Chapter 0861 Competition

Jung carefully hid his CD when he heard someone knocking on the door outside the guest room. With the help of the peephole, outside was Phillips, an old man who retired from General Dynamics, who he had met outside the president's office but had not communicated with.

General Dynamics is a super military enterprise in the United States. Its LM2500 series is currently the best gas turbine and is the main power equipment for the US Navy ships. China has imported several units and used them and found them good. After being sanctioned, they had to turn to Ukraine.

The famous F-16 Fighting Falcon was developed by General Dynamics, and later the relevant departments were packaged and sold to Lockheed. The M1 Abrams is also a General Dynamics product and has been popular around the world for decades.

Phillips is in his seventies, which is really very old. He has worked at General Dynamics all his life, and the intersection with Jung is that the companies they belong to are both equipment suppliers to the US military.

Seeing Jung, the elder Phillips changed from his dull expression outside the president's room, laughed and patted the other man on the shoulder, saying happily: "Genius boy, you are the youngest engineering professor at Princeton, why are you here?"

"He is the youngest associate professor in recent years. But I have already left Princeton." Jung corrected, he slapped the old man's palm away and looked at it suspiciously, "Have you also taken the medicine provided by the Holy Light?"

"Oh, we won't talk about this topic." Regarding private matters, old Phillips was more cautious. He waved, "Let's go, it's dinner time. I will take you to meet some other people."

"Are you also in the School of Vehicle Engineering?"

"No, I'm in the School of Naval Engineering."

"How many people were recruited?"

"That's not clear. Maybe you can count them when you get a chance."

The hotel is near the 'Holy Light' headquarters, and the entire building has been bought by the group. Jung followed Old Phillips down the elevator, walked into the self-service Western restaurant, casually took a plate and went to the table to get food.

There were a lot of people in the western restaurant, mostly white-haired old men and women. Everyone had their own small circles and gathered at the table to whisper. Old Phillips came a few days earlier and knew more people, so he helped introduce Jung.

"Did you see that group of Japanese? The leader is Professor Maeda from the East Emperor. His group is all mathematicians."

"Oh, they are so old. Are they ninety years old?"

"That's not true. The biggest one is only over eighty. The Japanese tend to stick together and are very polite to everyone, but we can't tolerate them. There's something particularly annoying about these guys."

"What is it?"

Phillips brought a glass of champagne and saluted Maeda and others who were occupying several large tables in the restaurant. A dozen Japanese people across from him immediately stood up and raised their glasses in return.

"A few of my friends at Yale complained to me, saying that the Japanese are like rabbits on the Australian grassland. Every time you find one, there is actually a nest behind it.

The School of Mathematics is almost overcrowded by this group of Japanese. Several departments are chaired by Japanese. This seriously squeezes our quota and will bring danger."

The Japanese sat down and talked quietly.

Jung asked in confusion: "Danger? What danger are these people in? I think they are all quite thin and don't need to lose weight."

"Losing weight? What are you talking about?" Old Phillips turned his head and looked at Jung, lowered his voice and asked: "How did you get recruited?"

"I want to lose weight and want special weight loss pills, so I came here." Jung shrugged, wanting to express his love for high-calorie food, "I need desserts to satisfy the needs of my brain, and I can't give up.

"

Old Phillips looked like he had seen a ghost, "Everyone here comes here for health and life, but you actually come here to lose weight?"

Jung was also very surprised, "Losing weight is also for health and life. If I don't reduce my weight, I will really die."

Forget it, old Phillips waved his hand and stopped dwelling on Jung's thoughts. He just returned to the previous topic, "'Holy Light' University is in the early stage of construction. The number of people currently recruited is very limited, but old guys who want to survive.

But there are many.

For every more Japanese here, there will be one less American opportunity. We all have friends, and we all hope that there will be more of us. The first batch of people to be recruited are negotiating carefully, hoping to bring their friends and family over.

."

Old Phillips pointed to the other side of the western restaurant, "Those are also Japanese, mainly in the School of Materials. The leader, Professor Kondo, is engaged in carbon fiber. He also recruits a large number of people, leaving us with very limited positions.

We are now mainly crowded into a limited number of colleges such as mechanical manufacturing, chemistry and chemical engineering, computers and semiconductors, medicine and biopharmaceuticals, and aerospace. Now everyone is almost breaking their heads trying to grab a recruitment spot.

By the way, our competitors also include the Russians. A large number of them have come recently, mainly focusing on mathematics and physics. Now the mathematics college is almost exceeding the standard, and many people feel that they cannot compete and are forced to leave.

Go to computer school."

Jung was confused when he heard this, and said weakly: "Why do you all have to come to Holy Light University? Or can't you wait for the next batch of recruitment?"

Old Phillips looked at Jung as if he were a fool, and suddenly realized that this kid was only in his thirties and had not yet been able to understand his fear of death. He could only shake his head and sighed: "The 'Holy Light' can wait.

But we can't wait any longer.

Look at me, do I look like a man in his seventies now? My heart hasn’t beat so regularly and strongly for many years, the age spots on my face have almost disappeared, and even the cancer cells have been contained. I feel like I

Return to the state of being fifty years old.

If my wife is still alive, how much do I hope that she can regain her youth like me? But she passed away two years ago. Who can be sure when the Holy Light will recruit people next? We must take advantage of now."

Oops... Jung finally understood that the dilemma he faced was different from that of these old guys. Although they were all for health and life, the latter was obviously more urgent.

"So what now?"

"What else can we do? What do you think we are doing here? We don't want to fight among ourselves. We are discussing how to make suggestions to the president of Holy Light to add more colleges and more positions.

We racked our brains to list all the disciplines, and we had to write clearly how each discipline would help the ‘Holy Light’? Then we tried every means to arrange more positions.”

Old Phillips scratched his head in distress at this moment, "We went to submit the proposal today, but the president gave us a warning. He accepted the proposal, but prohibited us from disclosing any information to the outside world.

We can feel that the president does have the intention to continue to expand the size of the university, but he hopes to control the recruitment intention within a certain range. Therefore, adding any additional college will become a new target for competition, and every seat is precious.

Our group of people will go to Tianyang tomorrow, and you will stay in the imperial capital for a few more days. I hope you can continue our unfinished work."

"Continue with what?"

"Continue to persuade the CEO of Holy Light to recruit more people. We are already old. We just want to live longer in health and enjoy some sunshine and rain, even if we don't pay wages."

"This is the first time I've heard such a request."
