sure either.
One of these two people was a country bumpkin originally selected from a state-owned unit in Kunming. He didn't even have a high degree of education, let alone going abroad. The other was a graduate of Tokyo Imperial University, but he went bankrupt because of his obsession with billiard parlors.
When they partnered to manage the new factory, they both lamented each other's lives. Now they stand at the door of the factory warehouse, staring at the porters loading the finished product packaging boxes onto the truck, and they are also uneasy.
"Mr. Kimura, Japan's electronic technology is so advanced, does it really mean there is no VCD?" Director Ling is in his thirties. He recently learned Japanese by himself, and he can speak it decently in three months.
"No." Kimura is in his forties, has messy hair, and is considered a successful man in Japan. But he has no wife, no girlfriend, no children, and his only hobby is gambling on pachinko machines.
"Then is anyone willing to buy this thing?"
"have no idea."
The two of them had a meaningless conversation and waited for the two thousand VCDs to be loaded into the truck. This thing will be airlifted to Shanghai and sold for four thousand and eighty units.
When the pricing was announced, everyone in the factory felt that Mr. Zhou was crazy. Even the provincial leaders thought it was outrageous. Who would sell such expensive domestic products?
But no one can change the president's mind, he just wants to sell it at such a high price!
"Mr. Kimura, I'm leaving. Please continue to keep an eye on the factory. Production cannot be relaxed."
Factory Director Ling will randomly fly to Magic City to personally monitor the distribution of this product. Yunnan Province and Kunming City have put great expectations into this project, and the entire province hopes that this thing can be sold.
But when this thing was built so easily, people in the province were a little worried - the product that was completed so quickly did not look like a high-end product. It had no precedent abroad, and it was really an original product in China.
"Oh, no one may buy it even if it's 2,400. The price of 4,800 is really too expensive. I'm really worried that it won't sell!"
